Q: I have a sony system and it has 2 speakers and 1 subwoofer. The sony mini hi-fi system has the speaker ports for the sub and the 2 speakers. I also have another 2 speakers I want to hook up to the system. Is there a way I can wire this or buy something cheap to split the connections in my receiver so I can have all 4 speakers and the sub work at the same time on 1 receiver. Please Help!!!
You can wire the speakers in parallel or series, depending on the amplifier and the speaker impedances. If the amplifier can drive a 4 ohm speaker on each channel, and you want to put two 8 ohm speakers on it, just connect them in parallel - that will approximate a 4 ohm speaker (be sure and connect the + to the + and the - to the - ). If the amplifier is rated to drive only 8 ohms, then you can either wire 8 ohm speakers in series, thereby approximating a 16 ohm speaker. This will minimize an over-current situation, but will result in a small, inconsequential mis-match which causes a small amount of power to be lost (it won't be noticeable w/o a sound meter). If the speakers are 4 ohms then wire them in series as well to produce an equivalent of 8 ohm impedance.
Q: computer Speakers
well there are wastes and energy usages during production, but if you're considering when they are connected to your computer then it's different. All electronics are inefficient and produce some waste heat but it would be less than a larger stereo, which also has its own chip which uses power to process inputs and produce sound. while your speakers are not in use they also draw electricity if they are left on because while the power is on they still make a slight vibration, even if you don't have anything playing. so turn them off when not in use. Also the power adapter which converts ac to dc will always use some power while plugged in.
Q: I found some Sanus speaker stands. The height seems perfect for me. It's the SANUS SYSTEMS BF-31B Wood Speaker Stands. The speakers I want to place on them is 6 5/8 inches by 4 3/8 inches (height x width). These stands are about 7.5 by 7.5. Would they fit? I've never bought speaker stands before.
Speaker stands should bring the speakers up so that the tweeter is at ear level when seatedif they do that they should work.and should be right for those speakers.the size of the platform is sufficient.
Q: I have some old speakers and some of the speakers in them are faded white. Was wondering if they make a black paint so they dont look so faded but doesnt interfere with the sound quality.
Anything you add to the speaker cones will affect the sound quality. I don't know of any speaker paint, but if it's that much of an issue, you could get your speakers reconed or just have them replaced. Personally, if they sound alright, I couldn't care less. Another idea: put a cloth or wire mesh over the speaker enclosure. This should nullify the cosmetic state of the speakers while not appreciably messing with your sound.
Q: can some one please explain to me , what the ohm rating on a speaker means, and what speaker can connect to which ohm rating on a receiver.
Polaris has it right but I want to point out that any good quality name brand amp will be fine with 4 to 8 ohm speakers. Most speaker manufacturers use 4, 6 or 8 ohm numbers but the truth is that the speakers can range from 2 to 20 ohms regardless of what the manufacturer rate them at. My point is, don't be too concerned with resistance (impedance) ratings. Get a good quality receiver with good quality speakers and you'll be fine.
Q: I have a 2002 Toyota 4Runner and I was wanting to find out just exactly what size of speakers I can use to replace my factory speakers. Also would like any recommendations for a good replacement speaker. I want to replace all 4 speakers in the doors.
both concepts are tremendous even with the undeniable fact that i'm privvey to the yota. One being in extreme college you receives more desirable helpful mileage. also the Burban is form of a tank as far as off roading is going it could be more desirable equipped to mudding no longer fairly rock crawling or path driving. positive you ought to do your own custom artwork yet at the same time you will get it carried out your way. All in all i might want to bypass with the yota. it truly is all we use out right here in Washington. We off highway em haul our boats and motorcycles. Head up deep in the hills. don't be distracted through each and each of the bells and whistles on the Burban back you may make the yota your own no longer basically somebody else's truck you purchased
Q: I have two old floor speakers (from around 1980) the tweeter and mid range speakers work fine but both woofers are blown. could I replace the the woofers in the speakers with car sub-woofers?
No, you can not replace the woofer on the speaker system with a car subwoofer. They are rated ar 4 ohms and home audio at 8 ohms. Car audio speaker are design for very small room (short throw) and home audio for large room (long throw). You will not hear the same sound after you replace the speaker. Home audio speakers have have many improvements from the 80's, there are allot of speakers in the market now. Consider replacing your old speaker with a new one. Stay with name brands like JBL, Infinity, Polk audio, Definitive Technology, Paradigm, and Boston to name a few. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on speakers. Hope that this will help you out.
Q: I have an '09 Nissan Altima 2.5L and although I love the stock speakers, they are really blown to smitherines. P I had them replaced before by Nissan and they were awesome about it because they blew out before I had owned the car for a month so they replaced them for free. But now that the car is a year old, I need to buy new speakers myself.I was wondering 2 things: 1) Should I pay up to Nissan to replace my speakers with the stock brand speakers or get some higher quality ones that wont blow so easily? Also, any suggestions?and 2) Will getting new speakers void my warranty on my car? Thanks!
It is always a good idea to put factory equipment in vehicles whenever possible when it is still under warranty. However, aftermarket speakers are fairly safe. I hate to admit it but you can get better speakers for half the price! The reason I say they are fairly safe is because they would only void warranty on any problems caused by the speakers. Seams pretty safe to me since it's hard to see any major issues cause by a set of speakers.
Q: im comparing the rockford-fosgate punch car speaker with the alpine s-series car speaker. which one will provide the best all-around sound quality?
There is a problem with Inktowns explanation of sensitivity. A better explanation would be: For each doubling of power, you get a 3dB gain in SPL. Example if the base unit is 93 dB, then 1 watt 93 dB 2 watts 96 dB 4 watts 99 dB 8 watts 102 dB and so on.
Q: I added two stereo speakers to my computer and of course they need more power (electricity) to make them reach their full potential. How do u do that with computer speakers and my added stereo speakers. This is what I'm working with.
Use the stereo receiver that came with the speakers. Get a minijack-to-component audio adepter and connect the component (red/white) audio cables to your receiver's line in jacks. Then set your receiver to that channel. The receiver should have an integral amplifier that will provide ample power to the speakers.
