- Q: I have speakers hooked up to my ceiling. I think they're picking up the signal from the other cables. Idk what it's called but it's like the cable next to cable thing. I have the cables from lightninig and all that crap inside the wall and I have the speaker cables outside the wall but right next to the cables in the wall. Can that damage that speakers?
- No and it's not crosstalk either. Crosstalk happens in low current, unbalanced signal paths and magnetic tape. It's inductance and it has to be pretty drastic for you to even hear it in speakers. Like an AC line right next to a speaker wire for several feet.
- Q: I have two speakers that came from a stereo system that broke. They both have a max handling capacity of 5 watts, an impedence of 4 ohms, and the imput wires are simply positive/negative wires. - Sounds like a lot of work to get some old speakers to run with a computer. If the speakers are rated at 5watts, this would be their RMS value or constant wattage they can see for long periods of time. Without getting into too much detail with regards to sensitivity, 1w1m specs, etc. If the speakers are rated at 5watts I don't think they would be worth the effort just to plug them into your computer. Most computer speakers today run on a 25 -50 watt amplifier and costing around $50-100 and can produce some very high end sounds at your computer.

- Do you mean more than 2 speakers in the speaker cabinet, or do you mean multiple cabinets? Assuming you mean cabinets, I think they're up to 8. This is for surround sound, usually for video. The speakers are located front left, middle, and right, side left and right, and rear left and right. The eighth speaker is a sub-woofer for the low frequencies which are mostly non-directional. Choose one: excellent sound, low price. I've seen 6 speaker systems for $100 and I've seen 2 speakers for thousands. Guess which sounds better.

- The speakers or the box should definitely state if they are wireless. The term channel could mean several things, as in left or right stereo channel or it could be a model name or the brand name. A wireless speaker will need a power cord on it. This is to power the wireless receiver and amplifier to make the speaker work. It will not need (but I suppose it could have) any audio connections on it.

- $250 may be a bit low for your main speakers if you are looking for floorstanders. I would suggest picking up a decent pair of book shelf speakers and when you can afford better main speakers, use your bookshelfs as surrounds.

- Q: I wanted to know if i could just use a fm transmitter with speakers on their own without a radio hooked up to the speakers? im not sure. a bit of a guess but you may be able to use the fm transmitter on the frequency of the speakers if thats possible? - speaker wires will sometimes act as antennas, and a signal at the resonant frequency of the wires, can sometimes be heard through the speakers. Most of the time, this kind of resonance just produces noise.

- Q: all of them but one are not working,i took out the speaker and but 2 others there to see if it was the speaker and it still didnt work, then i took out my radio and checked all the wires and nothing, i also noticed when i had the bare wired for the speaker out that when they touch metal all of my other speaker quit working and only my sub was working, what could i do
- That speaker is probably blown. If its a new speaker then its defective. When u touch the naked wires together and the other speakers shut off that's normal. That tells me that the speaker is getting power. So It can only be the speaker that is the problem.
