- Q: I have a Sharp 5.1 speaker system. The original speaker has a rated input 50W, 100W max input, 4ohm impedance. I would like to replace these speakers. What kind of rating/impedance should I choose? Does the original amplifier work with 8ohm speakers? How about the 150W speakers?
- You can use 8-ohm speakers; amps will tolerate higher-impedance speakers without problems. However, the maximum power output will be reduced. Unless you need a lot of power, this is not a problem either--just turn up the volume a little. Use speakers of equal or higher power rating than the originals.

- Peak is exactly that - the speakers can handle brief spikes of that power but are not rated to handle it continually. Good rule of thumb - get speakers rated at TWICE the output of your stereo - so for your 4x45, get 4 100W speakers - make sure the speakers and stereo are using the same rating system, as there are around 3 ways to measure power output in stereo systems.
- Q: i know there subs are good but what about door speakers
- For one, speaker sound is subjective. I may love them and you may hate them and vice versa, but quality wise, even JL's lowest quality speakers are good. I think it would be hard to be disappointed with any JL speaker or sub. There may be something that performs comparably for less money, but JL's are good.

- Those speakers have a built in 70 watt amp. Just about all computer speakers do since that 1/10th of a watt you get out the jack isn't going to power anything bigger than headphones. But, those speakers are really overpriced. You could get better sound for less than half the money.

- ok.there should be a panel that you can take off to get to the speakersyou need to search your owners manual-it will be under speaker removal most likely. remember to get 5 1/4 speakers, those are what fit your vehicle.see ya and good luck

- The issue is that home speakers are 8 ohm where car speakers are 4 ohm. All this means is the volume won't be as high with 8 ohms as it will with 4. Half in fact. Look to a 'carputer' with a 5.1 audio card. The idea is to have a non-hard drive based computer that runs standalone Windows XP from a Bootable USB drive that runs the music player of your choice using plugins. Your MP3's are stored on another USB drive that can be removed for editing. This all ties into your sound system (amp subs/speakers). No hard drive means nothing will crash (nearly). A touch screen display is really the only other peice of equipment needed that can be custom mounted in your dash as you say. Look up BartPE and Sherpya. These two guys found a way to run the full GUI of Windows XP on a USB drive (under 600 Mb). A shuttle style computer is all you need for the computer.

- Q: I have a clarion deck and four factory speakers( two 5 1/2s and two 4x6s). When i start my truck the speakers work just fine, but at random times they will just stop working, but my stereo doesn't shut off, just the sound does from the speakers. I went to aspen sound and they said it was a blown speaker, which sounds right because one of my speakers sounds fuzzy and unclear. But i don't get how the speakers will sometimes work for a couple of days without shutting off and then sometimes only a couple of seconds. So i think it would be a bad connection or pinched wire behind the deck. It just doesnt make any sense that it would be a blown speaker if the sound shuts off when i slam the door or hit a speed bump. What do you think?
