- No. Not a 3.5 hard drive. You can do it with a 2.5 laptop drive because the drive mechanics and electronics require less power. A 3.5 drive requires too much power for USB to provide. Though... In the near future, you will see USB ports that are capable of supplying more power than the standard .5 amps that USB currently provides. So after they come out, you might see it being a possibility then.

- Yeah, it comes with a three prong power cable and a bunch of internal cables, one or two for the motherboard, one or two for graphics cards, and a bunch for drives.

- Electricity will chose the path of least resistance, and having multiple cables will mean that most of the electricity will simply go down just one of the cables. This can lead to overheating. Do it propperly, and use just the one big cable.

- It is simply a 2nd USB for power alone, it does not use both USBs to transfer files, just one, the 2nd is just for additional power to improve the performance of the hard disk
- Q: I bought a TV and it requires 9 amps but it didn't include the cable. I have a 7 amp cable that fits, but I don't want to damage the TV. All the cables at stores around me don't fit well. Could I get away with just using this one for a couple days until the right one arrives in the mail? - if your unit call for a 9 amp power cord and you drop it to 7 amps that would be a great lose of amps wires might over heat and cause a fire i won't do it myself its up to you and your safety if you want to do it
