- Q: what is the definition of the word floor in C++?
- I'm guessing this is the floor() function in the cmath library. The floor() function is the greatest integer function which you may know from mathematics. floor(x) returns the largest integer less than or equal to x. Examples: floor(2.5) returns 2 floor(0) returns 0 floor(12.999) returns 12 floor(-13.5) returns -14 (because -14 is the largest integer which is LESS THAN OR EQUAL TO -13.5) Hope this helps.
- Q: ok my living room is about 20x20i removed the carpet now it's just sub wood floori want to use cement + polyfiber or whatever you call it and sand and really fine crushed rocks as my floor, no wiremash reforcement, and in one big piece, no breaks in the middle or anywhere, do you think it'll work?will i get cracks because it's one piece instead of many smaller piece? will it crack because i'm cheaping out on not buying wiremash screen?
- I seriously doubt that your floor joists are sized to accommodate the weight of a concrete floor. I'd look for an alternative.
- Q: My living area is a little bit wavy in some areas. Will I be able to install laminate flooring or would a pliable floor cover, like carpet or linoleum, be my only option?
- It's possible to install it and have it look decent, but in time the space under some of the flooring will result in visible cracks and seperations. If you're dead set on laminate, just start by using a concrete based floor leveler to fill in just the low spots. A decent home center will have everything you need, the concrete leveler and additive runs about $20 and $8 respectively.
- Q: floor?
- i would think... it'd vary because different gases have different densities.. so at the first floor you'd have a greater concentration of gases that are denser and at the second floor you would get a greater concentration of gases that are less dense, and so on.. :)
- Q: I am putting floating laminate floors in my kitchen. Do I run them under the cabinet toe kicks or up to the and then run a bead of caulk?
- joe...take off toe-kicks,floor underneath the cabinets(behind the line of the toe-kicks)rip down the toe-kicks and replace.remember the bottom edge of your toe-kick where it meets your floor is the most visible part...so its better to trim the upper edge before you replace thus keeping a machined edge to the visible side.toe-kicks are designed to be removed and replaced for cleaning purposes...if you run the flooring up and trim, not only is it much more work, it will look wrong too... the expansion gap with trim idea is right for other things;trimming around base board,fire-hearths etc.but not here!
- Q: My church recently had our concrete floors stained and then sealed with 2 coats of urethane..I have tried cleaning and buffing with a neutral PH floor cleaner which left a film on the floor. I have a couple questions since I am in charge of caring for the floor1. How do I keep the floor clean and shiney without leaving water marks or soap film on the floor?2.How do I buff and shine the floor?3.How do I remove the scratches and scuff marks from the floor?
- All I would add to Ultimate Washer's answer is that periodically it just pays to put another coat of Urethane on it. It will help fill the scratches and a good buff will make it look good as new. Obviously you can't repeat that indefinitely, but a few times at long intervals won't hurt. The one thing you want to AVOID AT ALL COSTS is letting anything RUBBER sit on it for extended periods of time. It will partically dissolve into the urethane and you'll get weird patterns on the floor.
- Q: without putting all the dirt from the floor into the grout joints.
- sweep or vacuum up all dirt, dust, loose debris. Use warm water and a tile cleaning agent and if it's not gross dirty just mop it or use a cloth. If it's horrid, scrub with a stiff brush. When it's dry, use a grout cleaner --really smelly and lots of elbow grease, but they work --then when it's dry seal your grout. Sealants are pricey but so worth it. Henceforth you will only need to mop. voila
- Q: I'm renting a home and my chairs in the kitchen scratch the floors and some deep scratches how can I remove those scratches from a pergo floor installed in 2005
- You can buy stick on pads to put on the bottom of your chair legs to keep them from scratching the floor. They are spongy circles or squares in different shapes with a peel off backing. You can buy them at Home Depot, Lowe's, Wal mart and some hardware stores. If the scratches aren't too deep, you may be able to buff them out with mineral spirits and an old towel. If they are deep, try a wax pencil in wood tones, made to fill in and conceal scratches on wooden furniture. Try to get the stick on's right away, or the floor will just get worse and worse.
