Q: right now we have a concrete painted floor in our basement and i hate it, the paint always chips. does anyone know what we can do with the floor?
Have you thought about Cork flooring? It absorbs the shock of walking on concert and is safe for people with asthma..
Q: A)SubductionB)ConvectionC)RidgingD)Sea- Floor Spreading**Please and Thank you?
D) Sea-Floor Spreading Choices A, B, and C do have to do with oceanic spreading, but are not the direct manner in which the new seafloor is formed. Sea-floor spreading is the volcanic activity at oceanic ridges that actually creates new seafloor.
Q: Considering using a large floor cloth to cover my wall-to-wall carpeting that I hate. I just want to drape it over the existing wall-to-wall. Where would you get floor cloth & exactly what is it made out of? I know you can paint it if you want to. Where would I buy this item. Can you get a piece of floor cloth 11 x 15 feet? Any information is appreciated.
I have heard of using fabric dropcloths from the hardware store. Don't know if they would be big enough, but you could look there.
Q: I'm looking into buying my first horse trailer. What types of floors are there? I've heard of wood floors, aluminum floors, and rumber floors. Are there any others? And what are the pros and cons of these floors. Which one would you choose?
We have just a plain metal floor and our horses have never had problems with it. I think I have read somewhere that it's easier for them to slip on and it doesn't absorb shock very well. Rubber mats are the best, they absorb shock and give good no-slip grip. You can put rubber mats on almost anything I think... I'm positive they can go on metal and I don't see any reason they couldn't go on wood.
Q: Is it neccessary to prime the floor of an insulated garage before repainting?
That is a pretty tough one to be honest. I have done some work in this industry and every situation can be a little different depending upon the surface of the concrete you are working on. Smooth concrete with little or no aggregate is a little easier than a surface with clearly visible aggregate/rock. For stripping, start with a commercial grade grinder with a wire brush attached. Don't grind through the concrete but take the old paint off. Using a leaf blower blow all old paint, dust, debris, etc, off. Next, using old rags wipe the ENTIRE area that paint/sealant is to be applied with Xylene (an industrial strength solvent) that is HIGHLY FLAMMABLE. Wear gloves as Xylene can be absorbed through the skin and is toxic/carcinogenic. Use the heavy disposable type nitrile gloves as regular latex will deteriorate very quickly from the Xylene. Be certain concrete surface is CLEAN AND DRY. Apply and cure appropriate sealant/paint. There are countless varieties out there depending upon the surface, intended use, chemical and environmental exposure, etc. A word of warning and disclosure, most of the work I did was under the supervision of a foreman and we were fixing botched DIY jobs where average folks tried to seal, paint or surface garages, patios and decks. Often times the highest expense to the customer was the labor cost involved in removing what they tried to apply themselves. I would recommend getting a quote from a licensed contractor who works in the sealants and coating industry first. Make an educated decision from the potential cost of doing it yourself or paying someone who will do and stand by their work....If the paint/surface/sealant fails it will be their dime, not yours. I would go this route myself before doing my own garage and I have done this work in the past. Hope this helps and good luck!
Q: Hey! :) so If any of you have seen my other question you will know I'm redecorating my room. I'm a dancer so I'm making space to mount a ballet barre on my wall. I have cork flooring in my room.Is cork floor bad for dancing on?It has a little give (it's a little soft) but it's not like hardwood so I'm worried it will rip (with soles of my ballet slippers and pointe shoes..)If it's a bad idea to dance on it (barre work), what should I do?I wouldn't be able to change my floors but is there something I can lay down on the floor?I could use a carpet for regular barre work and stretching but carpet is bad for pointe work... Any ideas of what I could do?
Marley okorder /... Timestep (thicker) or Timestep mat (thinner and cheaper) would be what you would want. @SandraL- there are both portable marley flooring and permanent installations. Dance venues and ballet academies all have the permanent installation. True hardwood is a no- no. However a wood floor that is sprung or floating is preferable to marley over any floor that is not sprung or floating. State of the art is marley over a sprung or floating floor.
Q: is it like from the bottom: floor joist, sub floor, cement board, tiles? or what?
You use a cement board any where you need tile . You install it atop the standard 3/4 wood sub floor. And to install it properly you apply a thin set to the sub floor and then nail or screw it down. NEVER is construction adhesive used to properly install cement board. Using thin set creates a full coverage and won t cause gaps. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q: We want to tear out our carpet and lay down tile or linoleum. Are there any companies in Central Oregon that can install one of those? Also, which one is usually cheaper & which one would you recommend? Thx
Any flooring company can do these things. Its as basic as it gets..Just look in the local yellow pages under flooring. Generally speaking your laminate flooring will be the cheapest to do. But installation methods needed and quality of the products you choose can be a factor. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q: What are other options to use as flooring instead of bedding
It really depends on the cage you have. I wouldn't recommend newspaper because of the dyes. I personally use fleece but I have a C&C cage so it is much easier. Also if you are using wood bedding only use aspen, the others can give guinea pigs URI's!
Q: LOL point of the floor what is the use
Right-click the floor or go to the past. A point floor will hit your nearest enemy target.
