Slip resistance:
Boards of Techwoodn according to ASTM D2394-05. This is the best ranking for bare-foot slip resistance.
Weathering resistance:
Boards of Techwoodn have very low moisture uptake.This is key for mold and mildew resistance.
UV resistance:
4000 hours accelerated Xenon-arc Exposure,the Boards turned slightly more clear and colored.
Abrasion resistance:
The resistance to abrasion is similar to oak.

- Q: I am planning on installing a new floor in the kitchen of a very old house. The current floor is not level. On one end, its about an inch higher than the other end. Is it possible to level the entire floor with the self leveling concrete mix or some other form of self leveling liquid?
- You already have some answers on repairing the problem. I won't try to add to those. My old family home was built in 1850 and there is hardly a room in the house that has a level floor. You can drop a marble in most and it will roll off to the side of the room. One room, now enclosed, was once the floor of an open back porch and the floor slopes about 2 inches from one side to the other. However, the house has only provided shelter for 5 generations of my family so far, but I think I will let my great-grandchildren worry about it. Good luck.

- I don't know about that particular model, but I have hardwood flooring throughout my whole house and have a shark steam mop...one of the basic models that have been out on the market for a couple of years. I love it. It works well if you take your time. I like the fact that is leaves less moisture on the flooring than any other method I have used previously. I am happy with mine, and my daughter likes hers too. The only thing about this model is that you have to clean the corners by hand as it does not get right into the corners...no biggie for me....and it does an ok job on travertine, but great job on smoother porceline tiles I have.

- You definitely want to put down the underlay first. It gives it a cushion and the flooring will lay better.

- Q: i have a floor that is in an older house that would like to tile. Unfortunately, it has a swell in the center of about two inches from when the house settled. Does anyone know of a commercial levelling product i can just trowel on to level the floor so the tile will lay flat? The ease of use is a big factor, i like things simple. Thanks.
- as pumken said there are floor levelling cements, you mix them to the consistency of, like jello pudding and you just pour it on the floor. it's considered to be self levelling, but may need a little help the problem is it's expensive (27$ a bag) and to raise part of a floor 2 is going to cost, and cost large, it might be easier and cheaper to remove and repair the hump area only break-up and remove the offending area, do a patch job on it and finish it the levelling cement, so it will match the existing or remaining area at least regular cement/concrete mix is only 6 $ a bag

- 1) the Quiet Floor 2) of all these, I think single-sex would be the most boring. I lived on the substance-free floor at my college and I LOVED it! Never a dull moment. You can totally have fun without alcohol. But boys are a must. 3) The Quiet Floor will have quiet hours, which will often depend on the night of the week The Single-Sex Floor will be just that: all girls or all boys living there. The Substance-Free Floor is basically alcohol-free. You will get in trouble if you have alcohol or are caught high, but it's perfectly possible and relatively easy to have fun without the alcohol I've never been in an honors dorm, but they're most similar to the Quiet Floor (except it usually extends to more than a floor). 4) I lived on substance-free my freshman year of college and I totally loved it! Everybody on my hall was a nerd (in a good way. It's obviously not that way everywhere) and it was always easy to go down to the kitchen and find friends to play Apples to Apples or make pudding. Don't go with the quiet floor or single-sex floor if you want crazy stories. Because you totally can't have crazy stories without guys being involved!

- The best floor is one that is sprung so that it can absorb some of the force of landing from leaps and jumps and thus spare your knees from excess pounding. If a wood surface is placed directly on top of concrete, it's pretty pointless, as concrete would be the worse kind of floor to dance on. Besides, most dancers these days prefer marley on top of a sprung wooden floor. As for carpet, I suppose you're asking in terms of practicing at home? Because carpet is certainly not a good surface for ballet. And, again, the key factor is what is underneath. Practicing in your carpeted basement still means that you're on top of concrete. But since you're probably not going to be moving around much if you're practicing at home, it doesn't much matter what the surface is. My daughter marked moves, stretched, and thought up choreography in her bedroom that has shag carpeting. Practice wherever you're able to; just make sure you are kind to your knees.
