Maintainance guide:
Make sure that you regulaly clean the wood floors in order to prevent dust accumulation. We recommand to clean a small part
of stains as a testing ground to prevent too much chromatic aberration.
Dust and stain— use a hard brush dipped in warm soapy water to remove it.
Mildew— scrub with ordinary wood mode class agents, or bleach to rinse or wipe it directly.
Chalk stains—In addition to the while chalk, other colors can not be removed, you can use bleaching agent with hot soapy
water to wash it.
Ice or snow—Apply calcium chloride or rock salt, it can melt ice or snow, then use hot soapy water to wash it.
Stain soil and dirts— Apply detergent, which contains oxalic acid or phosphoric acid. Whiping the stain for 10-15 mins.
Greasy and oil-based stains—immediately use household cleaning products with hot soapy water to wash it.
Juice and wine stains—Mixed the bleach stain agent and hot soapy water to dilute the stain and wipe.

- If you use wood, get one of those computer desk mats that allow chairs to roll around on so the water doesn't affect it. But the tiles are pretty durable so if installed right they shouldn't crack unless you're dropping things on them which I assume you wouldn't do on purpose. But the wood would get dented if you dropped something on there. So whatever you're preference is go with it. just get some area rugs to soften noise.

- Vinegar is acid and strips the finish. I use dish detergent. Dish detergent is really the only benign substance that gets things clean but will not harm the finish. My neighbor uses ammonia. I think that's just a weaker acid myself. Yes, vinegar is acidic and will harm finish.
- Q: We just bought a new house and have linoleum floor in the kitchen, dining room and by the front door. Although the floor is nice, due to the natural etchings in the linoleum dirt gets in there and it so hard to clean. I used a abrasive product but was told that will take off the coating on the floor. - No, don't use an abrasive, it will take the coating off and then the dirt can get stuck in the tiny scratches made by the abrasive. Those little indentations are a pain. If the floor has wax over them, which often happens when people wax a floor that still has dirt on it, the best thing to do is use a wax stripper to get the floor back to really clean. Then use a really good acrylic wax, 2 coats. Go to Home Depot or a janitorial supply place and buy the professional grade stuff, it's way better than what you buy in the supermarket and not more expensive. It will be much easier to keep clean if it has a good coat of wax on it. Use a good mop such as a Bee mop, a string mop(my favourite), or a microfibre one, any kind of mop that will scrub a little, and when you clean it be sure to scrub to get the dirt out of the indentations. Even use a scrub brush on a handle if you must on tough spots. Keep up with the waxing, too, but make sure the floor is really clean before you wax, otherwise you'll be back where you started.

- Try checking on TV programs like This Old House, and places like Habitat Restore Call your local Habitat for Humanity , if you don't find their restore in your phone book. Look in old DIY magazines for place that sold the flooring at the time. They may still be in operation and sell what you are looking for. Short of that, a master carpenter should be able to make you some repacement pieces. My Dad was a master carpenter....thats how I know IT CAN BE DONE !!! Just be sure you get one who knows what he is doing...there are some carpenters that aren't worth the sawdust in their clothing or ears. Check with a local reputable carpenter shop, they may have a carpenter willing to work on the side to help you out. I would recomend my Dad but he is now with The Master Carpenter and has been for many years now. Parquet flooring is beautiful flooring. But if all else fails; buy the thin parquet flooring to match and fill in with some plywood as back filler. Depending on the thickness of the original flooring, you can use several thin layers of plywood or one thickness plus a thin to get the right thickness. Example: 3/8 ths + 1/4 th, 5/8ths +1/4th, or several of the 1/4 th inch plywood. You may have to sand it down a tad depending.... Hope this helps you out...I tried to think of as many places as I could. Oh, try salvage stores...sometimes they are are almost as good as the Habitat Restores. :-)

- The best way to do walls or floors in the basement is to first install treated strips of wood,then add a thin type of insulated board between them to reduce moisture.
