Q: The floor of the floor to strengthen the wear and tear, and may often be caused by towing tables and chairs, how to repair?
In general, the floor to buy more than four thousand turn, there will not be any problems, you must buy a relatively poor floor, only two ways, a single toilet teans pear apricot spinach is replaced by damaged, But there are color, old and new have a separate, there is all replaced.
Q: We have Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors. Nothing I do seems to remove the streaking. I have wet mopped, steam mopped, used floor products with a dry mop, but always I can see streaks in the floors. Any suggestions on how to get them shiny and streak free?
Try using a microfiber mop with a mixture of Apple Cider Vinegar and water. Mix the two in any ratio you want. Then mop and scrub with this mixture. Don't over-saturate the mop...you want damp, but not dripping wet. Also, never use steam on wooden floors. It can cause the floor to warp. Why Apple Cider Vinegar? Apple Cider Vinegar contains tannins, which condition the wood while it cleans. It makes hardwood floors absolutely glow. Plus it's non-toxic and can be used as often as you like. Once in a while you can add a couple teaspoons of Lemon Oil to the mixture for extra glow. Actually just about any Essential Oil works. If you do add oil, stir the mixture often to keep the oil mixed. I don't recommend Murphy's Oil soap. It tends to leave streaks. The vinegar and microfiber cloth will remove the streaks you're experiencing. You can buy these just about anywhere...Target, Walmart, Home Depot, even Dollar General. Good luck. -
Q: I want to put a floating floor in my kitchen and I was told I had to put the floor down after I put in my cabinets
No. You can't set the cabinets on the floor. dlobryan1 is absolutely correct. A floating floor has to be able to float, and cabinets have to be secured, but if you need to you can always install the floor first. When it comes time to set the cabinets, just mark the area, tape it off to protect the surface of the laminate, and rip it down with a circular saw, you'll need a good heavy 1/4 to 1/2 gap around them any way, and then just shoe mold the cabinets. Just make sure you nail to the cabinets and not to the floor.
Q: we bought a new house and a room had a cement floor and now my parents put floating floor over top. now we're starting to smell a musty smell and we have asked some people what to do and they said 1) paint cement with sealer then recover with floating floor ( remove floor first) 2) air exchanger 3) put vents on the floor when the windows are closed it doesn't smell but when the windows are open it really stinks so we know that it's under the floor and we are told that the cement is starting to sweat. my question: what do i do and what do i treat it with? thanks!
There should be plastic under the concrete. But the builder was probably too lazy or cheap or stupid to do that. So now the smell of damp earth will forever try to migrate through the floor. The perfect answer is to remove the floor and the concrete and lay down 3 mil plastic and repour concrete and relay the floor. Failing that, I like the 'seal the concrete' concept. Try to find a product that is a vapor barrier. The original BIN is a vapor barrier. With luck the smell will be sealed out also.
Q: What is the meaning of the floor speed?
The answer on the first floor is completely correct. Very correct and absolutely right. I believe that the wooden floor after the turn will not be high again. Because the wear resistance along with the hardness of the same. If it is too hard, then touch the factory whip Zhuo Zhuang Biao courier wave cunning to the wood comfortable foot feeling. If one day like a brick as hard as a wooden floor?
Q: what steps are needed to correctly install a linoleum floor
It all depends on how you want to put it down. It is very important to have a smooth sub-floor as most surfaces will transfer any imperfections to the new floor i.e. bumps, dirt, and even patterns from previous flooring. You can either do a floating floor, where you just lay it down. Then there is a full spread glue down, where you glue the entire surface of the floor down. finally, there is just doing a perimeter glue down where you just glue down the floor around the edges. It gets a little tricky if your room is larger than the usual 12' width that the flooring rolls come on and especially if you have a pattern match. Seams need to be very tight so they are not noticable. After the floor has been put down it need's to be rolled with a very heavy roller to adhere the floor to the glue and remove any air pockets left.
Q: I'm going to be installing laminate flooring in a house that has had the carpet and old tiling torn out. The floor is currently bare smooth concrete. The house is not over 20 years old so everything is in good (non-leaking) condition. The only thing on the floor is some of the residual carpet glue and some screw holes from the thresholds. Will i need a vapor barrier? If so, what kind? will i need to seal the concrete floor with something? What is the best kind of saw to use to cut laminate flooring when detail work needs done as well? Thank you for your answers!
You will need a moisture barrier(plastic sheeting)because all the prepadded laminate ive ever seen requires a moisture barrier over concrete slab. The weight of the floor keeps it down but if you attach it to anything it will cause the floor to buckle or seperate when it expands or contracts.Depending on where your installing it and what brand you may need to fill expansion gap with silicone and/or to glue the pieces together to keep moisture from getting down between the boards.
Q: my house has not been redone sincve my parent bought it (the 70's i think) i really want to rip up the floors and lay wood floors and was wondering how i would get the old flooring off first. someone told me use an iron to heat the glue any other ideas
You need to get a scraper and scrape it up. My husband uses a tool he calls a grub bar, its a long handle with a scraper on the end of it. He gets started at one end and works his way across the floor, ripping up the vinyl or tile. Using an iron to heat the glue could take a great amount of time, considering how big your floor area is.
Q: What is a good price for refinishing wood floors. Is it per sq ft or per room?
I would rent the sander and do it myself.
Q: I pulled up my old vinyl kitchen flooring (7 years old) and found that the underlayment is in great shape except that the original vinyl was just glued about 3 inches around the entire perimeter. I scraped the old glue as best as possible and it is almost perfectly level with the rest of the floor. Does it need to be perfectly smooth where it meets the unglued edge or is a slight ridge OK to keep it from showing through the new vinyl flooring? I do have floor "sizing" that I plan to use where there are any nicks or impressions. Should I use the sizing around the edges and taper to the good flooring or am I overdoing this project? I plan to lay new vinyl flooring this wekend. I'd appreciate any good advice. PS: I also tried sanding the old glue to take off any high ridges using 80 paper. Thanks
If it's just around the outer edge it should'nt be a big issue as the edges tend to be low or even no traffic areas, so the new flooring wo'nt get damaged due to the rise & heavy foot traffic. Chances are that nobody will ever see the difference unless they knew it was there! Hope this was helpful, good luck!!
