Q: My vinyl floor is loosing it's luster and I would like to refinish it, not replace it. Is there a product I can use to restore it's shine
Check out a product called super-Crylic Floor Finish that you can buy at Smart & Final. The product is a tough acrylic co-polymer finish that goes down easily and requires minimum maintenance while providing long lasting shine. The glass like film blends beautifully and will not discolor in successive coats, eliminating the need for frequent stripping. It stands up to continuous scrubbing and mopping as well! Recommended for use on: Asphalt tile, concrete, vinyl tile, ceramic tile, linoleum, terrazzo and vinly composition tile.
Q: Would like to know about it!
If your ground is flat enough, you can shop directly on the ground. If the flatness is not enough, the floor company must give you pad foam or decoration when the ground leveling! I suggest you in the decoration before the first floor company to the home to measure, and then decide how to deal with. This is more affordable to save money.
Q: Will laying one layer over another be bad? I'm worried that the flue from the previous flooring will make the floor uneven. Thoughts or advice?
You r right , i do not advise to flooring vinyl sheet over another because ..Vinyl flooring is destructible, can have snag and rip it , if there's even the slightest void in the subfloor beneath it. With sheet vinyl, eliminating damage requires fusing the surface or patching in new material. Small cuts and scratches can be permanently fused with liquid seam sealer, a clear compound that's available wherever vinyl flooring is sold. Clean the area with a soft cloth that's dipped in lacquer thinner, then squeeze in a thin bead of sealer. After the sealer has dried, the repair will be virtually invisible. For tears or burns, you'll have to cut out the damaged area and glue in a replacement patch; this type of work requires an extra piece of identical flooring and a technique called double cutting ...Now You r ready for new flooring .... Hope u will enjoy your new vinyl flooring.
Q: I want to paint my garage floor. I have never parked my car in there. There are some paint spots on the floor when I painted the walls. My questions are: Do I need to prime the garage floor to paint it? I saw something in HD today about etching it, what the heck is that? What would be the suggested way to properly do this? I'm not getting the paint with the colored flakes in it, i would just get regular garage floor paint.
Etching it involves applying a muriatic acid solution on it, letting it fizz a while, then rinsing it and letting it dry. This leaves a dull surface for the paint to bond with. You absolutely need to go by the manufacturer's instructions concerning primer, and you also need to make sure that the coating you apply is compatible with car tires. Not all of them are, some of them will bond to the tires, and as soon as you park a car on the wrong coating, you will have four spots of damaged coating when you back out. Check out car magazines because they almost always have ads for garage coatings.
Q: I currently have a house where the bathroom floor is rotting in the corner right by the bath tub, how do we fix this and then is there something that we can lay underneat the new tile to prevent moisture from getting through?
I'd go ahead..pull the tub...find where the water came from..put down a new sub floor..and floor..put a backer board up around tub...used to call this backer board green board..now they have one that's like sheet concrete(no, its not heavy....Lowe's has everything you need...not a bad repair for the do it your self-er
Q: How much is the floor loss? Who is it?
Generally less than 20%, counted in their own accounts
Q: Tare out old floor and toilet and and llay the tile how much
how much what? time will it take? tiles will it take? beers will it take?
Q: I just asked for help with the potty training. Thank you all for the suggestions. I'm doing most of what you all suggested but will try to be more dilligent. Now for this question. She is kept to an area of all wood laminate flooring (the real good kind) while we're training. Will Natures Miracle work after the fact to remove the area's she's marked?
A few years ago I had laminate floors installed in my house because I thought it was just the thing because I had dogs who had accidents. WRONG! We always cleaned up right after an accident, and tried putting puppy pads down and everything. After a while the floor started buckling and discoloring. I had the floor company come out and look at it and they said it was because the moisture got between the planks and got under the flooring. My floor was ruined and could not be repaired. All of the laminate flooring had to be replaced. Now, I have a nice vinyl type floor and have not had any problems. SO be careful with your floors. You may get a bigger problem than the one you have now. Good luck
Q: I have a small house that is 3 feet off the ground on a permanent foundation (insulfoam block). It is completely enclosed and has a vapor barrier on the dirt under the house. The floor is a standard wood floor with floor joists and has carpet and pad on it. I notice that the house is warm....but the floor is cool and it feels breezy at floor level. I was wondering if insulating the floor under the house may help?
If you didnt have that vapor barrier those wood floors would have already buckled.
Q: Can radiant floor heating be installed in the concrete pour, then after concrete has sufficiently cured (28 days) can a resinous coating, such as a epoxy/polyurethane floor coating be installed on a floor that will later be radiant heated. My concern is that these coatings are very moisture intolerant. Does radiant floor products, create any moisture in the slab that could rise to the surface. Does changes in temps affect the moisture levels in concrete. Electric radiant floor products seem to be best.Pipes filled with hot water to me is a concern. Do the pipes "sweat" causing condensation or are they wrapped. I am currently on a large project and these questions are coming up in the design forum.
RADIANT FLOOR HEAT WITH WATER IS THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY TO HEAT A FLOOR. IT DOSE NOT SWEAT. WE HAVE A 9000 SQ. FT. SHOP ALL IN FLOOR HEAT WITH A GEO THERMAL HEAT/ COOLING. PAYBACK ON THE EXTRA COST OF GEO THERMAL IS 7 YEARS. ALL OUR FLOORS ARE EPOXY SEALED.
