Maintainance guide:
Make sure that you regulaly clean the wood floors in order to prevent dust accumulation. We recommand to clean a small part
of stains as a testing ground to prevent too much chromatic aberration.
Dust and stain— use a hard brush dipped in warm soapy water to remove it.
Mildew— scrub with ordinary wood mode class agents, or bleach to rinse or wipe it directly.
Chalk stains—In addition to the while chalk, other colors can not be removed, you can use bleaching agent with hot soapy
water to wash it.
Ice or snow—Apply calcium chloride or rock salt, it can melt ice or snow, then use hot soapy water to wash it.
Stain soil and dirts— Apply detergent, which contains oxalic acid or phosphoric acid. Whiping the stain for 10-15 mins.
Greasy and oil-based stains—immediately use household cleaning products with hot soapy water to wash it.
Juice and wine stains—Mixed the bleach stain agent and hot soapy water to dilute the stain and wipe.

- Q: Floor protection mat, who can tell me what is this material?

- Q: I want to do my floor. It is a old wood floor, not in good condition. Ok this is what I want to do. First I want to use compound and fill in the cracks between the boards. Then I want to sand it all to smooth it out. Then I would like to Stain the floor a dark brown, and then seal it. Question is. Will this work for my floor? And of so please add tips and/or comments. All is welcome.
- I wouldn't recommend filling the cracks before you stain it, because whatever you use will be a different shade then the wood. Although I have heard of a product called Stain Putty a powder that mixes with stain to use at the same time you are staining the wood. I haven't used this product but from what I read it seems like the only option besides waiting untill after you poly'd the floor and then using wood putty.
- Q: Has anyone had any issues with installing kitchen cabinets over Pergo floors? The installation instructions don't recommend it, I was wondering why? I'm screwing the cabinets do the floors or anything, and have left the appropriate space for expansion around the perimeter.Just looking for some personal comments on your experience with Pergo.Thanks!
- Pergo floors are designed to float. That is why a thin slick plastic sheet is installed underneath the flooring. It is also why there is a gap left on all sides of the floor where it meets the walls or baseboard. This arrangement permits the floor to expand and contract with temperature changes and not buckle or separate at the joints. If you place your cabinets on top of the flooring it tends to anchor that portion of the flooring and increase the chances of buckling or separation of the boards. Screwing down the cabinet makes the anchor more substantial and increases the chances of a problem.

- Yes you must for a couple of reasons. One is to make a clean transition to another surface or area. It allows the floor to expand and contract normally. Another is with that much laminate it will expand/contract a lot and they are needed every 20/25 ft as per your particular laminate calls for. If you don t , the whole floor can expand enough and actually lift off the floor. Also not putting in the proper transition strips may very well void warranties on the product. - Floating floor is a good solution for a slab basement. Be sure you get the sealed pad to go under it and it will feel great to walk on. I have a floating floor in my basement too. I think it's much nicer than tile, linoleum or carpet on top of a slab. The issues you may hit. The concrete slab may not be level across it's surface, try getting a long (12 foot or more) level and see where the dips/humps are in the slab. If it's really bad you can get a self leveling concrete product at HD/Lowes that you can pour on top of the slab. The dips in slab will cause the floor to feel like it's giving away under you when step there. If your basement floods the floating floor (or any floor for that matter) will be toast. It will still look okay, but all the seems will be obvious. We had a 100 year rain storm and we got water that came up through the slab, ended up with ~4 in the basement. Arghh. Make sure you have a good working drainage for your foundation before investing big $ on the inside of the basement.

- Moisture is the big issue. Wood floors over concrete can be either glued down, or floated. A glued down floor is self explanatory. A floating floor is laid over a layer of moisture resistant foam, and held in place by virtue of its own weight and shoe molding around the baseboards. A good flooring store will come to your house and measure the moisture in the concrete with a moisture meter before selling you any product.
