- Q: Hi, I might be installing a floating floor that uses plastic connectors to join each plank. They lock together great, however I can still feel the separation between each plank. Can I add clear lacquer to the floor after it is completely installed to give it a uniform feel?
- You shouldn't. The factory finish is done under quality controlled eviroment. Any finish you put on will not last as long. If it is installed right, the joints are barely noticable.
- Q: what does it mean, that your pool has a sponge floor?
- Obviously the floor of the pool isnt made of sponge, so I have no idea. Is that something that someone said, or what? Where did the question come from? If it is something somebody said to you, it's probably just meant in a discriptive sense. I did a search on google, nothing came up.
- Q: Another laminate flooring question.I am laying this floor in a family room which has a total of 7 doorways. What is the best method of installing this kind of floor along(not through) doorways?
- just keep in mind that laminate floats, so it needs to be able to move underneath the door jamb. when you say doorways, are there doors or just openings? if its an opening, then you can cover it with a baseboard. if its a door, then use a dremel cut off wheel to notch out a little of the jamb, and tuck the laminate just barely under the jamb, so there is a little hollow there but you cant see it. cover the ends with a transition or a reducing moulding (sold at hardware stores, depends on if the laminate is taller, shorter or the same as whats on the other side of the door)
- Q: Hi I would like to clean my room's floor with dettol. But I don't know how to use it. It is a bottle and there's dettol liquid inside there. I'm thinking to mix with water and then use cloth to clean the floor. How many dettol drops should use for 1 litre of water?
- Dettol Floor Cleaner
- Q: We just bought new furniture for our lounge and dinning room, the sofa and cairs are brown leather and the tables are light oak. Do you think our floor should match the colour of the tables or should the contrast e.g light wood furniture with dark floors. please help as i have no clue
- Dark floors, would look a lot better, plus a dark floor look a lot better than light with the light oak.you could find a large light colored area rug to make it look fantastic.
- Q: Living home multi-storey solid wood flooring
- Well, yes, life home multi-layer solid wood flooring and antique flooring in the industry is double champion, worth recommending!
- Q: I have a GP Small Tent and want to add a floor. Do you have plans / ideas for constructing a floor?
- A nice waterproof tarp combined with some education on where and where not to set up camp.
- Q: What is the quality of b grade laminate flooring? Does it scratch if a piece of paper touches it?
- While not specific to laminate flooring, grade 'b' flooring in general is a step down from the top of the line, generally exhibits subtle flaws on the surface but maintains an even coating surface (that is to say, you don't have to fill extra space). With most hardwoods this translates to a rating of #1 or #2 common floors. With Laminate floors I would guess that there would be mild warping, and slight unevenness in the surface. Perhaps a lower quality laminate used, but mostly a lower grade particle board backing, which would lend itself to being cracked along the seems easier.
- Q: if this helps my laminate floor is not cheap
- i have laminate floors and my kids spill stuff all the time on them and i use Swifter wet and dry!
- Q: Can radiant floor heating be installed in the concrete pour, then after concrete has sufficiently cured (28 days) can a resinous coating, such as a epoxy/polyurethane floor coating be installed on a floor that will later be radiant heated. My concern is that these coatings are very moisture intolerant. Does radiant floor products, create any moisture in the slab that could rise to the surface. Does changes in temps affect the moisture levels in concrete. Electric radiant floor products seem to be best.Pipes filled with hot water to me is a concern. Do the pipes "sweat" causing condensation or are they wrapped. I am currently on a large project and these questions are coming up in the design forum.
- There are three types of radiant heat for floors. First there is the electric, also the water, but there is also a product called AirFloor which uses a multi-duct system that is poured into the concrete. These little network of ducts replaces the standard duct system for the building. Either way you go, moisture shouldn't be a problem. If you are worried about the resinous coating, go with a true polished concrete. It will last forever and is maintenance free. As long as the building is kept at a constant temperature, sweating shouldn't be an issue. Good Luck
