Q:difference between adaptor charger ?how can i measure the current form the output of an adaptor from the output of charger with a multimeter ?thanks: Charger uses to charge battery,it does not require a pure DC source. Its output contains ripple (Ham) .Therefore charger should not be use to supply power source to electronic device. Adaptor has better filter circuit and regulator (many cheap make adaptors only good for use as a charger) that provide stable DC source to replace the battery power. Use a DC current meter that has a range to measure 10 ampere and 1 ampere. Put two probes in series with one of the charger output.(red probe connects to the positive output,other black probe now becomes the positive output). connect black probe to the device accept positive power,connect other negative output from charger to the device where accept negative power. Set meter to measure 10A,if not much reading shows,set meter to measure 1A. Warning: meter fuse burns if you set meter range at 1A to measure output has 10A load. Some cheap current meter without fuse protect shall turn into smoke.

Q:I need a 500 mA current to charge my device. The chargers I have say output 5V-1A and 5V-0.85A. Which one is 500 mA? Isn't 1A1000mA? If so, does that mean that the 0.85A is putting out 850 mA? Also, the battery is a 4.2V battery. Will a 5V charger overcharge it? I really cannot afford to overcharge/damage the battery. It goes on an e cig tank and I don't want the battery to blow up in my face. I need the correct charger. Does anyone know for sure what I need? I know I need the current at 500 mA, but what about the voltage?: This is the askerI also had a question about the charging cable and forgot to ask. The device came with a charging cable, but nothing to plug it into. So, will the cable reduce the current to 500mA if the cable has a exact rating resistance in ohms to lower to current to the specified amount? If so, then the charging current would be correct if the cable doesn't overheat and melt. But that still leaves a 5V charge into a 4.2V battery. Q:hi, basically i have had my laptop for about 2 years, i play football manager alot and the charger gets quite hot, but i leave it on even if the laptop is charged fully. I recently started playing flight sim x, and i leave the charger in. When i was playing it i noticed my charger wansnt working, so i bought a replcment one. Working fine at he start but two hours later it stopped working whilst i was on flight sim x and it had got quite hot, both chargers do not work anymore, thanks: Sounds like it's your battery. I know most people have this idea that you should unplug the charger when the battery is fully charged. Okay, my wife started using her laptop as a desktop after she got her net book. So her laptop has been plugged in since February 2010. Her battery is just fine. Also it still holds a good charge. The Dell laptop is over 5 ears old. The battery or charger has never been replaced.

Q:I have two battery chargers in series and in float mode and load sharing enabled on both of them. They will not share the load equally so one battery charger is in constant alarm for low current. When you have two chargers in series should only one of the chargers be in load sharing?: Off the top of my head, I'd say you can't do that. At least, maybe using two identical 12V chargers in the same mode in series to get 24V but it sounds like a bad idea. Load sharing I believe is intended for chargers in parallel, and requires an interconnect cable and support for load sharing in the design. If you have two batteries in series, you should be able to charge them independently using two possibly different models of charger, as long as the charger outputs are allowed to float and are not tied to ground.

So do you know?: The charger will have its input voltage marked on a label and probably also in the instruction book. It is normal for chargers and other power supply units bought in the UK and Europe to accept multiple input voltages. But the USA tends to be a bit isolationist and many electrical things sold over there will not work over here without some form of transformer. This saves their manufacturers some money when they're making power units. It seems as though your charger is seeing twice the mains voltage that it is expecting and has shut down. This may be a temporary thermal cut out, or it may have blown an internal fuse. If it's temporary then a 230 to 110 volt auto transformer will make it work again. In the worst case scenario the charger has sent too much to the camera, briefly before it shut down, and damaged it. That may be why the one size fits all charger doesn't work. The best thing for you to do is to take camera and charger to a Sony main dealer/authorised repairer, and have them check it all for you. Look for your nearest authorised repairer on the Sony web site.
