Q: I just gone looking for my charger and realised my phone charger is still plugged into wall at work! Q: I have a samsung charger for my cell phone. It suddenly stopped working yesterday. When I plug it in it doesn't charge my phone at all. If I hold it in really tight it chargers, but it stops as soon as I put it down. And also if I hold the cord a certain way it charges, but if it moves at all it will stop.I have no idea whats wrong with it. I tried several different outlets and it still doesn't work. Basically - what happens if the amps are too high? or too low? Will I damage the devices? Can I go one direction but not the other?Both use standard USB cables to charge from my laptop. Does anyone know what volt and amps are produced by standard USB cables for charging?Basically - each as a wall charger and a car charger. Q: I have an acer aspire and its charger is plugged in, but won't charge? Everything is connected, but it wont get any charge. Is it the outlet or is it the charger??: It could be the battery. Most of the time when you connect your charger to the laptop there is a light that turns on to indicate the charger is connected and sending power. Easy way to test for problems. Try another outlet, try a lamp in the old outlet. If the lamp doesn't work and it charges in the other outlet, you have an outlet issue. If the light comes on, but the laptop won't hold a charge, but CAN turn on and stay on while plugged in, your charger works and it is the battery. If you try multiple outlets with the charger and the laptop can't stay on with the charger in any of them, you need a new charger chord. Usually though it's the battery.

So The orignal charger has a charge rate of 9.5/12.8 AMPs Your different charger has a charge rate of .5 AMPs In theory it would work fine, just charge 38% slower. However I always say better safe than sorry, and would just order the right charger. Because I don't if the charger has auto-stop, if it trickle charges, if it peak-charges, etc There are other variables, but in theory the charger you have would work. Just account for the extra charging time, due to the lower amp output.
