Q: The recipe is for Blue Cheese Bacon Mini Corn dogs. I was reading the magazine in a dentist's office, and didn't have time to right it down. I figured it would be on the Better Homes Gardens web site, but it isn't, and I couldn't find it any where else on line. Also...would cubed steak taste better than mini hot dogs with the blue cheese and bacon?
Well I see you were given the recipe. I have another suggestion for you. Whenever this has happened to me while waiting in a doctors office, if there's an article that I want to finish reading, etc. I just ask the receptionist if I can take the magazine home with me. They've never said no before. I also like to return the favor by taking my own read magazines and giving them to my doctors offices to add to their collection. Not only am I returning the favor but the magazines are put to good use, a lot better than throwing them away. (my trash company doesn't offer those recycle bins)
Q: I had an old, old version of the Better Homes and Gardens white and red checkered cookbook. I used to make an old Corn Chowder Recipe. Any one have it? or know where to get it? We're talking 50's or 60's. I can recall some of the ingredients: Brown Onions and bacon, add cubed potatoes and water. Corn, milk, bay leaf, can't remember anything else. I adapted it by putting in pieces of cooked chicken breast meat and tomato paste. Any one????
In my edition from the mid 60s I find Supper Corn Chowder 5 slices bacon 1 medium onion, thinly sliced and separated in rings 2 cups cooked or canned whole kernel corn 1 cup diced cooked potatoes 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup 2 1/2 cups milk 1 teaspoon salt Cook bacon till crisp in large sauce pan. Remove bacon; pour off drippings. returning 3 tablespoons to pan. Add onion and cook till lightly browned. Add remaining ingredients and dash pepper. Heat to boiling reduce heat and simmer a minute or two. Top each serving with crumbled bacon and butter. Makes 6 servings.
Q: What is the best kind of tobacco to buy for making tobacco water for pesticide for my home gardens. I bought a can of Grizzly natural Chewing tobacco becasue it was cheap, but is there a better brand to buy or are cigarette tobaccos better to use for pesticides? Also what is the best method of making it? I heard that just boiling in a pot of water and straining out the tobacco works well but is there a better way?
N. Rustica has the highest amount of nicotine and is often used as a pesticide. Boiling it down will work just fine.
Q: i have a water garden that has running water like a river and there's moss??? how did the moss get there?
Moss grows in moist environments. If a seed was somehow carried over, or already there, it would grow near the river.
Q: I just was hired onto an overnight garden recovery, he said it was like overnight freight, but im still curious as to what exactly id be doing, if anyone who worked there knows
I think it must be that you will be getting plants in by the truckload during the overnight hours, and you will be setting them out in the plant area for the customers who come in when they open up.
Q: umm i know that theres these magzine that u can buy furniture from and pay monthly for the things u buy, wats the websites name? and name of the magazine??
Home and garden Pottery Barn ummmm there are so many!

Q: My husband and I just bought our first home. We have been living in apartments for years and know nothing about gardening, etc.We pulled up a bunch of dead flowers, bushes, etc. around the house and now want to replant some. We know that we should plant perrenials, as I don't want to do this every year. I would like something that brings a little color to the garden. We have three different areas to plant them in. Two of the areas are not shaded, one is partially shaded.Any suggestions?
Please be more specific, need to know where you're living, the situation (I.e seaside, mountain, farmland, etc;).Also, the aspect of your land (Which compass point does it face),the type of soil,(Sandy, stony, rocky, loam or clay). Is the garden sheltered or exposed, all have a bearing on the most suitable plants. Suggest a DVD or a subscription to a gardening magazine before investing a lot of money in what may be unsuitable plants. Hope this helps, good luck with your new garden-it'll provide endless amusement! OK,Back again.Buy a cheap soil testing kit.Check if the soil's acid, alkaline or neutral. That'll give you an idea what type of plants will suit, any good nursery will advise and most plants are labelled. Container grown roses are a good bet if the soil's fairly good.Considering the temps;mentioned they'd need watering well, but can be bought in bloom for an instant show. There's a start for the sunny areas, consult a local nurseryman for the shady part.Ferns, hostas, lily of the valley and rock geraniums might suit, but take local advice.
