Q: we tried ours today at grandparents house.. they have the hgtv... and nothing worked... (works fine at home) any ideas?
HG? As in Mercury? Or Home Gardens? Or do you mean HDTV? If the TV has a yellow RCA jack on the back (for composite video cables), you use the cable that came with for a standard-definition (480i) signal. The Wii is capable of enhanced-definition, progressive scan video (480p), and that requires a component video cable (where the video signal is split over 3 RCA cables - usually colored red, blue, and green). Most HDTVs have component video jacks on the back. Usually you have select what input jack you want to use on the TV.
Q: What is considered a garden home? in reviewing condo's for sale, in multi-unit buildings, they use quot;garden homequot; as a description. Is that a ground floor unit? does anyone know? thank you.
In general, here in Oklahoma, a garden home is one floor with small yards that are cared for by the association that governs the homes in that grouping. This means for gardeners-- very limited access for your own wants i.e. you want to grow tomatoes but the association forbids tomatoes. If you are looking at this type home, please do read the association rules, regulations and costs very carefully. good luck
Q: I live in an apartment without a patio but I have two E/W facing windows, so I pretty much always have some sunlight. Are there any relatively small plants(herbs, maybe?) that can be grown indoors, in a small planter, and without a whole lot of light? Also, having a planter that hangs out of a window isn't an option because there is a brick quot;lipquot; right outside both windows.
most herbs will grow in a winow garden. If you check out the home and garden section of most stores they even sell small kits compleate with pots, seeds and soil. Ivy will grow inside well as well as poka dot plant a neat little plant with pink dots on the leaves. Some kinds of Hosta stay small and it thrives in partial sun.
Q: I'm looking to buy Landscape Design software for DIY projects. I'm reading good things about Better Homes and Garden Home Design Suite and Punch! softwares. Anyone used them or have any recommendations for either, both, or something else?
Most of the software available, including Better Homes and Garden Suite, is tricky to use and really leaves you without any real plan. Honestly, I would recommend using good old fashioned pencil and paper to come up with your initial design. Or perhaps try the free Sketch-up software from Google. Just search for Google Sketch Up. Another idea might be to call your local community college and see if one of their design students might put something together for free as a resume' builder or perhaps a class project. Also, many nurseries will put together a professional design for free if you buy the plants from them. Hope that helps!
Q: I am looking for a specific recipe. I bought the Better Homes and Gardens Christmas Cookie Magazine last year (2010). But I have recently lost it. Anyone know what the one recipe was? It was either a pumpkin cake or pumpkin bars that called for cream cheese icing in the end. I haven't found any other recipe that lived up to this one. Can anyone help me? I need it for Thanksgiving!

Q: husband built a beautiful porch with planter boxes on the side I want to grow spices can anyone give me links with how to info and pictures of the plants
You probably mean herbs, not spices. Most spices grow in tropical or subtropical areas. Herbs can be grown in the home garden in Northern America and Europe. I've listed a link for growing herbs. Just stay away from the mints-they are too invasive for a planter box.
Q: The house that I was raised in, Seattle, Wash., was featured in an issue of 'Better Homes and Gardens', sometime in the mid-fifties. I don't know the year or month, all I know is the address, and what years I lived there. ... Can anyone help?
my recommendation is to call the magazine directly
Q: i am considering buying a barratts home and want to know if the garden will be laid to lawn or if i have to pay extra
For the right price, I'm sure the builder will do any kind of landscaping you want.
Q: i have to make business cards for some of the gods and need a catchy slogan for....... Aprodite's Modeling Agency, Hestia's Home and Garden, Hera's Bridal Shop, and Iris's Art Institute.Thank you soooooooooooooo much!!!!!
Aphrodite: Release you outer beauty (goddess) Hestia: Make your home as warm as Hestia's hearth! Hera: Have a wedding to last for eternity! Iris: Release the rainbow: Find your inner artist. Hope I helped!!!
Q: Some A$$H0LE applied pesticides to my entire home garden, and left a pesticides application sign. I want to know if the vegetables I grew are still safe to eat after I clean it.
Actually if what you mean by cleaning is soaping and rinsing it, PERHAPS it may be safe to eat it. But precaution is safer by delaying harvesting your vegetables. Most pesticides usually loss effects after a week. After this period, you can harvest your veggies for consumption. Be sure to wash it very well before using.
