Q:My boyfriend's birthday is coming up and i wanted to get him a bonsai tree since he can't stop talking about them. Where can i buy one at that isn't too expensive? I was thinking maybe the home and gardens section at home depot or something like that. It needs to be a place i can drive to and nothing online.Thank you so much!
Home and Gardens, Wal Mart, Target, Asian store, K mart, Raley's..These are places I have seen them except Kmart I'm just assuming on that. I don't know for sure as each individual store doesn't sell exactly the same things. I have even seen them at Bog Lots before too. :) Good Luck!
Q:Just wondering which to get first to make my home or garden!!!
garden lights or walkway lights are nice and add a little something to an outdoor space. if you want to go with an environmentallyy friendly option, try solar lights that run completely off solar power. they usually have a nice white or blue glow to them also.
Q:I have a container garden that I would like to improve somehow with some cool ideas. I cannot have a real garden because I live in an apartment.
I can pretty much only container garden since our house is a rental (plus I have a four month old baby...no energy/time). Here are some pictures of the new summer planters I just did a few weeks ago. It's a west-facing exposure that bakes pretty well in warm weather. Come fall I'll replace this scheme with pansies/violas and mums. If you put a trellis or netting on your railing you could probably grow clematis or some annual vines in big pots too.
Q:We're replacing our decks railing, so I thought it would be nice to use it as a fence around some raised vegetable garden beds. We're planning on selling the house in 5 years or so, would this be appealing to buyers? A nice vegetable garden? Thanks!
Absolutely not. There may be a very few buyers who would find it appealing, most would just rip it out. Either way it would have no effect on the market value of the house. Do what makes YOU happy, since you intend to be there for several more years.
Q:Does anyone know where I can get a garden planter that is shaped like a fishing boat? My dad always said when he retiered he would be able to go fishing anytime. I want to put a boat planter on his grave and plant live flowers in it. I have searched the internet and can not find one. If anyone knows where I can find one please let me know.

Q:...imply they are about home and family and children. The best selling men's magazines are Playboy and Maxim. They are about the good life...fun, toys, and access to beautiful women without commitment. If you carry these choices to the logical end where they represent men's and women's primary fantasies, then for men marriage means sacrificing their primary fantasy and for women, marriage means fulfilling it. Anyone care to comment?
Good question, here are my thoughts: If we go back to prehistoric times, the same thing would apply. I think that it's in a woman's nature to be more interested in homes and families. Once she is pregnant, she's essentially taken out of the running. She carries the baby for nine months and then spends the next decade or so raising it. It's only natural for her to be more concerned with family, homes, and a stable environment. Men on the other hand have the ability to go wham bam, and take off running. They aren't stuck with any responsibilities. Both sexes would have been concerned with passing along their genetics, but while women would have been more concerned with commitment, men would have been more interested in landing themselves as many fertile young 'uns as possible. I think this carries through to today. However, society dictates that a man should be faithful and committed to his wife. I think those kinds of magazines simply appeal to a primitive instinct within men. Oooh, one more thought. I don't think men read books in the same way women do. They're more visual, and so magazines like Playboy are the result. But have you ever read a woman's romance novel?! Talk about erotica. I think magazines just appeal more to the way a man's mind works...
Q:I planted some Romano beans and some corn just a week before last. What stunned me--by the end of the first week--was just how *fast* the corn grew, while only *one* of my Romano bean cups blossomed in full--while the other three have not.Why is that? All 4 were planted at the same time, all got the same amount of sunlight and such, but only *one* exploded outright. Is it genetics, a 'switch' that still needs to be turned on, or is it something else entirely?I'm sure that the rest will grow on their own--eventually--but this recent growth spurt just took me by surprise.
What makes you think that corn and beans -- two totally different species of plant -- are supposed to grow at the same pace? That's sort of like looking at a 6-month-old baby (Roe vs. Wade survivor) and a 6-month-old puppy, and then saying, I can't figure out why the puppy is walking, but the baby isn't! .
Q:I guess a statue of a cherub or something would work better, but I really like thai statues.
depends on the size of the statue big=ugly, small-small/medium=good
Q:I'm making mystical magical garden I'm looking for life like dragon statues does anyone know where I can find some?
garden center lows homedepo
Q:Does anyone have any recommendations for finding an older 2001 issue of Better Homes and Gardens? I'm looking for a Pastry recipe featured in one of the issues (with the 1785 Inn Buleberry Pie) and none of the libraries in my area carry the older issues. I know you can sign-up and log onto the site but I don't see the logic in paying an annual subscription for just one recipe. Any thoughts or recommendations?
Read the questions on these boards. It will become abundantly clear that not everyone can follow a recipe. For what it's worth, I always vary recipes when I bake, and that would be why people consider me to be a good baker. The ability to customize a recipe to be exceptional, as well as the ability to make your baked goods beautiful is what sets apart the average from the great.
