Q: What does Home & Garden think of Heavy Metal?
We couldn't care less We like turtles `edit. Storm blew my outdoor plants over yesterday.
Q: What is considered a garden home? in reviewing condo's for sale, in multi-unit buildings, they use quot;garden homequot; as a description. Is that a ground floor unit? does anyone know? thank you.
Assuming vines would be allowed to sprawl or could be adequately supported I would plant winter squash and lima beans around the edges and, between them, a row of parsnips or sweet potatoes. For my winter crops I would plant a few collards, some turnips and some rutabagas, maybe some beets and either kale or kohlrabi in the tomato patch. Other than the kale and collards these can be stored for later use. If there is a freezer or the ability to can produce even they could be stored. Good luck and enjoy!
Q: I can't seem to find the email / webpage / telephone for these bungalows in Phi Phi. Can you help me?
not sure if this will help..
Q: RIP chloe
It means a raven was coincidentally in your garden after your dog was put down. RIP.
Q: What is a good home remedy for bugs in the Garden and Lawn.
Jeez. It all depends on where you are, the weather, what plants you are growing, and what pests you have. A lot of bugs in the garden are beneficial. Some are not. There are a lot of home remedies for bugs out there, but you need to know what type of bug it is. Some can be removed by hand, some by spraying with soapy water, some by spraying with pressurised water... it all depends. There's also biological controls available like encarsia and ladybugs. Next time, pick a plant with a pest and describe the problems. You'll get a better answer.
Q: We just bought our first home and there is a large garden in the front yard that was started but never finished. It has decrative stones and it's freshly mulched, but nothing has been planted. Now what? Any suggestions? It's partly shaded, partly sunny. I would like to fill it with something pretty, but most of all EASY! I've never gardened before - HELP!
Hi: I am a landscaper and designer and there are a couple of different things you could do. You could remove the decorative stone and mulch and set it aside to use, or you could just move them enough to plant some trees, shrubs and flowers. The only concern I have with the second option is you probably don't know if the ground has been prepped properly. Properly preparing any ground and soil is critical for a healthy garden. You have invested money in your first home, and landscaping is also an investment. I personally would recommend to take the decorative stones and mulch out. Properly prep your garden. I have a page on my website called plan - prep - and plant. This is a simple method to do any garden. You will want to til the area first and rake it out. Hopefully you can save as much of the stones and mulch. You might have to replace some, but it would be better than having dead plant speicmens in a few months. There are many different plants you could plant. I usually recommend starting out with trees, if you are going to plant them. You can do phase planting and the trees will be put in first, wait awhile and rest your wallet, and then plant some shrubs and flowers. I will link you to the gallery of plants section of my website and also my site map. The gallery has a variety of photos of trees, flowers and shrubs, with climate zones. I will also link you to the site map as this page has everything that is on the website. There are hand drawn designs for you to see, garden projects, outdoor features and other tips and techniques. Browse through and see if any of this information will help you. Good luck to you, and if you need some help, feel free to contact me. Have a great day! Q: We're selling our house and the house inspector suggested GFI;s in the kitchen. It's a 50 year-old house. Can you put GFI's on a 2 wire electrical system?
I think the answer is no, you can't. But I suggest you post this in sub-forums Maintenance Repairs and DIY in the Home Garden forum. You will probably get more interest in your question and more expertiese in your problem. I think home theater forum was a reach for a solution to your problem.
Q: I'm looking for the buckeye candy recipe from he Better Homes Gardens Christmas Cookie publication from 1998. They had a 50-State salute that year, and the buckeye was the recipe for Ohio. If anyone has this, please please post it for me.
Try this: Makes: about 72 buckeyes Prep: 45 minutes Chill: 4 hours 30 minutes Ingredients 3/4 cup butter (no substitutes) 3-1/4 to 3-3/4 cups sifted powdered sugar 1 cup peanut butter 1 tablespoon milk 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 16 ounces semisweet chocolate 1 tablespoon shortening Directions 1. Melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Or, microwave in a microwave-safe bowl on 100-percent power (high) for 1 to 2 minutes. 2. Combine melted butter and 2 cups of the powdered sugar in a medium mixing bowl. Beat until smooth. Add peanut butter, beating until combined. Stir in milk and vanilla. Beat in enough of the remaining powdered sugar to make a firm, crumbly-looking mixture. 3. Roll mixture into 1-inch balls. Arrange on a tray; chill for 30 minutes. 4. Meanwhile, melt chocolate and shortening in a heavy saucepan over low heat. Cool slightly. Using a fork, dip three-fourths of each ball into chocolate mixture so the ball resembles a buckeye. (If the chocolate mixture hardens, remelt over low heat.) 5. Place balls, undipped portion up, on a tray lined with waxed paper. Chill until firm. Store in refrigerator. Makes about 72 buckeyes. Q: Long story short, I had a sharper image home theater 2.1 speaker system
accessories4less(dot)com There's super cheap receivers there. All you need is a basic 2.1 stereo receiver. You can get a Onkyo TX-8255 for $119 which will work fine, for those types of speakers you wont need alot of power at all, trust me. If you wanna go super dirt cheap look for a sony stereo receiver but they suck and arent reliable. Be sure that sub connects through an RCA and is a powered sub, if its a passive sub that connects through speaker wire then you wont be able to buy a receiver that will connect right.
