Q: So my bathroom sink is really clogged. There's a small pool of water in my sink that won't drain at all. I dumped boiling water down the overflow hole but that didn't do anything. I used a plunger on the hole in the sink which still didn't do anything. I've used a bent hanger w/ a hook on the end to get out stuff from it but there's nothing else getting stuck on the hanger. I don't have a snake or anything to use. Is there a way I can get the water to drain at least long enough to get drain-o. And even then, if the water doesn't drain in that time, will drain-o still get through the pipes when there's water in it. Please help me out here. Thank you so much. <3
1st try to take the trap off and see if it's clogged there. If not try plunging again while holding a wet rag tightly over the overflow hole. If you don't cover the overflow while plunging, the plunger's pressure is release there rather than the pipes. It also may help to put a little water in the sink while plunging to help make a better plunger seal to the sink. One more thing, cheap plungers aren't worth buying, use a good flexible one. One more last note, personally I dislike using chemicals because if they don't work (which they often don't), you'll have those caustic chemicals in your trap if have to take it off, be sure to use rubber gloves. If none of that works, get a cheap snake from Home Depot, Lowes, etc., take the trap off (get new trap washers if need be) and snake through the pipe in the wall where the trap goes in.
Q: how are ceramic bathroom sinks shaped?
Ceramic fixtures are made of clay. That clay is shaped (often poured from a liquid form into a mold). The clay dries and hardens that clay is then fired in a kiln at extremely high temperatures, converting it to a very hard material. It is then coated with glaze, and fired again, filling the pores and giving it the smooth shiny surface.
Q: Do not buy ceramic pots counter
When buying pots should be clear, to the basin or to the pot under the basin, the two are not the same, the stage pot compared to the audience to look better, but the price is also slightly expensive, and later do health as pot Convenience
Q: my old sink had a over flow hole in it and the new sink does not.can i still use the same drain pipe or is there a different type that i need to get?
You're in good shape- the overflow was internal. The same drain is all you need.
Q: It's not clogged, I've used drain-o, and it's been this way for several years...it's driving me nuts. I'm a stay at home mom and want to WOW my hubby with my fix-it skills;o) But, I have no idea how to fix it...any ideas?
Dear luvmyfam: Try running a flexible snake down your drain to dislodge or remove what is obstructing your drain pipe. More often than not matter builds-up at the plumbing tree located in the wall in back of the drain pipe that is usually visible under your sink. If you elect to try this be sure to run water when inserting the snake in to the drain pipe and counter turn it when back it out of the pipe moderately pulling back on it at the same time. The snake I am recommending can be purchase at any home improvement store like Ace Hardware, Home Depot or Lowes for a reasonable price. Or if you find it more to your liking get bids from your local drain services in your community. Best wishes,
Q: Water takes forever to go down the drain, and weve tried draino and vinegar and baking soda, which neither worked. We cant snake because the damn stopper doesnt come out. What else can we do?
Go underneath the sink and remove the P trap. It is the S shaped pipe directly under the sink that blocks sewer gasses from flowing back up the pipe and into the house. Chances are it is clogged and you can clean it out after removal. If that is not the case and the P trap is clear, your system is now open to be snaked, bypassing that problematic stopper. Even if you have a removable stopper, there is usually a grate that prevents a snake from being deployed in that position anyway. Plumbers never snake that way because it is very difficult to get the snake through the P trap.
Q: Bathroom small pots choose what kind of good, wall length 1 m, width 60 cm, please help
You can choose a small bowl-type basin, elegant and without losing the atmosphere, suitable for small area bathroom use. General size between 40X55, just for your space like this.
Q: Ok I was washing my bathroom sink with some sort of cleaner and apparently it was not the right kind. Since then the sink does not drain properly (dirty water stays in it for days and days) and there are a million little hairs (from shaving) stuck in the basin. It seems it melted whatever material it is made out of (some kind of ceramic, i think). Not only is it gross and hard to use (I cant run water for very long or it will fill up) but I am also afraid what it is going to cost. Does anyone know how I can fix this, or how much it is going to cost (to be taken out of my apartment deposit)? Thanks.
try drano or something to clean the drain
Q: so my bathroom sink is filled with puke cause my sister was sick. I put draino in it, then ten minutes later I put a little more, then I put hot water, and then it didnt work so I put baking soda and then I realized I had no vinegar. Now what do I do? As you can see, Im very untrained and want to clean this up before my parents get home. Please answer, fast, please
The easiest fix, which may or may not be the source of the problem. Is remove the elbow pipe. If you look under your sink there will be a straight pipe going down, then a U or sometimes referred to as J shape that then goes sideways. The U is the elbow. Loosen the two clamps, take it out, clean it. Put it back together the same way you took it apart (really simple). If the clog is not in there. You may have to go buy a pipe snake at the hardware store and snake the drain.
Q: I undid the P trap under my bathroom sink to clear a clog and now when I put the whole thing back together it leaks out of the top of the slip joint that connects the down pipe from the sink drain to the j-pipe. The down pipe is 1 - 1/4 and the j-pipe is 1-1/2 and I am using the correct reducer gasket. It was not leaking (and never had) before I took it apart. I have tried using a new gasket and teflon tape on the threads of the slip joint to no avail. Please give me some idea as to what the problem might be. Here is a link to a couple of pictures to show the general set-up and the specific problem: http://www.flickr /photos/sesquilia/?saved=1Thanks to anyone that can help.
1 -Remove the nut and look up INTO the top of the nut and you will see the plastic washer. 2- Make sure the curve edge is pointing downward, if not pry it out and turn it around 3 - re-tighten the nut, but start it very careful since you can cross thread. 4- once you hand tighten, apply more pressure to make sure the nut has 'bottomed out with the gasket into the pipe. By having the curve part of the washer correct placed, it will seal the joing.
