- Q: I need to connect two laptops with a communications cable to transfer data between them. I had backed up all the data one from one computer to the other, by linking them them with a communications cable (i don't know if it is a croosover cable or anything). It had worked, and i had copied data by browsing the computer through the other one. But know i can't figure out which ip address i had given each and blablabla. I need to connect them successfully and transfer data. THe computers both have xp, one has home edition, other professional. please help.
- Go into your Network Connections folder. Click on Setup a new Connection and the New Connection Wizard will appear. On the first page you are asked what you wish to do, select the option of an advanced connection. Follow the pages and ensure that the Workgroup is the same for each system, and that the computer names are different. Do the same on the second computer and you will soon have a connection between the two computers where you can share data and printers if you wish to do that too. It is all very simple and easy to do when you use the Wizard. You will eventually come to a page which asks if it is a virtual private network, select no. The next page asks who will be able to connect to the computer, select the account you wish to use on the other computer for file transfers. Finish up will each page it is pretty self explanatory. You can delete this connection at any time. Just right click on the connection in the Network Connections folder and select the option to delete the connection. You may need to disable the connection first. If the delete option is grayed out, select disable, then right click again and now select delete. Good luck and much success in getting your two systems communicating with each other. It is really not difficult, as you can create as many network connections as you like. It is a good idea to name each connection a descriptive name in order to easily tell which is which at a glance.
- Q: i just got a sansa fuze and i noticed that the data cable is almost exactly like the one for my ipod touch and i was wondering if i could possibly damage my ipod if i plug it into the computer using the sansa cable.

- Q: Hi all. I'm looking for some advice regarding starting a new career in data cabling. I read a little while ago about a skills shortage in network cabling and I was wondering about how I could gain these skills. I have no idea about which direction and what possible type of jobs I could get, so any suggestions or a nudge in the right direction is greatly appreciated. I've worked in telecoms previously and I loved the job, but I'm currently working as a software developer and hate being stuck behind a desk for 8 hours a day and I'm desperately looking for a fresh start. Thanks to all.
- i learned it in a NET+ class and then honed it while working for small subcontractors and electricians. Not my preferred job but it's a valuable skill once learned. practice making your own cables using crimpers and the web's resources on tia/eia-568 A and B standards. learn to make loopback cables too. these are so useful. ethernet looback terminations are 13, 26, 47, 58. good luck
- Q: I have an lg shine if that helps. I have a laptop, but I don't know what type it is. Thank you!

- Q: About how many seconds after a news reporter says something does your TV officially receive it with cable? As in how many seconds behind is your TV from when it actually happened?
- That depends on a lot of things, especially the route the signal takes from the camera to your TV. One would have to measure the delay to tell exactly what it is for that particular path. If the signal is purely analog (which is rare these days) the delay will be minimal. There will be some but it would not be easily noticeable. If the signal was sent over a satellite link, there is about a 2 second delay due to the distance involved. If the signal goes through any digital processing, there can be 1.5 to 3 seconds delay just for the encoding and decoding for each of the links. Trace the path of the signal and add up the delays. Three to five seconds on a network feed is not uncommon now days. Since you asked about cable, many cable systems are using digital encoders to provide digital cable. There is probably a 1.5 second delay or so just from that. That is on top of whatever delay was in the signal before it got to the cable company.

- The I850 is made by Motorola, you need motorola Phone tools, Motorola does not just give out their drivers, you either have to buy the software or find it online somewhere. When you have that program you will be able to do whatever you want to do with it.
