Q: Every vacuum cleaner I have ever had starts smelling burned after 1 min.of use. They barely pick up anything and I have to go over that spot 10 times.In addition I have to clean the rollers EVERY time before vacuuming. What amI doing wrong?This happens with all my vacum cleaners, new or used.: Do you have a lot of hair? If so, you will have to cut or pull them off the roller brushes to stop this from happening. Human hair gets wrapped around the roller burns as it slips under the rubber gasket/ring! If not, then I don't know what to tell you.

Q: The ball can move up and down. I looked closely, and the ball can seal the hole. I flipped my vacuum upside down and the pressure easily holds the ball there. I suppose it must be there to help the flow. Not sure if any swirling occurs below the impeller suction hole, but I doubt it. Is the sphere acting as a diffuser or nozzle somehow?Just wondering. Thanks.: Shop vacs are designed to suck up liquids and when the tank fills the ball will float and eventually plug the air suction opening to the blower. The ball is there to prevent liquid from the tank from being sprayed out of the vacuum and to protect the motor from that liquid.

Q: It also needs to have a good hose on it for vacuuming our sofas and be able to handle pet hair as we have a cat. Bagless is preferred: I have found that buying a cheap vac needs to be replaced very often. they don't vacuum well and break. I bought 2 great vacs (expensive but great). An Electrolux and a Dyson. both have out lived all of the cheap vacs ($100-$200) by a long shot
