Q: Greetings, all! I am currently cleaning my room, as in looking for dust spots and trying to sweep it up. I tried vacuuming, but my bird got scared and jumped to the bottom of the cage, so I figured to get a little birdhouse to move him while I did it. I also cleaned the lamp that I was using to give him light at night, and I accidentally swept too fast, I saw the particles rise around the cage. I got so worried. Should I be worried? Or is it only a large accumulation that could damage the bird? What can I do?Thanks in advance!: You will be fine. If you are worried about your little buddy next time you clean, put him in a different room. I have a cat carrier that I put my parrot in if I need to keep her in a different room for a bit. As for the other guy's joke about the vaccume....I actually have a friend whose boyfriend did vaccume up her parrotlet, fortunately it was a shopvac not a vaccume with a bag, and the bird was ok!

Q: My old vacuum cleaner is slowing breaking down. I've been looking around at new vacuum cleaners and everyone talks about how good the Dyson vacuum is. Is it worth it?: I like my Dyson but you should be aware of several things before you buy it. It is terrific on carpets but lousy on bare floors. The attachments fall off easily and its a real pain to use them with that retractable wand. Also, be sure and look for any small object that might get sucked into the brushes because the belt that runs them is very skinny and easy to break and impossible for you to repair without taking to a repair shop. I know because I've had mine in twice already - once when it caught the edge of an afghan and another time when a small cinder from my fireplace got into the brushes. Still, it cleans a carpet like nothing else I've ever used.

Q: is there a name for fear of vaccum cleaners? because I KNOW i have it! ever since i was an infant i would screem frickin bloody murder in my crib when my mom would run teh vacuum cleaner. when i was jsut a small child i would run from it, afraid it would suck up my toes. and now, today, at 14, i cannot STAND the loud noise they make and i do NOT put my toes in front of one. it takes me a few moments before i can even bring myself to turn it on. the bigger, louder they are, the worse my reactions. sometimes at work (i volunteer at a veterinary hospital) i have to ask one of my co-workers to do it because i will purposly busy myself just to get away from it.please, do not laugh at me. it's embarrassing enough and i just want to know the name of it.thankxx! :]: I'm very interested about the answer to this question

Q: Hi I'm considering buying one as I have back problems and vacuuming is tough for me, but I'm not sure how effective they would be. If anyone has used one, please let me know, Thank you!: A family member of mine has one. They have a few dogs, so the small container on the vacuum can hold only one day's cleaning. It does a great job of cleaning, but it has to be cleaned out daily and that process seems to take 20 minutes or so because of the dog hair twisted around all of the parts. Cleaning the machine requires taking it apart and washing or picking out the dirt.

Q: What are the best vacuum cleaners on the market today? I've heard good things about the Dyson, how bout you?: I bought a Dyson DC15 Animal in March. Upon opening the shipping box I was terribly disappointed in the quality of the plastic used. Very soft and flimsy material everywhere. I contemplated at that point bringing it back to the store, but decided to give it a try. The noise is somewhat unsettling. My kids and wife did not like the high pitched sounds it made. Motor and exhaust sound levels are quite high. Despite the claims of easy stair cleaning, I found it quite clumsy. The mini turbine head is air powered, not electric, and has very little power for real cleaning. Its speed dropped considerably when applied to the carpet. It looks and sounds great while held up to watch, but its functionality is poor. The flexible plastic hose is flimsy and appears very low quality. I started vacuuming a small area of floor about 4 feet square. The canister filled quite quickly and needed to be emptied. It needed emptying a few more times after cleaning the entire upper floor. Next cleaning was the same, as well as the time after that. Clearly my carpet isn't that dirty! The canister was filling not with dirt, but with carpet fiber. I was literally vacuuming up my carpet. The DC15 was returned to the store for refund. After the hype and optimism I was terribly disappointed. I'm back to looking for a replacement for my 35 year old Electrolux.
