Tower crane is a modern form of balance crane that consist of the same basic parts. - That depends on the load the crane needs to lift. Those cables will vary from 1/2 inch to about 2 inches. The cable is composed of individual strands, woven together, with a fiber core. The core allows the strands to move, such as flattening out as they move over the pulleys. The core also carries the oil needed for lubrication. The cables are usually rated at 1/7th of their real capacity for safety reasons.
