Q: I need a 3.5mm 5V DC power cable with a USB input. I do not want to order one online. What store would sell this? I already went to Best Buy and Radioshack.
Sorry okorder / You will be fine and wont be scammed. OKorder is a possibility but its a tad sketchy but its easy to use and not get again scammed but its your choice ofc i don't know the situation your in. im just guessing your worried about ordering online due to scamm websites, it could be that you simply don't have a card that can shop online (or even a card). Also delivery should be fairly quick (most being a week) so you won't be waiting too long either way. Turtle beach is based online, and distribute mainly from their website,(such is most designer accessories) the only reason they have their products in stores are because of their success online, and were able to expand but even then they only ever sell a few of their headsets in stores never their full range, then expecting parts is very rare. p.s i realise its a generic piece of equipment but its quite specific and there are very few things that use somthing that you've specified (not the sized and volt just a DC power cable that has a USB input) , that includes headsets, seriously most headsets don't require a power cable (and it having a power cable doesn't make it good) Hope this helps :S
Q: why my pc is shutting down and restarting only when removing the power cable and connecting it again?
DURTA DURR, THINGS DONT NEED POWER, THEY JUST SUMHOW WORK DURTA DURR UNPLUG BATTERIES FROM A WIRELESS MOUSE DURTA DURR DONT WORRY IT WILL WORK DURTA DURR
Q: when you install a power cable you usually route it through the door seal and under the carpet. If there are existing speaker wires that go to your rear speakers, will the power cable create an interference?
No, just run it through the middle of your car, not through the sides. My runs right under the cup holder area under the seats and right to the back. You cant even see it lol, my pros did a great job putting it in
Q: Hi everyone, I recently purchased a PS3 used not slim and am having a tough time with it. For one, I don't even know how to charge my four red dot blinking controller and turn on the ps3. I'm wondering since I got everything hooked up but still not even a red dot on the ps3 when I put in the power cable at the end there is that thing with the three things sticking out, where do I put that? Like a place where I charge my phone? I think that's why I'm having problems. Thanks.
ok. the PS3 uses a standard 3 prong plug, similar to what your PC would use. plug that in, and then into the wall. older PS3's also have a power switch right above the power cord. you have to turn the system on here. after you filp the switch, the PS3 enters standby mode. on to your controller you should have gotten a very short usb cable. the larger end plugs into the system.the smaller into the controller. push the PS button on the center of your controller to sync it. it should go from 4 flashing lights to one. then, it should steady flash position 1 to show that it is charging. one it is charged, or when the usb cable is removed, you should get a steady light. no flashes.
Q: I dont understand what it says about Peak and sustained power, also the cable says it needs 12v DC, and the power supply gives 650 watts. I don't understand any of this, can someone please explain this to me, and if this power supply doesn't work, please give me examples of ones that will work. Longest answer will get best answer. Thanks!
That Xbox power supply cable is pretty cool! I've never seen those before. Ok, as for the power supply questions: Peak power is the maximum amount of power the unit can supply for a short period of time (a few seconds at most). A computer, during start-up, will use quite a bit more power than once it has achieved steady state. This is because drives have to spin up, semiconductors have to power up, etc. Once everything is up and running, the power draw drops to nominal or steady-state Sustained power is the amount of power the unit can supply non-stop. When purchasing a power supply, always give yourself leeway. If a supply indicates it is 650 watts sustained and 80% efficient (gotta look at that efficiency!) then it can supply 520 watts of power continuously. Even at that, I wouldn't want to run it past 450 - 475 watts continuously. 12v DC is the high rail on a power supply. Different parts of the computer require different voltages to operate. Drive motors typically need the 12v DC, where as memory needs less than 3 volts. A computer power supply has different rails or supply wires which supply the following voltages: +12 volts DC, +5 volts DC, and +3 volts DC (there are some others but those are the key ones). I don't know what the power requirements are for an Xbox 360, but it obviously needs the 12 volt and 5 volt DC rails to power it. Anyway, the power supply you've listed above is more than adequate.
Q: What is the role of the power cable shield?
General cable maintenance period is about 15 years, but to ensure that the normal use of the environment, such as the amount of temperature is below 70 degrees, but you are more than 70 working environment to use, of course, may not be used for a year. Therefore, the most important thing is to follow the instructions to use. Wire and cable recommended Ogilvy's.
Q: I used my laptop as a home computer, most of the time I keep my laptop turned on with the power cable plugged in. Is it good to do that? or is it better to plug the power off whenever the laptop's battery is full? Which one is good for my laptop' maintenance? By the way, everytime I asked this question, people give different answers. So I really need a professional opinion.
Ok, straight to the point, keep it plugged. Besides losing the power over the time you have it unplugged, most laptops are equipped with a power saving feature that reduces it's power consumption. This means that the PC will have to use less for processing which in turn reduces your PC's speed. To check this out, try booting your Laptop with plug on. When you see the desktop, look for the my computer icon on the desktop or on the start menu. Right-click on it and select properties. Look for some number preceding Ghz and remember it. now, unplug the power cord from the laptop and restart the PC. do the same thing when you see the desktop after the restart. notice that the number you had the last time decreased. (if it did not decrease, then it means your laptop still operates at the same speed when unplugged and will be fine when unplugged) besides the speed reduction when unplugged, the screen will be dimmer when unplugged. also, when the batteries are full, they are not charging when the plug is still on the laptop. the laptop will use AC power when it knows that the batteries are full and it's plugged in.
Q: the cable for my psp wont plug all the way in anymore so i cant charge it. nothing has happened to the psp. it wasnt dropped or anything, just sat on the table. same with the power cord.anyone else have this problem and if so what did u do about it.and if your thinking about saying quot;contact sonyor anything like that...just leave. i can figure that out for myself ok.
MMMM. im not sure i think you might need to buy a new one if you try to force it in you might break something
Q: So I have a ordinary pc with a 500gb seagate hardrive in...and I have another seagate hardrive I want to put in (also 500gb) but do I need the sata power cable since it is not the main hardrive or can I only insert the Data cable for the harddrive since I didn't get any cables with my hardrive do I need need both cables, the Data and power cables or can only use the data cable ?
Hello You need to connect sata power cable and sata data cable both in order to make it work. One drive will be primary(from which OS will boot) and other will be secondary. Just connect both drive from motherboard using sata data cable in both ends also sata power cable. If not enough ports free in your smps then use a splitter cable to split the connection. Hope this helps 5 Years of experience in gaming software and hardware
Q: Two things:1.) Why when we're using an AC to step up the voltage the power has to remain constant?2.) Why is it if we increase the voltage by a factor of 100 we have to decrease the current by a factor of a hundred and therefore I^2R is decreased by a factor of 10,000
Power is generated at the power station and transferred to the end user your home by means of power cables. Unfortunately, some power is always lost in this transfer process. It's power NOT Voltage OR Current that is required to operate your home electrical appliance. Yes, current and voltages are involved ;but it is the PRODUCT of these two that makes up the power NOT the voltage or current individually. Power = Voltage x Current Power is lost in the cables as heat as given by your i^2R. To reduce the losses then we must reduce the current I. But, if I reduce the current and keep the voltage the same then the power will fall and my kettle/Xbox/curling tongs will no longer work at home. So, to keep the power up when reducing the current I must compensate by increasing the voltage and this means using a step up transformer. Near the homes, a step down transformer is used to reduce it back down again. Since the losses in a cable are a consequence of I^2R heating then it is important to reduce the current as much as possible when transferring power. If we assume the the resistance, R of the cable is constant, then a 10,000 reduction in power (power/10,000) gives P/10,000 = I^2 x R I^2 = Power/10, 000R I = square root of [const x 10,000] I = 100. Then using power = voltage x current reducing the current by 100 means increasing the voltage by 100 to keep the power the same.
