- The vacuum cleaners are hard enough to sell in a normal economy. In a lousy economy like what we have now, the job is vene more difficult. Folks don't buy a $1300 vacuum just because. They have to be fully convinced it is worth the money. It is very heavy, especially with the water in it, and you should not try to dismiss objections about carrying it up down stairs - that is really not recommended, and not to be advised because of the risk of injury. They either empty the unit of water, and refill on the second floor, or they buy a second system for the second floor - and you can double your sales! If you every find such a customer, give them a good discount on the second system, OK? Good Luck; but in case things are slow, I suggest you have another part time job ready.

- the electrical measure of the motor will not tell you how good the suction is. Two vacuum cleaners with the same motor type could have very different suction strength due to the motor design and even the design of the hoses. Honestly, I have never owned a Eureka, but the company has been making vacuum cleaners of high quality for a long time. If those are your two choices - go with the Eureka.
- Q: I have the Miele now, and see that Kenmore was top rated by Consumer Reports.
- Have used Kenmore for years, also based on C/R ratings. Mine is a cannister; works well on dog fur. As I recall, Miele's biggest problem was initial cost, so if it's working ok, stick with it, but if you NEED to replace it, go with Kenmore. (My sister-in-law, whose kids have asthma, also swears by Kenmore.)

- I had the same question a couple of months ago when my vacuum cleaner broke. Fortunately Consumer Reports had recently had an article on vacuum cleaners, so after reading the article I bought a Bissell Powerforce bagless at Wal-Mart for about $50 and I'm very pleased with it. It picks up pet hair and dirt much better than the old one, which cost twice as much.

- anything called industrial means it's built better (with steel rather than plastic) and lasts longer and cleans better. Everything you use takes a little work on your part though.

- target and walmart both sell inexpensive vacuum cleaners. the only issue is they are usually feather weight and do not hold very much dirt so they must be emptied frequently. You can also check your local craigslist for used vacuum cleaners :)
