- Q: I hate vacuum cleaners and my dad vacuums all of the time. Does anybody know of a silent vacuum cleaner?
- Only a central, whole house vacuum could come close to silence and then only if the fan/motor part was in the garage, outside or very deep in the basement. Vacuums work by turning a rather high speed fan and they are quite noisy. So, you would need to isolate that noise somewhere outside the living area to have a nearly silent system. Even then, moving air makes noise so... Bert.

- I do not know about the Henry Hound but the DYSON Animal is great. I think it could suck the paint off the wall if I left it there long enough.

- I have a Eureka upright, Boss bagless upright (with hose attachments). I have 4 kids and an indoor allergy bearing, super shedding dog. That vacuum has been a really good vacuum and when it dies I will get another Eureka. Walmart has Eureka, and I am sure I paid under $100 for mine. I will say I have a Bissell carpet cleaner that I also like. One brand I have never had good luck with is Dirt Devil.

- Pop into your local library and see if they have the 2010 Buying Guide that Consumer Reports puts out. That's the last one I remember seeing. However, I will warn you, I was disappointed. They rated Hoover very high and after having two of them and nothing but trouble with no results from Hoover, I went to a Bissell Healthy Home. Now happy as a clam with my vacuum.

- Q: Which vacuum cleaner moves easier for a person in a wheelchair? Are there controls that you have to use your feet for? How do they work in small rooms?
- The new dyson dc24 with the ball is super duper light weight and easy to push and turn. I don't know anything about a shark. The dyson is nice because the hose is so easy to pop out, and it has a handle so one could easily clean crevices and corners. The switches are on the main part of the vacuum, right below the handle and above the canister. It would work very well in a small room because it is a small vacuum.
