- Q:the sound comes on, but it doesn't suck anything up and the thingy underneath (dont know the technical term) doesn't turn. it's an old vacuum( a kerby). what's wrong with it. should i try to get this one fixed or just buy a new one. are there places that fix vacuum cleaners? thanks for any info.
- try cleaning the brushes under neath it. sometimes hairs and strings get wrapped around them. Check ur bag? u may have clogged suction hose. check yellow pages u might find a repair shop.

We've replaced all the filters and cleaned it but it still hardly picks up a thing. It leaves little hair balls on our carpet and kicks dust back in the air. - Any vacuum with good power will work. The recommended power is at least 12 amps. However, I have found that if a vacuum looses suction it doesn't matter how many amps it has. After many years of buying vacuums once a year, I finally gave up and bought a Dyson. They are wonderful but are a bagless vacuum and can be pretty pricey. About the same as the Electrolux. I understand the cost issue believe me, that's why I always bought the cheaper vacuums, it was all I could afford at the time. But like I said, I usually had to replace them once a year. Try to get the best vacuum you can afford right now. Look for 12 amps or higher. Hoover makes some good models. But seriously think about saving up for either a Dyson or Electrolux down the road. The investment will save you a lot of time and headaches and you will be glad you did.
- Q:I was wondering why my vacuum cleaner was leaving trails of crap all over the place... so I flipped it upside down when it was on, and it turns out it does vacuum (quite powerfully, at that) but all the crap gets shot out of another part of the bottom! What can I do to stop this... maybe it just needs a good cleaning? I don't know much about vacuum cleaners, but I know they shouldn't do THAT..... thanks in advance! :)
- YOu probably need to empty it out or change the bag. Clean the filters. The only time Ive ever had tht problem was when the vacuum needed to be cleaned out. Also make sure all the hoses are connected, sometimes they come loose and it will still suck up dirt but it will dump it back into the carpet.

- In my opinion, no. You don't have to spend that kind of money to get a good quality vacuum cleaner. I own a Hoover, have had it for 17 years, have never had any trouble with it, and it works like a charm. I've heard a lot of bad things about Dyson, including the lack of customer service. If you want a 'premium' vacuum cleaner, Oreck is very good quality and the company stands behind its exceptionally good warranty.

- Don't know, but I almost got a job with them once. They seem kind of shady. You have to start out by getting your friends and family to buy their stuff. Very expensive. Caveat emptor.
- Q:Ive got a dog biscuit stuck in it.. if i take those two little screws out will i be able to get it out? will it be easy too put back together? i hate taking things apart because sometimes they just don't want to go back together!
- How far up is the biscuit? Can you fit a utensil (fork, knife) in there and break up the biscuit instead? Then you just tap it out, or vacuum it in.

- First of all, unless your mother is very enthusiastic about her vacuuming, don't fix it for her birthday. Take her out to dinner, buy her a nice pair of slippers and her favorite perfume. Not a vacuum. All you can do is clean it out as much as you can. Look for larger objects that may have been sucked in and remove them. If it is clogged with a bunch of hair from someone or some pet, try and stop that hair from reaching the floor. Combing your pet on a regular basis and throwing away the hair not only helps your animal in the summer heat, but also keeps the hair off the floor. Good luck, and find a better gift for your mom than a working vacuum.
