- Q: A window washer drops a brush from a scaffold on a tall office building. What is the speed of the falling brush after 1.53 s? (Neglect drag forces.) The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s2. Answer in units of m/s. How far has it fallen in that time? Answer in units of m.
- 9.8 * 1.53 = 14.994 (speed/velocity) 1/2 * 9.8 * 1.53^2 = 1/2 * 9.8 * 2.3409 = 11.47041 (distance) If 11.47041 is not the answer, then what is? The proof is in the math. I have done it following the examples of two web sites, and the same answer pops up. Maybe they want you to round up.
- Q: Explain what Vygotsky meant by “zone of proximal development” and “scaffolding.”
- maintained the child follows the adult's example and gradually develops the ability to do certain tasks without help or assistance. He called the difference between what a child can do with help and what he or she can do without guidance the zone of proximal development (ZPD).
- Q: I work for myself, and usually do remodels, but work is slowing, so I did a bid on demo-ing a 35 ft chimney stack. I am the home owner is renting the scafolding for us, my question is, I am assuming it has to be tied to the frame of the house or something, anyone have knowledge on this, I am assuming screwing to the roof is not the way, I would assume taking away part of the siding is the correct way, and attaching it to a stud. How far up and how many places?
- Check the OSHA requirements, and then use common sense. Attach to the house every section with tiebacks. Make sure the first section is level with adjustable legs on a firm surface.
- Q: We have warehouses for lease and only one caretaker to handle the changing of bulbs cleaning and painting.i need a sturdy, lightweight, and hopefully space saving scaffolding which can go up to 7 meters high.I have checked out some scissor lifts but they cost too much.
- personally i think you would get more use out of a scissor lift...
- Q: As you may know, the Tudors were notorious for sending many people to the block. How would you feel if it was you? I mean just the thought of laying your head on the block and waiting for the blow. It's so scary! How would you feel? You'd have to drag me screaming and crying haha.
- Sometimes the first blow wouldn't be enough to take off the head. It might take 2 or 3 blows. After that first blow, with you still alive, the blood flowing to your head and out of the huge gash in your neck- you would still be able to look around and see the looks of horror of the crowds faces. And the excruciating pain as you prepare for the final cut that will take off your head. Truly horrific and barbaric. You will feel fear. Pure fear.
- Q: how much ?
- It depends where you go... But if you go to a decent body piercer, I'd say no less than ?20 and no more than ?40.
- Q: Looking for good used construction scaffolds to purchase
- (Books and Authors?) Most scaffolds are used until they are no longer good--something elemental to their safe operation has broken or failed. I very much doubt you can find one, unless you hear of a high-rise venture going out of business, such as a window-washing company.
- Q: A 100 kg scaffold is 7 m long. It is hanging with two wires, one from each end. A 600 kg box sits 1.8 m from the left end. What is the tension in the left hand side wire?(g = 9.8 m/s2)answer in newtons
- This question can be solved by first drawing a free-body diagram and then summing the moments (torques) around the right end of the scaffold. We'll designate the tension in the left hand wire with T. So after making our free-body diagram we find the sum of the moments around the right end of the scaffold (where each moment = force x distance from point we are taking it about), setting it to zero because the system experiences no angular motion 0 = 7m * -T + 600kg * 9.8m/s^2*(7m - 1.8m) + 100kg * 9.8m/s^2 * 3.5m (Notice that T is negative because it would produce a clockwise rotation about the right end of the scaffold, and the weights are positive because their rotation would be counter-clockwise) Now we just solve for T, which comes out to be T = 4858N
- Q: Front facia board needs a light scrape and seal and paint but there are 2 areas that peak at 18 ft high. laying on the roof and looking over is not an option as the roof is concrete tile and unable to find any matching tiles if they break. Need to be 13 - 14 ft in the up for a length of 16 ft or approx 4 hours total. any ideas to avoid rental costs, deposits etc...?
- When I painted for a living, I had two options. One way was to use two aluminum extension ladders with jacks mounted on both of them and a walk board strung between them. The other way is to use 2 tall wooden ladders facing each other and run a 1 X 12 between them to stand on. There is always the park a pipck up truck under the eave and put a ladder in the bed of the truck.
