Q: scaffold has a mass of 21.6 kg and is 2.5 m long, and is held on both ends by a vertical rope. what is tension?
The smartaleck answer: Google 'define:tension' The real answer: 21.6 kg*G (gravity constant)=something N (Newtons). By Newton's 3rd law, forces act in equal but opposite pairs, so the weight of the scaffold is offset by the two vertical ropes, so each rope takes half of the force, which means (something N)/2 is the force in each rope. If I'm not mistaken, I don't think the length matters, because you're not calculating torque here. Note: I said something so you would not just copy down the answer! :)
Q: i'm writing a poem through the eyes of a scaffolding used to hang witches in the salem witch trials... and i wanted to know if people died abruptly when hung this way? or did they suffocate? i've come to believe that a scaffold had a trap door or a floor that would fall out of place and thus the 'witch' would hang.. so did the fall break their necks? or did they slowly suffocate?
Some of all of the above. It would depend on how hard they jerked when their feet went out from under them. Also, it would depend on how their body jerked. It could break a neck, but I have heard of people hanging so long that they finally just gagged to death. One interesting fact that I read about hangings just the other day, was that during those times of hangings, sometimes the friends of the person being hanged would lie under the scaffold. When the person being hanged dropped down, the friends would YANK on the hanged persons feet to make the process quicker and supposedly less painless. I found that interesting. Hope I helped.
Q: how do i clean my scaffold piercing?
Sea salt soaks 2-3 times a day, for 15 mins. (1/8-1/4 tsp non iodized sea salt dissolved in 8 oz distilled or bottled water) You can also buy H2Ocean which is the sea salt solution but in a spray can. It can be found at Hot Topic. Don't clean a piercing with anything like Peroxide, Rubbing Alcohol, Bactine, or Neosporin. Peroxide and Rubbing alcohol are harbors for bacteria and will dry out the piercing. Neosporin is for cuts and scrapes, not puncture wounds.
Q: What are the specific safety rules for mobile scaffolding
(3) the use of mobile scaffolding venues, the four corners must be smooth, more than three floors to fasten the seat belt.(4) the material, tools and sundries on the scaffold shall be removed before dismantling the scaffold.
Q: When I got my piercing done there was quite alot of blood, it was caked into my hair and all over my ear, I went home and cleaned it up with cotton buds and then went out. When I woke up this morning there was so much blood all in my hair and on my ear so i'm pretty worried. Is this normal? Some of it even looked like little bloodclots.
I wouldn't worry too much. I have a friend whose did this as well. Turns out that she just happened to be someone who bled a lot with that kind of piercing. Mine didn't do that, everyone's is kinda different. If you're really worried, there's no harm in seeing a doctor just to make sure, but they may just reassure you that you just happen to be someone whose ears get a lot of circulation. Eventually, my friend just took hers out because, as you probably know, it takes around a year for it to heal well enough, and hers would continue to bleed when it tugged as she slept or hit it or anything so I'm not sure if it ever would have eased up.
Q: Does anyone know the qualifications to become a scaffolding engineer?
Calculations, specifications, plans, sections, and details for scaffolds and shoring must be prepared and certified by a licensed civil or structural engineer.
Q: A scaffold of mass 51 kg and length 6.0 m is supported in a horizontal position by a vertical cable at each end. A window washer of mass 87 kg stands at a point 1.8 m from one end.(a) What is the tension in the cable closer to the painter? (b) What is the tension in the cable further from the painter?
m? = mass of the scaffold = 51 kg m? = mass of the painter = 87 kg L = length of the scaffold = 6 m d = distance between the painter and end of the scaffold = 1.8 m g = acceleration by gravity = 9.8 m/s? Using the end of the scaffold that is the furthest away from the painter as pivot point, you can find the tension in the cable that is closest to the painter. m?×g×L/2 + m?×g×(L - d) = Tclose×L Tclose = 846.72 N < - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - answer a Using the end of the scaffold that is closest to the painter as pivot point, you can find the tension in the cable that is the furthest away from the painter. m?×g×L/2 + m?×g×d = Tfar×L Tfar = 505.68 N < - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - answer b Check: Tclose + Tfar = (m? + m?)×g (846.72 N) + (505.68) = ((51 kg) + (87 kg))×(9.8 m/s?) . . . . ? 1352.4 N = 1352.4 N . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .! Seems OK
Q: so i've got my earlobes double piercing in each ear, my cartilage piercing in my right ear and my belly button piercing. Does a scaffold piercing hurt? I don't really know about my pain tolerance, but my belly button piercing just felt like a tiny pinch. And I want the bar to go through where i have my cartilage already pierced, would i have to get it re-pierced in a different position than where it's already pierced?
It would hurt the same as the cartilage piercing because it's in the same place. You may have to get it re-done if the hole isn't at the right angle.
Q: the methods early scientists used to measure sizes and distances within the solar system, explain the technique Eratosthenes used to measure the circumference of the Earth more than 2,000 years ago. how do all these discoveries demonstrate the scaffolding of knowledge? and there are other parts i have already im just stuck on this!!
Each generation build it's knowledge or the previous one. In simple words your father teaches you. You make it better Then you teach the better method to your son We learned to take cover in caves, then we learned to build huts and then we learned to build houses and then build skyscrapers. Hope this is what you wanted.
Q: What's the difference between a scaffold protein and an adaptor protein?
These two terms both refer to proteins which associate with other proteins (like receptors or other phosphorylated proteins) and then allow the association of still other proteins onto them. My understanding is that there is not a significant difference between the two terms.
