Q: Hi, I'm looking for an external hard drive with 500GB of storage that doesn't require a power cable as I need it to be 100% portable. Any suggestions?
I don't think there is such an animal. wdw
Q: I need power cables for my sony laptop
go okorder
Q: The inside of my computer has a modular power supply that did not come with enough cables, and I have a graphics card that requires two 6 pin connections to the power supply. Luckily, my power supply has just enough open slots. The problem is that I can't find a place to buy a simple 6 pin cable. It needs to be about a foot long to reach. Can someone please help me? I would prefer newegg if possible, but I searched there and I'm getting pretty frustrated.
Assuming that the power supply can power the card you need a molex to 6pin adapter. They sell them on newegg. You wont be able to buy a 6pin cable unless your power supply is modual meaning you can disconnect the wires from the PSU. Most power supply's you cant do this and the ones that do cost extra.
Q: The power cable is selected according to the cable current ()
With steel wire, lead the bend round, but do not let the wire can hold the pipe wall, and sometimes also need two twisted wire, wire over the past OK
Q: where do you run the power and signal cables for a sound system in a peugeot 307
well for convenience, id run the power cables on the side of the car that the battery is on and the rca's on the other side.
Q: So I was trying to run wiring for a 220 outlet and I hit a lower leg with the metal cable snake, now a bunch of outlets loose power for a minute or two ever so often, 20 min give or take. What can be the cause? Only the top breaker tripped. How can this be repaired. Please help.
Would I be right in thinking you sort of tripped on flexible metal conduit in which electric cables run and now the power is intermittent and trips the breaker? I would start by isolating the circuit so it is no longer live and checking the connections at each end of the cable run because any strain on the conduit could have tugged wires out of their terminals. I'd make sure that all the connections were tight and the wires properly anchored and also that each wire is in the correct terminal. I once made a mistake when replacing a socket outlet because the terminals in the new one were the exact opposite of the old one. Luckily, I found it straight away when I tested the circuit. If the connections all look good, I'd check the continuity along each of the cables. It is inconceivable that the cables inside the metal conduit were damaged as they should be continuous cable runs with no joins. The continuity test will tell you if any cable is no longer continuous, but I'd be very surprised as long as the original installation was done properly to code (or wiring regulations in the UK). Obviously, before you start checking the cables, you would unplug or disconnect everything that is connected to them. If the fault only happens when some sort of machine or appliance is connected, then it suggests the fault is with the appliance or machine and not the wiring. A 20 minute cycle of faults makes we wonder whether there is a fridge or a freezer connected the circuit. If so, I'd get it checked for faults and check that the power connection to it is correctly wired. I am not an electrician, just an experienced home owner, so please double check anything I've said. Good luck.
Q: Have a 480 volts 3 phase 16 amp motor. Need 400 ft of extention cord. Is is OK to use a SOOW 10/4 cable, the voltage drop is 2.67%(12 volts). Machine is powerd by a generator that I can run at 500 volts to counter the voltage drop.8/4 cable cost twice as much, but the voltage drop is 1.7%(8 volts).
The only thing about SOOW is that the insulation is only rated for 600 volts, and the peak voltage of a 480 volt RMS system is 678 Volts. The peak-to-peak voltage is 1386 volts, and two adjacent phases will see a maximum potential difference of almost 800 volts This will be unsafe -- the insulation might breakdown (even though that 600 V is a conservative rating). Two adjacent phase cables will provide for 1200 volts rated total insulation and that is more than the phase-to-phase max of almost 800 volts, so you could take a chance, but I wouldn't recommend it. As for the wire size -- 10 gauge wire is definitely large enough to handle 16 amps. 12-gauge wire would even be sufficient, especially since you can compensate for the voltage loss. But, stick with the 10 gauge anyway, for a larger margin. You need cable that is rated for higher voltage. .
Q: Question says it all.
Yes that is good the bigger your power cable the better. If it is bigger it will cause less resistance and energy will flow much more freely and this will mean your music will sound much clearer i personally run 1 guage to all my amps.
Q: Ok so I was doing something stupid just now. Cuttiing a power cable that connects to the tv. Halfway through to cutting it, the wire explodes and hit my face o,o. So quickly, I turn all of the switches off and run to wash my face. I just wanted to know whether it's ok to turn all the switched back on cus I'm literally in the dark right now. And will there be any damage to my face since the wire explodes in my face?
You probably should not have been left home alone, unsupervised. It is NOT OK to turn the power on, unless you have taken the TV plug out of the power socket on the wall. This does NOT mean cutting through the cord, it means unplugging it like a normal person would do. You might have a couple of small burns on your face. If you were more injured, I am sure you would realize it.
Q: I'm going to be running 1/0 gauge power wire in my car. My amp only accepts 4 gauge. Is it better to run 1 the whole way through and use power cable adaptors to fit the amp or run the 1 gauge into a distribution block that sizes the output wire down to a 4?
1 gauge to the d-block, 4 to the amps/caps.
