- Q: LOL He barks, jumps, whines and bites at the vacuum while I am using it(and with a black GSD I do have to use it alot!!). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get him used to this? When he was a puppy it did not bother him at all but as he got older, the minute it comes out of the closet he starts whining and barking at it. I have tried telling him NO as I vacuum and he will stop for a 1/2 a minute and watch it but it seems that as I am moving it back and forth across the rug he just can't help himself and he's on it again. I have tried distracting him with toys and cookies to no avail. Short of putting him outside (or in a closet JK) I don't know what to do. Anyone else who had this problem (or not) and may have some help?
- Banshee, I have 2 GSDs, and, both of them, (one is a Female, other a Male) both act silly when I have my vacuum going also. One will bark at it, and, jump around also. The other wants to hang around and watch it thus not moving out of the way......he even will paw at it, and, defy it. My (F) Rottweiler just moves, and, stays clear, so, I guess GSDs in our case see a Vacuum as some form of invader or something. I just deal with it. My female is almost 9 y/o now, and my male is almost 6 y/o. I don't even try to change their behavior. I guess I'm glad they don't go running away and whining. I'd rather see them rather macho unlike my cats whom head to cover when they see me plug it in.

- Q: If you have an Oreck vacuum, could you give me some feedback please? My biggest cleaning problem right now is cats. We've gotten rid of all our carpets - vinyl or laminate floors only, which has eliminated all the pet odors. But it is still hard to get rid of all the pet hair (etc) that builds up on all their favorite bedding or couches.I've got my eye on the 1400 Series canister vacuum ($899! What am I thinking??!?!) But if it does what it claims, I think this would be worth it.I appreciate any feedback based on your experience with Oreck products. Thanks!
- I am of the opinion that you can't go wrong purchasing an Oreck product. It is quality--and they have the ability to back up their quality with great service from one of their 450 Clean Home Center stores. To all the Oreck bashers out there--get a life. You are so misinformed. As far as the Consumer Reports ratings, they are a non-objective rating company. They don't accept any sort of advertising money, but will give your product a great review if your company donates to their foundation. That sounds like extortion to me. Don't believe anything you read there--just that the #1 rated product is probably not the best one!!! Buy an Oreck and you will be happy forever!!!!
- Q: I'm looking for a vacuum that is less than $200, Upright, bagless, HEPA, can clean pet hair, and reliable/durable. If you know any other vaccuum brand that fits into ALL of my requirements above, feel free to tell me. I did some research and narrowed my list down to two. So my questions are:1. - Q: I am planning to get a now dog. Preferably a small breed, and it will be indoors allot. My house is really big. MY question is , will it be a problem if my house is almost always messy? there is allot of trash lyeing around all over the place, bits of paper,cloths hangers, cloths, other trash, toys. Will this is a big deal. I assume it would, but exactly how clean should I be for the new dog ? What kind of stuff is a absolute must to avoid having lying around in the dog's reach ?
- ok. That's not so good. You have to clean up everything small, just like with a toddler or baby. They could choke. Also, you must MUST hang up all cords, wires or strings up behind something or up high on a wall. They could bite through them and get electrocuted. NOT GOOD. Also, put up any candy bars, fruit or other people food. It is very bad for dogs to eat. hope this helps! :)
- Q: It also needs to have a good hose on it for vacuuming our sofas and be able to handle pet hair as we have a cat. Bagless is preferred
- I have one dog and my boyfriend has 3, two are border collies so hair is everywhere, I had a cheap 150.00 Kenmore and it just didn't do the job, I used a 20% off coupon to Bed Bath and Beyond and bought a Shark Rotator true PET, was almost 300 but boy does it clean well
- Q: is there a name for fear of vaccum cleaners? because I KNOW i have it! ever since i was an infant i would screem frickin bloody murder in my crib when my mom would run teh vacuum cleaner. when i was jsut a small child i would run from it, afraid it would suck up my toes. and now, today, at 14, i cannot STAND the loud noise they make and i do NOT put my toes in front of one. it takes me a few moments before i can even bring myself to turn it on. the bigger, louder they are, the worse my reactions. sometimes at work (i volunteer at a veterinary hospital) i have to ask one of my co-workers to do it because i will purposly busy myself just to get away from it.please, do not laugh at me. it's embarrassing enough and i just want to know the name of it.thankxx! :]

- Q: I am in China and don't have any carpet in my apartment (thank goodness!). I was thinking of getting a vacumn cleaner as it is aways so dusty but will this do more harm than good to my health in my apartment. Is it better just to sweep regularly and mop up the dust?Thanks !
- Vacuum cleaners are intended for use on carpets but will work on wooden floors too. The advantage of vacuum cleaners is that the dust is sucked up into the machine's dust container and not distributed back into the air which happens when you sweep with a broom. I think vacuum cleaners are better for health when it comes to preventing dust in the air that you can breathe in.
- Q: I have 2 vacuum cleaners, both need new electrical cords! How do I replace them?
- I ran over my cord one time and had to take my vacuum cleaner to a repair shop to have a new cord put on. It was cheap. Maybe it was about 12 or 15 dollars.
