- Q: i was working at the time-went in to tell HR person that i was going to dr. as i couldn't move arm. she wrote it down as home injury because it was already hurting from working day before. Same injury happened year before and was a paid work comp. case.
- You are posting in the wrong section. This is for Home Garden, but I think there should be something you can do. I'd contact a local law office and ask advice.
- Q: I tried to grow an organic garden last year but had no luck, all that happened was bugs eating my food.

- Q: Suggest me some plants for my kitchen garden (vegetables) which are easy to grow and maintain at home?
- herbs can be easy along with tomatoes, lettuce, radishes, beans, turnups, carrots. way too many to list like. All very easy to grow what do you like? unit
- Q: I recently bought the quot;second printingquot; of Better Homes and Gardens' quot;Easy Garden Guide: No-Fail Flowers.quot; It has a number of garden plants, mainly flowers, of course, but nowhere in the guide can I find the flower pictured on the cover. It's a lovely purple flower with an odd look about it. The stamen are extremely pronounced, green, and they seem to be curling back on themselves. The petals, aside from being, well, purple, look a lot like leaves. The leaves themselves are actually more like a bunch of stems than actual leaves. The whole plant seems to be very pointy, all over the place, aside from the stamen. It's a gorgeous, weird little flower, and I'd like to know if I can grow it here in Louisiana. The first few pages on the inside don't have anything mentioning the cover flower from what I can see. Has anyone seen this little magazine? What type of flower is this?
- My suggestion is to take the cover down to the local ag center and they can tell you....
- Q: so i went and bought a bunch of veggie seeds. i understand that i need to let them root before i put them in ground. i live in texas, and we have heat well into the fall. is it too late for me to start, or do i need to wait until next year??? any gardening advice will be super appreciated!!!!! this is my first time trying to garden, and i want to do it right! please, any and all advice will be taken :)
- I live in Texas also. Starting seeds now is not a good idea. We don't have enough cool days ahead to give the seedlings time to grow and get strong before the hot summer hits. And when the heat starts getting way up there, small seedlings will die. I planted my seeds back in January inside under plant lights and planted some in the ground in mid March and others a few weeks ago and they were large seedlings, about 4 to 6 tall. I won't plant any more till the fall veggies go in. Best to buy some plants at the store now and save the seeds for next year.
- Q: I have always loved garden and helpped my mother in hers all the time as a child. I have an screened porch and don't use it anyway so i wanted to start a garden.Where to start? What to buy to begin?
- Study how many hour of sunlight you are getting in your porch in winter summer and spring even if it is an approximation. Select the kind of plants you want to grow - annual flowers, herbs, orchids, small shrub, tropical plants etc. Put all this information again in this place. I and others can give you a sane answers instead of speculations next time.
- Q: whats the value of a 1945 home and garden magazine?
- Not much...entertainment/curiosity value only. I've got old Ladies Home Journals circa 1895 I got for a buck about 20 years ago. . Fun reading but really not worth much, about 5 bucks ea, maybe. I like them for their 'advertizements.
- Q: Hello. I'm interested in starting my own garden at home. I'm planning to plant strawberries, tomatoes, blueberries, watermelon, and grapes. I've chosen a plot of land, but I don't know exactly how to start a garden. The plot of land is riddled with weeds, soil seems to be poor, a bit sandy. What can I do to make it suitable for gardening? I'm an absolute beginner.
- Take the grapes off your list, for starters. If you're a newbie, start small, with a few plants, and expand your garden as you gain experience. A common mistake for first-timers is that they put in too big a garden, with too much, and then are overwhelmed, and give up in frustration. Strawberries I recommend growing in containers where you see them every day, and can keep an eye on them. A small vegetable garden with a couple tomatoes or peppers, or 1 or 2 other things is a good start. Pick your spot - a 3 foot by 10 or 12 foot is plenty big for your first year - in a sunny place, that isn't too far from water or a hose. Till or just turn the soil with a shovel, and work in a lot of compost a couple weeks before your last frost date, and you'll be ready to plant. Grapes are a whole learning curve in themselves, and I recommend them NOT being the first thing your plant. Blueberries, if your soil ph is below 6.5, are do-able, as they're fairly simple to plant. If your soil ph is close to 7.0, though, they will never be very happy. Tomatoes will want about 9 square feet of space per plant (I often see them planted about a foot apart - easy to do when they're so small when you plant). Watermelon will sprawl - the vines traveling 10 to 20 feet...but if you have the space, you can kind of direct where the vine goes as it grows.
- Q: Date and times of home and garden expo for lafayette,la.
- Are you sure it's Lafayette, Louisiana? I found two home and garden shows but in New Orleans and Kenner. I will leave you their telephone numbers for you to call and find out about Lafayette. Also it's another case of mistaken category; you're in Los Angeles
- Q: what are the top 10 stores for shopping for home and garden in the US?
- Lowes, Home Depot and garden centers that you see along some of the main roads in your area. We have one called Arbor. Wal Mart has a lot of things.
