- Q: Last night I went to get the wheaterization plastic for windows but grab a plastic drop cloth on accident will this still work ?
- That isn't going to work the same. The only way to attach it to your windows is with a staple gun or nails. This sort of plastic isn't intended for indoor use outdoors...it will get ripped right off the house from the wind. Get the receipt take it back. I just covered 7 of my windows yesterday....here's a tip... When you get the indoor stuff and put up the tapes...let them sit on the window for a couple hours. Don't take all the tape off at once when you put up the plastic! That makes everything a PITA! Take the top piece off going across the 2 tapes runing down...peel those back just about 1 foot. Hang the plastic piece make sure as it hangs down, it covers both tapes reaches the bottom horizontal piece too. If it's off center, having just a bit of the sticky tape exposed makes moving the plastic so much easier. After you've peeled the tapes back the plastic is stuck to the tape...take a small soft hand towel run it along the tapes to make sure the plastic is fully stuck to the tapes the tapes are fully stuck to the window frames. Carful when heating the plastic! I use my heat gun, but if you've never doine this before...stick to a hair dryer. It's best to look at what your heating from an angle, because you can better see all the wrinkles getting smoothed out. Start with a small, easy window. If you screw it up, it's easier to fix. I melt one every year, but I've gotten really good at patching them!

- Q: Every fall we put plastic on the outside of our windows to provide added insulation during the winter. The plastice we use is said to be clear but isnt. It always ends up that we cant see out the windows all winter. It really sucks. Does anyone know of an insulating plastic that is trully clear and will allow us to actually see out the windows?
- Use pure clear garbage bags and double sided tape on the inside of the windows, only cut out the center part of the bag or sheet, and tape the loose part down what it will look like is a picture frame, leaving you your window to look out but smaller. The part that leaks around a window is the frame and where the glass meets the frame,
- Q: some jerk took a razor to my passanger window to steal nothing out of my jeep... and now i have a large rip in the window. how would i go about fixing this. and obviously tape will work but i'm hoping there is a better solution. now if i buy replacement windows will the colors match my older somewhat weathered top (black)... i wouldn't mind buying new windows but i dont want my jeep to look weird. thanks
- you get windows tinted by the amount of light they allow to pass through. they range from 5%-70% (5% being nearly pitch black). if you can find the tint number on the other windows you may be able to match it if you went to a dealership.

- Q: I don't mind if its designed for another brand but I am getting very frustrated because I can't find it on GE's site or any other. I bought the unit without it in hopes I could find one online but can't find the specific one. HELP! The piece is the one that sits in the window to hold the hose in the window. The unit is a Portable AC which means it sits on the floor not in the window so its got specially designed plastic plate piece that is adjustable for your window size.
- Measure the window opening and go to a glass place with the hose and have them make you a lexan piece to fit the window with a hole in it. Lexan is very sturdy. You can run a rod straight thru the outside part of hose to keep it in place or tape it. It isn't like some technically expensive part to make. Actually it will probably be better than original. BTW, keep the hose as short as you can as it gets warm and heats the room as the compressor cools it. I had one and the closest I could get was 5 feet and it didn't help at all.
- Q: I have a 1999 Sebring Convertible and I am desperately in need of a new top. Is it possible to get a plastic window with the top or no because I already have a convertible top with a glass window? Thanks!
- No due to plastic and glass in combination will over heat and melt. You can ask the car dealership or use paper wrapping over windows such as a moon or sun roof rather than plastic to glass.
- Q: Ok i have a couple bonsai trees and some other assorted potted plants and i wanted to know if i put plastic sheets on the windows to keep the cold from affecting the plants if that would affect how much light the plants will get. And if it does affect it, by how much? Thx for any help i can get
- No as long as you see the light going through this only affects pets the need to bask in the sun and get UVA/B rays from the sun for Vitamin D because plastic and glass filters out the rays not the light.

- If heat has burned the plastic, no cleaner will help it. If not, try Plexus. It is what motorcycle riders used to clean their visors and windshields. Lots of car detailers use it to clean plastic windows on convertibles and Jeeps. Find it at any motorcycle dealer. Use with a clean microfiber cloth.
- Q: ok i have a corvette 1986 convertible. The car isn't perfect but i love it. the main problem for me is the rear plastic window. It is brown and is not visible at all to the inside for the outside. I need to know if there is any product out there that can go beyond the cleaning of oxidation. i want the window clear again. And yes it has been left outside for about 5 years to face the elements but i was not the first owner so i presume that it has been outside longer. so the question comes down to how do make the window go from brown to clear without buying a new top.
- Go to an MG Spares store and ask for GREYGATE!! Its the Rear monitor Polish that all the MGF forum web sites Swear by means of !! I've acquired an MG Midget MGF and and had been told SO oftentimes by way of these guys that that is THE !!! Stuff to make use of. Additionally been advised that BMW spares stores do a very good screenpolish too.
