Q:I would like to completely remove it off of the car without removing the whole top? (The zipper broke)
You may not want to permanently remove the window on your own. If you have the $$$ bring it to a shop. They will sew on a new window and then remove your old one. If you remove it first you will make it very difficult to get the new one on straight. Enjoy!
Q:So we just moved into an old home that is notorious for being difficult to keep warm in the winter. The previous tenants had plastic on the windows to keep the cold out. Well, its July here and keeping the cold out is no longer a concern. The plastic looks terrible and if its not serving a purpose, I'd like to take it down for the summer and fall season. So, is the plastic keeping the heat out right now? Does it serve a purpose?
last year i left the plastic up on my windows in the summer. This year i took it down and now my electric bill is one hundred dollars more then last year. maybe it's best to leave it up.
Q:There is a tear in my drivers side window at the bottom where the plastic is covered by the fabric, but the fabric is coming lose and the tear is starting to show and open itself to elements. Also, this window zipper only closes and opens one way, going the other way the teeth will not connect, any ideas? Also, there is a larger 4-5 inch tear in my rear plastic window right under where the zipper releases the plastic from the fabric. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
There are some kits available for making repairs for clear plastic, you probably will not find them at an auto supply, but, at a place where supplies are sold for any inflatable items, air mattress, floats, etc. These clear repair kits come with an adheres and once in place it is there to stay. On the large tare on your back rear windshield, you may want to place a repair sheet on both sides. Also you may consider sewing it with clear fishing line. As far as you zipper is concern, you can replace the zipper pull, this may or may not solve your problem. Hope that some of the above is of some help!
Q:Is plastic on my windows just as good a drapes for the winter?
why not both ! 3M product is really good ,very clear
Q:The back window on my convertible got a hole put in it last winter, since then I've just been using tape to keep it together. I have a new plastic window complete with trim that will make a suitable replacement, I just need to know what kind of adhesive and how to apply it so that it stays put when the top is up and folds accordingly when the top goes down. I'd like to remove the old back window as well.
Any auto parts store should have a strong silicone to hold it in
Q:Ok, I just moved in to my own apartment this past Spring, and it's an older duplex (with a lot of friggin windows-31 to be specific). So trying to keep the heat in this winter is a huge issue. I've heard of covering the windows with plastic to help, but I'm also looking at thermal shades (window quilts, etc.). My question would be which of these would keep more heat in? Or should I do both? (I would make my own if doing the quilts...so if anybody has any links to a really easy way to make them that would be very much appreciated as well! ) Money is tight, so I'm trying to avoid the problem to begin with..
I've had the same problem before. This is what I would do....I would do the plastic (There is some that you can use a hair dryer on to tighten up so it looks better and doesn't blow around). Once that is done I would do the quilts/blankets to be a bit more insulating. You could just tack them up inside the window frame or if you have curtain rods is even better. If it is an older place it could look really cute with quilts. Good Luck. sorry I don't have any links right now but I will keep my eyes peeled for you.
Q:for wranglar soft top windows
Plastic expands and contracts too much to have tint put on. It will wrinkle up. That goes for hard plastics (plexiglas type) also.
Q:how do you change the plastic rear window in a miata?
You can find directions on this at OKorder
Q:I have a 1999 Sebring Convertible and I am desperately in need of a new top. Is it possible to get a plastic window with the top or no because I already have a convertible top with a glass window? Thanks!
No due to plastic and glass in combination will over heat and melt. You can ask the car dealership or use paper wrapping over windows such as a moon or sun roof rather than plastic to glass.
Q:Do they get melted down with the paper particles or is there someone that removes the plastic parts? Just curious.
These bits of plastic get caught in the screens that filter the water out after the paper is pulped, since they are no good for making new paper. These filters take out all kinds of contamination that would be bad for the new paper. The sludge left on the screens is usually discarded in the landfill, but in some areas it's composted.
