- Q: out of envelopes before you put it in your paper recycles or do you leave it in? This bugs me EVERY week, lol. Who does this and who doesn't . Anyone know how they deal with the plastic. ?
- It IS possible to remove those windows during the recycling process but the process is not foolproof. Staples and other metal are easier to remove from the recycling stream. Remove the windows, if you can, but don't worry about it. Most of the paper will become newsprint, cardboard, or insulation and a bit of contamination is unimportant.
- Q: I own a 323i bmw convertible. I just replaced the top but the back plastic window is already starting to cloud. I was recommended a wax called ziond or something along those lines. It worked the first time but is now turning the window yellow. I dont wish to replace the window so i was wondering if anyone knew an easier option? such as some home remedy to grease it off. idk ive tried everything!thanks!
- it's not too hard. It's the same thing that happens to headlights, condensation gets in and discolors the plastic. Go to your local Advance or NAPA or even sears, just pick up a thing of headlight restorer. All you have to do is rub it on and rub it off five minutes later. It's pretty cheap too, like 12 bucks max. hope this helped
- Q: I try to get paint of my caravan windows but it didnt work with stripper. any other suggestions.

- Q: I'm about to move into an apartment room that I have been warned gets very cold in the winter (I live in MN). However, the person telling me this also mentioned that the windows had not been plastic wrapped the previous winter. In her opinion, however, plastic wrapping the windows would do no good because according to her quot;you can actually feel the cold coming up through the floor.quot; I think it's possible though that what she felt coming in through the floor was actually the drafts from the window sinking to the ground and spreading. Would plastic wrapping my windows eliminate this problem? Or would the room still be cold/I should request a different one? Thanks
- Plastic around windows, if done correctly will help keep most of the cold air from entering windows..one draw back is not being able to see clearly through plastic..
- Q: Every fall we put plastic on the outside of our windows to provide added insulation during the winter. The plastice we use is said to be clear but isnt. It always ends up that we cant see out the windows all winter. It really sucks. Does anyone know of an insulating plastic that is trully clear and will allow us to actually see out the windows?
- You can use indoor plastic kits. They contain sheets of plastic film, which looks like cling-film, but is slightly thicker. The kit also comes with double-sided tape, and you use this to tape the wooden framing (around the window pane). You then cut out the plastic to fit the size of your window frame and fix it to the tape. Finally, you blow a hair dryer on the plastic, which shrinks it so that it is very tight.
- Q: I don't know what they mean by 'apply tape to bottom of protruding sill.' I have a sill, do they mean on the surface of it, or below the sill on the wall, or should i just put the tape around the window and apply the plastic, just not sure how to handle the sill...thanks...
- it normally goes on the top, bottom and sides of the entire window. You can, however, put it on the molding also. As long as you get a nice tight seat to prevent cold air from leaking into house, you're good.
- Q: will any type of plastic work for insulating windows?
- Yes, but some are better than others. Anything that is strong enough that it won't tear will stop air from coming in. The plastic has no insulating value, or almost none. The value is that it traps air and thus resists heat flow. I prefer a crystal clear plastic because it looks better.
- Q: I have tried the heating up shrink wrap and the double sided sticky tape won't hold on my wall. So I bought a thick layer of plastic and tried to hold it up with tacks and just duct tape around it. The duct tape also comes peeling of my walls. Is there some kind of tape/glue that can hold this plastic up and not peel off my walls?
- I would try using a tube of white, tan, brown painters latex caulking in a small 11 oz. tube and caulking gun. All purchased for under $10. The latex caulk will adhere to just about any surface and can be removed at a later date by lightly scraping off with putty knife or just painting over it. You may need to use your tacks, or tape to hold it in place for 10 minutes until the caulk starts to dry. Just a thin bead all the way around the window.
- Q: So I drunkenly put my elbow through my friend's passenger window in his jeep wrangler..he's pissed and is demanding $200 for its replacement or he's pressing charges. Yeah, nice friend. 200 dollars sounds like an astronomical amount for a piece of plastic that zips onto your car. Am I getting ripped off?
- You're not getting ripped off... those things are surprisingly expensive.
- Q: I have a plastic windshield that I want to tint, but have run into some problems. I tried getting a tint shop to place a film over it, but the surface was too curved. Is there another method that I can try? Is there any kind of spray or dye? Also, I would like mirror tint. Is that possible? The plastic can flex a little, so it has to be able to withstand that.I don't have to worry about whether or not the tint complies with the law. So, there are no restrictions.
- If it's plastic, you can spray tinted clearcoat over it. Some films should work. It's what people do when tinting tail lights.
