- Q:I have a ceiling fixture outlet which has 4 wires coming out (red, black, white and uninsulated ground). There is only one light switch that controls it. - Are you saying your COMPUTER has both Wired and Wireless ability? If your computer is wired, it won't use the wireless adapter it will use the most trusted connection which is wired. If you want to connect wirelessly, you have to unplug the wired connection or disable it. Otherwise they can both be active but the wireless will only kick in if the wired connection fails. If you are asking something else, please claify. Like you have both a wired ISP and a Wireless ISP etc.

- Q:What do you use to seal up the hole in the OUTSIDE wall where the cable TV and telephone wires and electrical wires all go thru? I want to replace my telephone wire coming in to the house, because I have DSL and it is really slow. I figured it couldn't hurt to replace the 45 year old wire coming in! :D I'm gonna use the best wire I can find (ANY SUGGESTIONS on what kinda wire to get? :D) to go from the telephone box outside to the DSL jack, but I need to no what to use to seal up the outside hole, when I rip out whatever is plugging it up now! :DThanks! ~Cindy! :D
- to add to what everyone said... sillicone caulking is what you need to use, it would be in the painting section (and plumbing section will have some too) of home depot if you plan on painting over this area you are going to have to substitute the silicone caulk with a paintable caulk, paint will not take to the silicone... CAT5 wire can be used, but as it is still on the voice circuit between the NID outside and your DSL jack you wont see much of a diffrence if you use CAT3 cable... CAT3 is voice grade cable, CAT5 is network grade cable... CAT3 is alittle easier to work with, as it is more flexable, and cheaper... but not by much... when you strip the outter jacket of the cable, leave at least 4-6 inches wraped inside the NID and the jack, so that if needed repairs can be made in the future.. blue/white to green solid blue to red and for line 2 (optional) orange/white to yellow solid orange to black if you are buying the wire per foot, then home depot will be fine, but if you are going to buy a box, check electrical and alarm supply stores, as there prices are much better then home depot...
- Q:I'm trying to wire a Sony L410X stereo to my 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500. I don't want to use a wiring harness, so I'm trying to figure out how to splice the wires together. I don't know how to hook the power wires up correctly. Obviously hooking the speakers up will be easy. I've tried looking at the wiring diagram but it seems like on the stereo system diagram it's positive and negative whereas the truck wiring is not identifying the negative wiring, just 12v+ Constant and 12v+ Switching. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
- a wiring harness at you local wal mart is like 20 bucks and a lot easier and also using one of them will make sure you have everything hooked upped correct also all audio car dealers use them so there is nothing wrong
- Q:The wire I need only comes bare and I would like to try enameling it myself with polyester-imide or polyester-nylon, so that it comes out like magnet wire. What all would I need?
- You can't use bare copper for coil windings. It would be like having a shorted coil. The varnish or enamel gives a coating thick enough to insulate from shorting and thin enough to allow for efficient induction. I don't see how you can make a winding without it touching itself at some point. Most coils overlap.

- Q:Green (ground), got it.Black (positive), got it.White (common), got it.Gray wire with like a black fiber in it, what is this? This is a pendant light so my guess is its just a filler wire to bulk up the cord it hangs from, am I right?
- The gray wire is used as a physical support for the light fixture. You tie each end to the light fixture and to the box where the power wires are connected. This is so that you don't use the power wires as a physical support (hanger) to hold the light in place. Think of a swag lamp from years ago. The lamp hung from a chain connected between the lamp and the ceiling. The power cord never supported the weight of the lamp fixture. The black fiber in the gray wire is a strong cord.
