Q:Do you think that it will be dangerous to my children if I put tile throughout my whole home... Falls etc. Thanks for the advice for those who have experience with this! :)
I had tile in a mudroom and foyer and kitchen in couple homes last of which I had my babies grow in. They never once fell on it and they lived from ages newborn and up to 6 yrs. There is also a No Run in house policy for us too. They learned to be careful naturally I guess. I do whatever I want and children adapt just fine. The only problem was if ever glass fell and shattered which luckily never happened. I am again trying to decide on a current house on what to do in Kitchen - and leaning toward tile again. Some tiles aren't slipperly at all because they are almost gritty with a non slip surface.
Q:→ tile background wall is good tiles background wall renderings
The integrated wall consists of four layers of material: 1. Aluminum foil, because the product can be installed directly on the wall of the rough housing, in order to strengthen the corrosion resistance of the product designed to greatly enhance the service life of the product. 2. Polyurethane, the use of polyurethane in the wall panel, is to enhance the product on the actual home improvement process of applicability, which enhance the wall to noise, heat insulation, moisture and other phenomena; Similarly, the polyurethane products to fill, strengthen the product Can impact. 3. Aluminum, the basic definition of the actual shape of the product. 4. Film, define the color of the product and the actual installation effect. The product can be defined as: rapid installation of materials, environmentally friendly materials, fashion decorative materials. Integrated wall is a new type of decorative wall materials, the market is highly ductile, compared to the market can replace part of the wall processing materials: paint, wallpaper, tiles; in the artificial can be canceled: paint workers, mud workers, etc. Need to carpentry operation, the process can generally be equipped with 2-3 people can, home improvement is generally completed in a week. Greatly reduce labor costs.
Q:is there another way to cut tiles ?i dont have a tile cutter , thanks
Your best bet then is to do the measurements yourself and go to a store (even homedepo or Lowes) and have them cut it. They will most likely cut it with some type of wet saw, keeps the edges from chipping.
Q:I want to replace the existing ugly linoleum/vinyl floor in my bathroom with tile. With the right information and tools, I don‘t see why I can‘t do it myself. Any ideas on the pros and cons of different types of tile? What‘s least likely to get scratched, and what is least likely crack and need to be replaced? Which is easiest to clean, etc.? I‘m not crazy about a rough feel or look to the tile. So, I‘m thinking of glazed ceramic or polished stone. Also, my bathroom is very small. I wouldn‘t need to use more than 35-40 square feet of tile. Do you think 12x12 size tiles would look too big? Any tips or suggestions will be appreciated!
Ceramic tiles that have a somewhat porous texture and somewhat marbled appearance. Porcelain and marble, as well a smooth-glazed ceramic, is too slippery. Stone is too porous and subject to trapping dirt (plus I once had a slate bathroom floor that constantly smelled like wet rocks when it got wet or damp). You can also get ceramic tile that looks like stone for less money. Solid colors - particularly white - are a major faux pas with a tile floor. Every piece of dirt, debris, hair, etc., is highly visible. Some kind of slight marbling or travertine looking pattern hides these well. 12 x 12 is an excellent size for a bathroom floor tile. If you have a wood subfloor, make sure you install a layer of 1/2-inch wonderboard and a leveling compound (plasticized cement slurry), plus a slipsheet (plasticized paper layer) before putting down the thinset and tiles. This will ensure that the floor is extremely solid, and that the difference in thermal expansion between the underlayment and the tiles won't result in tile or grout cracking.
Q:How to fix the surface of the tile? How much is the thickness of the tile?
Finish face to touch the tile angle, four corners must be flat, vertical joints to be vertical, the whole wall should be flat, you said the thickness of what is the slurry? Tiles of cement mortar thickness is generally 1.5 to centimeters, see the tile workers themselves set
Q:Anyone know if that type of ceiling tile has asbestos? Unsure of the year built. It has a texture to it which is why I‘m worried about it.
I don't know that they made ceiling tile out of that but if your that worried then call a Professional to test it. That stuff will kill you don't take unnecessary chances.
Q:I have just had a room tiled with porcelain tiles. They are non-shiny matte tiles and it was suggested to me that i should use a sealer. What sealer would be better to use, a water based or solvent based? What are the differences between using the two?
Penetrating sealer.. Although a water based product, a couple of coats will last years. Mist on( w/ a spray bottle) wipe it thoroughly over the tile and grout with a damp cloth. I dampen a cloth with the sealer. Let set for 10/15 minutes and wipe excess off amd dry. Don t let it puddle and dry. Repeat at least once , twice if possible. The grout must be set for a minimum of 3 days with all the excess grout has all cleaned off. I ve have only used 2 brands over the years Cerama Seal and Miricle 511. I m sure theres others out there but I stick to what works.. Any questions you can e mail through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:I‘m having a small bathroom remodled. The floor isn‘t perfectly rectangular, there are some uneven areas because of the tub. I would like the opinion of a profession tiler (should there be one put there, somewhere)...should the floor tiles always be centered, or start lined up against a wall? Also, should the grout be completely dry before sealing it? Thanks.
You start from the centre always and lay tiles towards the edges. At the tub you take off the removable side and put the tiles under the tub a few inches. Refit the side but will need to take off some of the bottom edge. Get the first tiles exactly square and away you go. Grout should be dried out for at least 3 days before adding a sealant. Also before laying tiles cover the area with 6mm ply wood so that the whole floor is even otherwise you will/might get uneven tiles. Happy New Year.
Q:Is it better to use ceramic or vynil tile in the bathrooms and why?(example: how it feels on your feet if you live in a state where it gets really cold in the winter, how easy are they to clean, etc.)Thanks!
Tile is definetly more astheticly pleasing to the eyes. However it is alot harder to keep clean in the bathrooms. I am on my 4th home...and have had both vynil and tile. Although vynil will not last as long, it is inexpensive to replace, warmer in your feet, and a heck of alot easier to keep clean.. I reccomend vynil over tile anyday.
Q:I have extra floor tiles that i had my kids paint and i want to put them together for my husband for fathers day. any ideas on how to do that?
If the tiles are 12x12 it depends on the number of tiles you had them paint. You could put them in album frames and hang like pictures; you would get a piece of 1/4 plywood cut to size at Home Depot, paint the wood, glue them down and put hangers on the back; You could get cut plastic sheets or acrylic and arrange the tiles on the sheets, let's say if you had four, you could put four square in the center with 1 1/2 inch between them and two inches around the outside (30x30) You could then get the kids to decorate the border on the plastic with paint, beads, mosaic.
