- Q: My current tires are 195/70/14, I will be getting 205/55/16. My current tire PSI is 32. What will my new tire pressure be?
- There should be a sticker from the car manufacturer. It will be on the drivers side door jamb or in the glove box. It lists the recommended tire pressure for that particular car. This pressure will give you the best performance and handling on your particular car. The rear tire pressure is normally 2-3 PSI lower than the front tires. It will also give you different PSI ratings for if you have anyone in the back seat or stuff in the trunk. (This would require a slightly higher PSI in the rear to make up for the added weight.) The PSI number on the sidewall of any tire is a MAXIMUM PSI that should be put into that tire. Since you are going from a 14 inch tire to a 16 inch tire, it might throw off the car manufacturers number. You are going from a 70 series to a 55 series also though. This should almost even out the difference in 14-16. The main factor is probably the 195 to the 205. As long as you don't get any rubbing when turning the wheel all the way left or right, the tires should be fine on your car. You could always ask the dealer which pressure. I wouldn't go by what the guys at the tire store say though. Every time I have ever bought tires, they put all of them at 32-34 PSI. (Some tire shops have different ideas of what the ideal tire PSI is.)
- Q: I have a 2004 Nissan Armada the stock tire size is 265/70/18 would it be a big deal to change to 275/70/18?
- I don't know if that size will fit, but if it does, your speedometer will read slow, and engine RPM will be lower at any given speed than with stock tires. This will effectively give you slightly less power, but a higher top speed. All these differences will be very small, and if the tires don't rub, it won't really cause any problems.
- Q: In most cars there is a tag alongside the drivers door indicating relevant information including recommended tire size to use and tire pressure to apply. My question is: Assuming that the car owner will need new tires periodically using different brands but the same size, does the recommended car manufacturer tire pressure still apply or does it necessarily have to change. Every time I get my tires balanced and rotated, the mechanic always overpressurize the tires by about 5 psi although I suggested to them to follow the pressure listed on the tag.
- Tire pressure recommendation changes with size, not with brand or model of tire. The air in the tire supports the weight of the vehicle. A tire is, if you will, just a very fancy air container. Different sizes of tire have different volumes of air they can contain and this influences how much inflation pressure is required to support a given load. So as long as the tire size does not change, you use the information on the Tire Load and Information Placard on the car. If your mechanic is not inflating the tires properly it is time to find a new one. What else is s/he doing wrong?
- Q: Tire open open the tires, and will not change the tire how to do? What is the best way? What is the effect of the tires on the tires?
- General car after the quench is basically not open, such as continue to open, not only to the tire, the vehicle damage is self-evident, will not change called 4S point rescue service
- Q: Tires incorrectly rotated.
- Tires are supposed to be rotated back to front. Most sporty tires are directional. If you rotate left to right, your tires will be rotating in the wrong direction.
- Q: How long is the life of the car tires?
- If it is according to the provisions of the tire manufacturers is three years 60,000 km
- Q: I‘m trying to buy some tires to start rebuilding my girlfriends Cruiser we got at a garage sale, and I‘m wondering whether or not I can switch out tires marked 26 x 1.75 with tires marked 26 x 2.125? My girlfriend likes Hello Kitty, and Nirve has some 26 x 2.125 tires with hello kitty on them that I‘d want to get if I could.
- The rims should be able to fit the larger tire. But you need to check if you have that extra clearance on the bike frame. Just don't mix fractional sizes with decimal: 26 x 1 3/4 is a different size than 26 x 1.75 In short, you're probably good to go on the change.
- Q: How good studded tires preform at winter with with studs removed comparing to studdeless winter tires?
- I would just by a good set of winter tires and forget about the studded tires all together because studded snow tires can be used without studs, although once you've driven on them without studs, you lose the option of having them installed later. It's possible to install studs, then remove them later if the tread hasn't worn too much, but with 80 to 100 studs per tire, it will take a while to remove them all.
- Q: We are shopping around for a van and a friend of mine told me that SOME but not all AWD Siennas require a special tire, costing at least $800 for a set of 4. Can anyone tell me which models of Sienna AWD require these tires and what are the tires called?
- The only thing I could think of is if your Sienna was equipped with V speed rated tires from the factory. The speed rating is best described as a sort of performance rating, at least here in the US. If this is what your friend is referring to, then he/she is right that V-rated tires are typically more expensive than lower-rated tires, although at least $800 for a set of 4 is simply throwing numbers out there. HOWEVER, on most vehicles that came from the factory with a V-rated tire, it is perfectly safe to drop down to an H-rated tire with no adverse effects on vehicle handling and performance. And just a reminder, AWD vehicles need to have the tires replaced in sets of 4, as putting 2 new tires on the vehicle with 2 worn tires can cause drivetrain problems.
- Q: How to maintain the best tire tires?
- Use the appropriate tire pressure The automobile factory has special provisions on the tire pressure, please follow the mark, do not exceed the maximum value. Tire tire pressure is too low or too high will affect the tire's own life and fuel consumption. Tire pressure is too high will focus on the body in the tread center, resulting in rapid wear center tread. And tire pressure is too low to make the tire grounding area is not uniform, wear increased, increase the rolling resistance, increase fuel consumption. Around the tire pressure to be consistent. When the side of the tire pressure is too low, driving, braking the vehicle will be on the side of the deviation. Also note that the same axle on the two tires should be exactly the same pattern specifications, different manufacturers, different patterns of tires can not be used for both front wheels, or there will be deviation phenomenon.
