- Q: Do you have more tires for car tires?
- Suitable tire specifications. In principle, the new tire specifications should be consistent with the specifications of the original car, requiring the replacement of the tire must be equal to or higher than the original car on the tire speed and maximum load capacity. If you need to change the tire size, you must go to a professional modified shop for tire upgrades or consult the vehicle manufacturer. In addition to manufacturing numbers / manufacturing marks, there are often tires on the sidewall that are suitable for season markers such as WINTER, M + S or AQUATIC, ALL SEASON or ALL WEATHER. These words indicate winter tires, tires and tires , Different regions of the user according to the local climate conditions for their own tires.
- Q: I am. O_e When I get tired I get hyper and feel.
- Yah I'm exhausted I got ready for bed about an hour ago and then came on this site and have been wasting perfectly good sleep time answering questions trying to get to the freaking impossible level 2 so I can give answers a thumbs up/down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I ramble when I'm tired. And when I'm not tired. :( I'm just lonely. I need a life lol tomorrow I'm doing NOTHING!!!!
- Q: How wide of a tire can I mount without problems on the standard 16X6.5 aluminum OEM 5 spoke wheel on my 99 Pontiac Gran Prix GT? The standard size is 225/60. Would like to go a bit wider but dont want rubbing problems on the daily driver!! Thanks
- Live in Atlanta, have to have one. But, I don't know that I would care too much if it did get stolen I've been wanting a new car and since I have only had mine for a yr. this would be a good excuse.
- Q: anybody know a good reference source that shows the calculations to find the biggest diameter tires to put on any given car without changing the specs that affect steering/cornering/driveability?
- no because in real life, most people realize that a car or truck is manufactured for a specific tire size and just replace them with what the manufacturer designed the vehicle for. Anything that is different or oversize starts running into clearence issues and in many cases costs more money, but does absolutely nothing to add to stability or improvement for the vehicle. In fact raising a vehicle, putting bigger tires on messes up the center of gravity and can increase the chances a vehicle will roll at higher speeds. Some shops will not even mess around with oversize tires, people want to try different sizes, but do not want to pay for all the work it takes to mount and dismount a tire, for no other reason than cool factor. Some tire shops flat refuse to do anything beyond what rhe factory recommends.
- Q: Do wheels/tires need to be on my car to have them balanced? Or can I just take the wheels separate from the tires to the shop and have them mount and balance them?
- I'm pretty sure when we had our tyres balanced they were off the car, best bet would be to phone up to double check!
- Q: I recently bought new tires for my 07‘ Chevy Silverado and I was asking about larger rims and tires possibly 20 inch or more and the gentleman said that larger rims and tires on newer vehicles will affect my on board computer and he does not recomend it. Is this true? I see vehicles all the time with larger rims and tires.
- Yes, it will definitely affect the calculations. The onboard computer does not know what size tires you put on - it has been setup by the factory to assume the diameter of the factory recommended tires that are on the tire sticker (usually located on the driver side door frame). If you are lucky to have a computer that you can reprogram then good for you - most do not allow changing the tire size AFAIK. Those other people who have changed their tires are also having issues, but for the most part they might not realize the calculations have been off, since the change might be small for them.
- Q: What does the car tires represent above?
- For example: 235 / 70R16 235 is the maximum width of the cross section of the tire is 235 mm, 70 is the flat ratio, R is the representative of the radial tire, 16 on behalf of the tire diameter of 16 inches,
- Q: I have a 06 yukon thats uses 265 70 16 tires and they are getting to that point to where its time for new tires my brother has a pretty decent set of tires that still have a lot of tread on them but they are 255 70 16 before i go spend 600+ will these tires affect anything
- a 265 is a 31 tire, roughly, a 255 is a 30 tire, roughly wont affect a thing, except a slightly different reading on the speedometer, and a tiny bit less ground clearance, grab his tires, and run them
- Q: I know one is tubeless and one is tubed but what are the benefits to this? How do I convert my mountain bike tires tires
- Tubeless tires have a different compound to enable capturing the air. Changing from tubed to UST can be VERY expensive: If you have single wall rims I would forget it as double wall stuff is required. Here's how to do it: 1) Purchase UST rim strips (about $40 EACH), UST tires (about $50 EACH), and sealant; 2) Remove the old tire, tube, and rim strip; 3) Install the new rim strips making sure it seals; 4) Install the new tire and place the wheel on a truing stand; 5) Unseat a small section of tire and pour in the correct amount of sealant then reinstall the tire; 6) Fill the tire with a high pressure burst, using a luggage hold down strap to go around the tire until it seats. Note that it WILL leak and WILL spew sealant- the amount spewed will depend on how careful you are; 7) Once the tire seats, fill it to approximately 35 psi and rotate the wheel slowly for a few minutes until you can no longer percieve air leaking; 8) Let the wheel sit off the bike for 24 hours and check pressure again. If the pressure remained steady inflate to desired pressure. 9) Plan to do this each time you have to dismount the tire (sans the rim strip) and about 3 additional times per riding season. Yucko.
- Q: Is it better winter tires to be wide or thin. I mean the surface that comes to contact with the snow, for a better grip, on snow and ice.
- Use a Wire Coat Hanger and run it up and down your dress this will remove static in a pinch Good Luck !
