Q: I'm about to replace my all weather tires with winter tires. My car is a 2001 Mercury cougar w/sports package(which apparently makes a difference in tire size). Factory recommended, my car should have v rated tires. They do not make my factory size v rated tires for winter. So the all weathers are 205/55/16, which is what I will be getting for winter tires too. The all weathers that I have now are H rated. Does it really matter what speed rating the tire has if they will be used in winter and I will obviously be going no faster than 50mph, and thats if I feel the roads are ok? The tires I'm interested in are the Winterforce tires with the speed rating of 90S. Factory reccomends 89V for me car. Will the winterforce be ok? Also these tires are called Winterforce 90S BSW. What does the BSW mean?
Winter tires should have Q ratings if they're true winter tread (ie dunlop graspics, blizzaks, etc.). Q rating is up to 99 mph which means everything but highway (for me at least). You don't want anything lower than Q rated. I recommend the graspics because I've used them judiciously in the past (and they are without a doubt awesome in the snow with a supercharged 4 banger) but in the cheaper brands I wouldn't go with anything not made by cooper or general tire. Those are firestone tires but the rating isn't good; you want a studless snow tire for winter; those are all weather rated to 112mph. With a studless snow tire you won't be limited to going out when it's not snowing and going uphill. BSW means BLACK SIDE WALL (from what I gather)...just means the sidewall doesn't have a white, red, or yellow stripe like some tires. The snowflake rated tires are performance winter tires for drivers that don't want to dull the performance of their car in winter and want actual tread. The price matches the performance as they are very expensive.
Q: I‘ve heard different things regarding tire pressure for best fuel economy. Do I do what it says on the inside of my door(35 psi) or what it says on my tires (50psi)? My tires and wheels are not stock so I am curious as to what to do. thanks
OMG! Where do some of these answers come from? Look, as you have already guessed the door sticker applies to the factory installed / stock tires sizes ONLY. Aftermarket performance and / or upsized tires should be inflated in accordance with the recommendations on the tire itself. Inflate to the max psi listed on the sidewall. Now a liittle experimentation is in order to determine the optimum inflation pressure in regards to ride, handling and wear. Start out at say 47 psi on a 50psi max rated tire and see how it performs over a month or so, then go from there. Edit: Well, here we go again. On my 1969 Pontiac Firebird which came equiped with E78 X 14 tires (remember those?), the recommended inflation pressure in the Owner's Manual and the door sticker is 26 psi front and rear. However, this inflation pressure just doesn't seem to work for the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 245/45ZR17 tires that are currently installed, Hmmmm, wonder why? (maybe because they require 48 psi to 51 psi to handle and ride as designed - you know. fully inflated rather than almost flat at 26 psi). Not being a tire professional, I am so confused, whatever shall I do?
Q: I just got back from wal-mart and the cheapest price for the tire i needed was $100.00 a tire. While in there waiting and talking to some people, other‘s were paying 300.00 for just 2 tires. Is the price of tires going up because of this oil spill?
Tire prices are going up because of the high cost of raw materials, particularly steel, the 80% import tarrif on tires produced in China, high transportation costs and the fact that tires are much larger and are built to higher speed ratings today than they were even 10 years ago. A decade ago 80% of tires sold were 13, 14 or 15 diameter. Today no new cars are sold with 13 tires, 14 is virtually non-existant and 15 is considered entry level. Today's sub $20k economy car often comes with a low-profile 17 or 18 high performance tire where a decade ago the same model would have had a 14 standard passenger all-season tire. The price difference between those is more than double.
Q: Im doing a presentation for my marketing class selling bike tires. I need to know the material composition of a bike tire, if there s any warranty or Guarantee, and for how long on bike tires. The price of an average mountain bike tire?Thank you.
most tires (bikes, cars, etc.) primary part is rubber. then there is a cord made of kevlar or other material for strength and puncture resistance (no tire is puncture proof) avg price of a MTB tire: $ 25.00 no warranty or guarantees on most tires for most bikes
Q: I have a dodge charger r/t and i wanted to know if i put new stock tires on it would it increase the performance of the vehicle.
New tires might give you a better ride, better handling, better braking (most important), and maybe, if inflated to the correct PSi, better MPG of fuel. Just what the vehicle manufacturer intended to give it when designed. Best wishes.
Q: Make up a car tires how much money
Patch 20 30 Mushroom Nail 70 80
Q: What is the head of the car tires inflated?
Valve
Q: What is the meaning of car tires 102h?
102 is the load index, and H represents the speed level indicating the maximum speed at which the tire carries the specified load under specified conditions. H corresponds to H 210 km / h. To P195 / 65R15 91H in order to say the specific meaning of "P" refers to the car tires. (LT light truck, ULT mini truck, C business car) General North American market or reference TRA standard only then, goodyear, Hercules more. "195" refers to the width level of the tire cross section, which is the width level (mm) between the two sidewalls, not the width of the tire actually grounded. "65" is the flat ratio of the tire, the width of the tire width and the height of the tire, where the tire height of 65% of the width of the tire, the smaller the value, the more flat, such as 45 ~ ~ 25 series of high-performance tires, but the price expensive. "R" refers to the structure of the tire, indicating that the tire for the meridian structure, that is, its ply is arranged in the radial meridian in the carcass. "B" or "-" indicates that the tire is a skewed structure. "15" indicates the rim diameter (in inches), the tire must match the 15-inch rim, otherwise it can not be installed. (The United States occurred 16-inch tires installed on 16.5inch, the tire wounding, and compensation a lot) "91" that load index: the tire maximum load of 615 kg (1355 pounds). Different load indices represent different maximum loads (usually in pounds or kilograms).
Q: Both of the rear tires of my car are worn out but the two front tires are still good. Should i replace the tires right away or is it fine like that for about a month?
I've rewritten your question: Is it a ok to drive a month on worn-out tires? The answer: Of course not. Obviously your own safety as well as others is at risk here. Tires are your contact with the road surface, and you want quality down there on all four tires! When you're at the tire store, ask the service people to show you how to check the tread depth and how to regularly check the air pressure. In many states it's actually illegal to be driving on tires with less than a minimum tread depth of 2 / 32nds of an inch. Purchase a tire pressure guage if you don't own one. And, check your car's owner's manual for the recommended rotation schedule and procedure for your car. And happy, SAFE driving!
Q: Car tire pressure how much is appropriate
To the number of tire pressure should be the number of vehicles to recommend the value of the depot. This is because the tire pressure setting is mainly taking into account the weight of the body, the chassis height and other vehicle factors. And the use of any brand of tires without necessarily contact.
