Depending on what piece broke, it usually indicates metal fatigue from low quality steel used at high stress points (an engineering short-sight). On those kinds of chairs I just take off the broken pieces (arms, if any) and use the bottom as a roll around stool, cause fixing them only redistributes the stress load to another weak spot. Your best bet is to say you got up and accidently knocked the chair over and it broke. Being up front is going to suck but its the best way. Q: I was thinking of how I might make affordable wedding chair covers for my wedding, but I have found that polyester is very expensive by the yard. I was thinking of making them with cotton and then making the same cover in tulle to fit over the cotton. That would make it to layers of material over the chair. Does that sound totally ridiculous?: I guess it depends on how ugly those chairs really are!! If this is what you want, and you have the time to make them, then, why not? However, I would not make the two layers independantly. Rather, I would cut them out and sew them, two layers at a time. You could even stack a layer of solid, a layer of tulle, a layer of solid, a layer of tulle and then cut them all out at the same time to save time and energy. And, like I said, sew them two layers at a time to even save more time. Make a pattern and one chair cover to try it on a chair first to be sure it fits. Also, it might be wise to ask the venue if they intend to change the chairs before you wedding day. I would hate to see you sew a hundred of these covers and then not be able to use them!! I am not a negative person, but I think you should cover all bases to be sure there are no surprises.

Q: I have a single chair that has been in the family forever. There is a piece of paper glued to the bottom indicating it was produced sometime around 1750. the name Armstrong is stamped into the bottom of the chair. I am looking for any information on this particular chair or manufacturer.: is it African wood? Is it upholstered?? If so, it could be worth about $500+ depending on the condition - try eBay or goggle to see if you can find any antique dealers, or call your local antique shops, If it's an Armstrong chair, it's worth something - if the paper is a signature, it's probably made by the craftsman whose name was Armstrong - Is it a scrolly stamp?

As I posted in response to one of your other questions, I do not believe obesity is a conscious choice, but a bio-chemical imbalance in the insulin system. Q: these are supposed to be used in a restaurant if that helpschair: It would be easier to respond if I knew what type of restaurant will it be (french, italian, casual, upscale etc.) but for a upscale place #3 seems very good. It would be absurd in a pizza place though. They are the only ones that is different from what I see in restaurant everyday. #1 is too much school chairs, only would be OK if you have an cafeteria. #2 is good for a sandwich store or a pizza place, but metal is a hard thing to clean up, and it gets rusty in time (especially if they will be placed outside) I would go for #3.
