Depending on what the backing of the rugs are made of, this might be difficult OR, they have iron on tape that is made just for rugs. I've never seen it in the stores but I've never really looked for it either. I did see them use it on a show on HGTV. You lay the rugs face down with the joining edges against each other on the floor, place the tape evenly along the edges you want to connect, and press with a hot iron. When the joined rugs cool, turn the piece over and comb back and forth with your fingers to hide any of the new seam that night be showing.

- is it a puppy from a litter of your dogs? or have you just bought a 5 week old puppy? if its the latter then you need to take it to the vet asap as a puppy this young will die without the right care/food. report the breeder to the RSPCA (UK) or other organisation if ur in the US. puppies minimum age for leaving dam/litter mates is 8weeks for a good reason, before this age you are only taking on a potentially BIG problem and expensive vet bill.

- Carpet is pretty cheap....$2-$3 per square foot installed but look for a carpet cleaner who is going is use only Hot Water! You need a restorative process. Make sure the carpet cleaner doesn't use soaps or surfactants - they cause the carpet to rapidly resoil...... Get it clean and get the stains out....if you elect to replace go to Loews or .Home Depot ...they have a carpet that uses a new technology called Puraesque.....it can be done, just make sure you get pros instead of a bunch of nerdowells!

- Well, you can get lots of area rugs...or just a couple big ones for the center of the rooms. Sometimes Wally World has them for about $25-30 each. Of course, they aren't high quality, but they'll do. I say center of the rooms, b/c that's most likely where most of the wear/dirt is. But I would try cleaning the carpet really well first. Rent a Rug Doctor and clean it, vacumming with a regular vac REALLY well first. You can save on the carpet shampoo if you use liquid Gain (it's low foam enough, use the same amt. of it the machine requires of the reg. stuff). I have off white carpet, and I've even used bleach in my steam cleaner before. Not something I'd do often, but I was desperate to get it clean and didn't care if it got messed up. It stung my eyes before it was all said and done, but it looked really nice afterwards (I used Gain at the same time also). It didn't bleach the cream color out of my carpet at all, and that's using about 1/8-1/4cup per clean water change. But if you're worried, dilute some bleach with water and test in somewhere hidden first. But if you think your carpet is ugly anyways, I don't know that you'd care if it were lightened up a bit.
