Q: I am in search of a chocolate pie recipe from the better homes and gardens all time fav pie recipes from 1978 or so. I have the book but have misplaced it since moving. i do know it takes semisweet bar chocolate and some more ingredients but i cant recall the measurements. if any one out in net land has this wonderful recipe please leave it on line for me .thanks,seven
I actually have my Mom's Better Homes Gardens cook book c. 1970 :-} Following is the recipe: 1 c. sugar 1/3 c. all-purpose flour or 3 Tbsp. cornstarch 1/4 tsp. salt 2 c. milk Chop 2 1-oz. squares unsweetened chocolate; add with milk. 3 slightly beaten egg yolks 2 Tbsp butter {or margarine} 1 tsp. vanilla 9 baked pastry shell 1 Meringue recipe {follows} In saucepan combine sugar, flour and salt; gradually stir in milk with chopped chocolate. Cook and stir over med. heat till mixture boils and thickens. Cook 2 minutes longer. Remove from heat. Stir small amt hot mixture into yolks; return to hot mixture; cook 2 minutes stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla; cool to room temp. {To prevent a crust from forming, put clear plastic wrap or waxed paper directly on top, touching surface of hot pudding clear to sides of bowl.} Pour into baked pastry shell Meringue: Beat 3 egg whites with 1/4 tsp cream of tartar and 1/2 tsp vanilla til soft peaks form. Gradually add 6 Tbsp. sugar, beating til stiff peaks form and all sugar is dissolved. Spread atop pie, sealing to pastry. Bake in moderate oven {350} about 12 to 15 mins or til meringue is golden. Yuummmmmm!!!! :-}
Q: Can anyone give me a list of careers, that give parties, sell with catalogs and basically are done from in the home? I'm looking for a list other than Avon, Mary Kay Tupperware but that are similar to the way these companies are run.
I do Purse Party. We have our own line or purses and jewelry and the commissions are great with a very low start up cost! Let me know if you want the info!
Q: that will do well, i living in the caribbean. i have some space in the yard and would love to help the home a few streets away, i am new to gardening any advice on what will grow best and how long it will take to produce?
okra should grow easy in your area, thing is would the kids eat it? tomatoes should be easy enough in your area, i would recommend an heirloom variety, buy seed online. any of the squash would grow well; summer and winter. The winter, which grow in the summer but store well through the winter might be a good choice; they are good cooked until very soft mashed with butter and sugar. onions, buy the sets and grow all winter for spring harvest in your area.
Q: I saw my neighbors last year use this method: I'm looking for a good website on it. Please.They put some black plastic over their soil. Then after a couple weeks they cut holes in the plastic and planted their yard plants. The plants within a month had grown beautifully and practically covered all the black plastic. Any websites on this method would be fantastic. Thank You!!
I don't know of a website, but I used this black mess last year. I did not wait to cut hole and plant, but did it in the same day. The idea is to have little or no weeding. I bought mine at the garden center at K-mart.
Q: This is a good website but I was just wondering if anyone know of any other QA sites that dealt with gardening questions? The more the better. Thank you.

Q: Where can I find home decorating magazines or websites?
everyone okorder /
Q: will polls surveys try and match the offer ?
If you decide to defect I would suggest the motorcycle category, they're all infighting over there about what bikes are cool and what aren't. Too many sticks up too many @sses, but you might have fun pushing their buttons, they have NO sense of humor!
Q: why doesn't my home have a garden?
Well Ninja Kangaroo, first, somebody's got to say this home needs a garden. Then somebody needs to be willing to dig in the dirt, add things to the dirt, learn about plants, trees, flowers, decide what the garden is going to contain, shop for the plants, put them in the ground, feed, water, pull weeds, mulch, give that garden a lot of tender loving care to nurture it into a lovely, joyous addition to the home.
Q: I am babysitting two children this summer, ages 3 and 6. I don't have transportation available to me, and their home is not within walking distance of anything.In brainstorming ideas of what to do, I thought of doing a garden with them.However, their parents rent a home and don't have a very large yard, so we can't have one in the ground.What are some plants that can handle living and producing in pots?I want to do veggies or flowers that can be cut- things that they can take pride in having grown.Help????? My thumb is more black than green...
Pansy's, miniature conifer trees. cabbages .most plants that can be planted in the garden can go in to pots and vegetables tomatoes are the best they have to be planted in to seed trays then when they start to get leaves on them a bigger pot then when a few inches bigger a larger pot or try water cress
Q: When i was young, my dad used to make us meatloaf from the Red 'Better Homes and Gardens recipe book... when my mom left, she took the book, so we don't have the recipe anymore.i am looking for the meat loaf recipe for using the microwave. I've found a copy of the baked version from BHG website, but it just isn't the same... the help would be VERY MUCH appreciated.(ingredients were eggs, milk, bread crumbs, onion, mustard, brown sugar and ketchup...)
From better homes and gardens cookbook the red checkered one spaghetti sauce and meatballs
