Q: My city is experiencing Stage 2 water restrictions. Could you please explain the following?1. What the Aquifer level has to be for each stage to take affect.2. What each stage-limit entails.3. Do restrictions differ from state-to-state? 4. Is it a necessity to water your yard, other than it looking nice? Does it mess with foundation(or whatever)?5. How many stages are there?6. Can the aquifer run completely out of water? What would you do then? P.S: I posted this in HomeGarden, 1 person answered, not much info...didn't know where else to post. sorry...
you can water today, but not tomorrow.
Q: Is it possible to have a home garden in Vegas, or is it just to hot?
You can have a garden in most environments, it just depends on the plants, you may find you might have to have things like ornamental grasses and cacti, things like these thrive on the hot weather, but also you might want to do some research on plants and find ones which don't require much watering, this not only makes it easier for you but also it lowers your water bill, meaning an easy, affordable and maintainable garden!
Q: Hi I'm trying to create a mini home garden of veggies like spinach, lettuce varieties, cherry tomatoes, basil chives ..etc. And some flowersMy little seedlings are growing well the have just germinated and are sproutingBut in some pots I didn't use pots with holes in the bottom simply because I didn't find any good ones is this going to affect my plants?! What can I do to get around it? I am worried about the nitrogen stacking up in the soilAnother thing is do u have any ideas for sprouts o leaves that are edible, a nice quick harvest and that can grow in small pots like beansprouts for example.. I can't seem to recall any names of these VeggiesI would appreciate any kind of hone gardening tips and Ideas so please feel free to elaborate or summarize, be creative or realistic I could use all and everything
The first step in beginning your own garden is to determine what you want to grow. Are you looking to spruce up your front lawn? Consider planting some colorful perennials around your walkway and driveway to draw attention to your landscaping. Are you looking to grow fruits and vegetables for you and your family to enjoy? Convert your backyard into a fresh produce grocer by planting edible crops. If it is your first time planting food, it is recommended that you start small with items like tomatoes, peppers, or squash. It is important to consider how many people you are planning to feed, as this will determine how much you need to grow. Once you have figured that out, you will be able to determine how much space you need. Don’t forget to think about the location of the sun and the quality of the soil you will be planting in. After your seeds have been planted, be sure to monitor their water intake. Check on the plants daily to ensure that there is no damage from weather elements or animals.
Q: My momma rat and her babies live in an aquarium glass tank. They are 4 weeks old now and CRAZY. I need to find a larger cage from them. I was going to use chicken wire and wrap it around this old cage I had (the bars were too far apart) but we are all out. Any other iddeas??? Maybe to help make the bars not so far apart/ make the babies not be able to escaoe??? I have to wean the babies in a week, I am going to put momma and her 2 girls in the aquarium until I find them homes, and keep all 5 boys in the new cage i need. PLease hellpp?
I used a large plasctic box. It says they chew threw that kind of stuff, but I have three rats and they never bit on it. I poked a hole in the side and used a little duck-tape to put thier water bottle. Then I cut up a tissue box and they like to hide in it. When my rats breed they never got threw. (It was pretty thick plastic). These are all things you can find around the house without getting ripped off by petsmart for a 150$ cage.

Q: My aunt made these a while back and I asked her for the recipe.. She said it was in the Better Home Gardens cookbook. I thought I had this cookbook but it must have gotten lost when I moved. Does anyone have a copy of this recipe? Thanks!
Here it is: Ingredients: 1 cup unsalted butter, softened 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar plus additional for sprinkling 1 large egg 2 tablespoons finely grated peeled fresh gingerroot 2 tablespoons dark corn syrup 1 1/2 teaspoons freshly grated orange zest 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice 3 1/4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking soda 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves 1 tablespoon ground ginger In a bowl with an electric mixer beat butter with 1 1/2 cups sugar until light and fluffy and add egg, beating until combined well. Beat in fresh gingerroot, corn syrup, zest, and orange juice. Into mixture sift remaining ingredients and beat just until combined well. Halve dough and on a sheet of wax paper form each piece into a 10-inch log. Chill logs, wrapped in wax paper, at least 1 day and up to 1 week. Preheat oven to 350°F. and lightly grease baking sheets. Cut logs into 1/4-inch-thick slices and arrange 2 inches apart on baking sheets. Lightly sprinkle cookies with additional sugar and bake in batches in middle of oven 10 to 15 minutes, or until golden. Transfer cookies to racks to cool. Makes about 80 cookies.

Q: Apparently the former owners of our mobile home had a problem with something underneath the trailer (leaky faucets, etc) and tore out the support from underneath the garden tub in the master-bath. I noticed what looked like a hair one day while cleaning the tub and realized that it was not a hair it was a crack!! The crack is only about an inch long and is still fitted together, so I don't think it leaks much at all, unless one side or the other gets pushed down. It's definitely not a gaping hole or anything and we do still use the tub, though we are careful to stay away from the crack, which is in the very bottom, about 4 inches from the drain. We are planning on going under the trailer this summer to quot;shorequot; things back up, but I need to know if there is any way to fix the crack without having to replace the whole tub. There is no way we can afford that..
I recommend either going with the epoxy mentioned above, or fiberglass. You could put the largest part of either patch on the bottom if it's accessible, and just a small amount on top to keep the tub looking as nice as possible. I used fiberglass on a out door hot tub with good results. You can buy fiberglass at a automotive supply store, but be careful of the fumes when applying it. Have good ventilation or wear a respirator for organic gasses. The fiberglass would make a longer lasting patch, as epoxy seems to weaken over time.
