- Q: rubber cement or liquid glue? which one would work better for making a homade card. ill be glueing on small pieces of paper and ribbon to a larger sheet of paper
- Gorilla Glue is just right, but weight it down at the same time it dries. GG expands something like 30% and makes air bubbles when drying, so if it can be no longer weighted, the rubber piece will stick up and may ooze. Use sparingly!
- Q: I put it over ice instead of salt and now it's still on the cement in hard clumps.

- Q: what is the best cement to fix cracks on cool decking
- You can buy cartridges of cement like stuff for small cracks. When you say cool decking do you mean temperature or style. I'm assuming temperature. If the cracks are bigger you can get premixed in buckets. What is the best? Cement is cement any crack you fill will have to be refilled. New cement does not stick well to old dry cement. They do make plastic fillers, my landscaper used it for grout in the patio, that has held up real well over the years. You may want to try that. Got to Lowes or HD and talk to the people there for details.
- Q: I skateboard and snowboard, and falling on the cement, or falling in the snow doesn't hurt nearly as much as falling on strait ice, like in an ice-skating rink. Why is that?
- well maybe its because your cold and wen u hit sumthin wen ur cold its gonna hurt double then wen ur warm and i think it hurts more on cement since its uneven and ur hands get scraped up i dont skateboard but i do a lot of things in the street lik basebal basketball and football i live in the city
- Q: i am making a disc golf course tee for my boy scout eagle project. i know a little about cement, but for anyone who knows a lot about cement construction, can you explain this...i need to make a rectangular and circular tee(which is a cement platform where one would stand while throwing a disc). the circle has a diameter of 11ft and rectangle is 11x9. I will be building it on dirt, which is level. I think i will need to dig a hole in the ground in the shape i want. then i have some gravel to put in. then cement in the hole. anyone know how much gravel, or if any, i should put in before i lay in the cement in the hole? thanks people!
- M R is correct in his answer. try setting the post in a concrete footing, then using a medium/fine mulch around the tee and the basket
- Q: i have to get 2 yards of cement from a quot;shortloadquot; truck to the back patio area in 20 minutes is this possible. approx 80 feet away
- have some one help get 2 barrows going, a cubic yard is 3 foot square, so 4 loads in 20 min ? going to be hard or rent a cement buggy self powered, will haul a yard at one time
- Q: the house is from 1959. Before I bought it the owners re-landscaped without any consideration for water flow thus causing the basement to have seepage through the walls. I fixed the water flow issue (1.5 years dry) but now I have painted cement walls that have paint pushed out/peeling with a few visible cracks and wonderful mineral deposition. I really don't want to spend the time with the metal wire brush to strip the paint off so I would like to just use hydraulic cement over the whole wall and then use a water sealing paint over the top. Is this a good idea? other suggestions?
- That sounds more time consuming than just scraping off the peeling paint..... Here's 1 problem w/your approach, latex paint dries so fast that it actually creates a vacuum effect in doing so, which means that as it dries it'll pull off the surface anything that's not firmly attached, which is why prep work's so important to longevity. You won't immediately notice this happening, but w/the passage of time you'll be back to the peeling wall in spades. I've never heard of skim-coating w/hydraulic cement, but I've done plenty of patching plaster walls w/plaster of paris, what immediately comes to mind are the inherent problems w/working in a medium that sets up so quickly, I can't imagine how you'd get a whole wall covered looking even satisfactory (but I'm pretty picky, I figure when people are paying me I'm obliged to do a better job than they could've) w/out going insane in the process. I learned the trick to plaster, but I don't know the chemistry of hydraulic cement well enough to find a retardant for it. Anyways, I know prep-work sucks, but often it's just easiest to do it get it over with (start w/a stiff putty knife, by the way) rather than inventing a new process having to deal w/a long string of learning curves as you go. The first question that came to mind w/your question is have you ever skim-coated anything before so that you'd have even a vague idea of what you're getting yourself into potentially, but if you must create, than by all means go forth!
- Q: I know it's mostly different names for the same thing, but there must be some differences. It might have something to do with adding sand and/or rocks to make a mixture, but I'm not sure.
- Difference Between Mortar And Concrete
- Q: hi i know how cement is made. my main question is when do we use cement entirely? for instance, concrete is used to make roads etc. similarly, in constructing a 10 floor building, do we concrete in all the 10 floors or is concrete used only in foundation and pilings/pillars etc? is cement used only as a smoothing agent or as binding agent in making brick walls etc.thx
- Portland Cement is is the binding agent in making concrete. Concrete is made of cement, limestone, sand. You would not cement other than to mix up concrete. Mortar, a mixture of sand cement is used in brick walls.
- Q: I just poured cement anchors for a swingset. Eventually, I will cover the entire area with a tarp and then 3-4 inches of pea gravel. I'm wondering how long I should wait, to do this. Should I wait a week or so for the cement to cure more, before I cover it up? Or can I lay down the tarp immediately?
- You can add the tarp and gravel right away. Avoid using the swings for a couple days after the cement is poured.
