Q: I've got a badly clogged bathroom sink. I took out the draiin cover and I can see where the water is just standing/ draining extremely slowly. I can't reach the clog, but I was able to get a wire coat hanger into it and pull out a small bit of hair (not sure how hair even got into the sink!) but it didn't do anything to speed the draning. There could be a small bit of gravel in the drain from a few months ago as well as some bits of paper (all on accident, I'd never put anything down there!). I already tried some baking soda and vinegar but it didnt help, the vinegar just made the water level raise. The water is maybe 6 or 7 inches from the drain (not in the sink, in the pipe). What should I do? Thanks for your help :): I have a cheaper solution. Remove everything from underneath the sink. Remove the thing that you open and close to let water in and out of sink (don't know the name of it). Put a towel and bowl underneath the pipe. Get something long and narrow to push the hair down the drain, such as a wooden spoon. Turn off the water (hot and cold handles under the sink). Mark how the pipes are aligned so they will be replaced properly later. Unscrew the U-shaped pipe over the bowl and set the pipe aside. Stand above the sink and push the hair down into the bowl until the drain is clear. It will stink. Replace everything and turn the water back on.

Q: Over the weekend I put a reddish packet down on my NEW, WHITE bathroom sink. When I went to pick the packet up I saw it had left a PINK STAIN about the size of a half dollar on my new sink (I *think* the sink is porcelain but I'm not positive. THE BATHROOM SINK!): If you have a P trap on your sink they should not be able to come through. A P trap is an S shaped pipe beneath your sinks drain it should always have water in it. If you do not have a P trap or there is no water in it then you should start with that. If your ants are capable of scuba diving their way up through this water barrier then I would recommend a back water valve this is a small plastic box with a 1 way flapper type door inside that lets anything from the sink push open the flapper and pass through but closes when anything tries to go up from below The back water valve is glued onto your plastic drain pipe after the P trap, you will have to cut the pipe for this and glue in the new piece.
