Q: so when i turn the water on this horrible smell comes from the bathroom sink. what can i use to get rid of it?: I would try vinegar and/or baking soda. You could also try boiling a pot of water and then pouring the hot water down the drain. You could also go to a home improvement store and buy a snake to try dislodging anything that could be stuck in there and causing the odor. I wouldn't pour bleach or any other chemical down the drain in case it is sewer gas. The bleach and the gases could combine to make you sick, or worse yet, go kaboom! Call your landlord or a plumber if general cleaning doesn't work.

Q: If you are washing your hands, rinsing sink after brushing teeth, etc., the sink fills up with water. Does anyone know why this would happen? The only thing I can think of is that water covers the entire opening to the drain, and air cannot escape when water tries to move in.I have tried liquid de-clogging products, which seem to work a little, but the pipes are PVC, and pretty clean. Q: kitchen sink: it sounds like theres a waterfall underneath it and, from what we can tell, it seems to be leaking from the vertical pipe.bathroom sink: sounds like a very tiny waterfall. It mainly sounds like a water faucet does when you have it turned on at normal speed. We attached the cabinet to the wall and attached the drain and water supply but the sink itself isnt secured to anything and doesnt seem safe.: Most sinks have a backsplash going up the wall a few inches. You can use industrial adhesive to attach it to the wall (like Liquid Nails), then use more of the adhesive to attach the sink to the top of the cabinet.

Is there any other way?: Bathroom sinks clog primarily because hair gets snagged on something in the waste line, builds up, forms a nice fibrous reinforcement for soap to stick to and then you've got a first class clog. Drano will only loosen the soap, it doesn't really get rid of the hair, so it's only a temporary solution. Plus, the hair will continue to build up with continued use. Does this sink have a pop-up lever for the stopper? Those are the first places that clog. If it's a new, or even from the last twenty years, sink, you should be able to disassemble the nut where the popup lever enters the waste pipe, pull out the lever and then to go town with your choice of tool - snake, coat hanger wire, whatever, to remove that hair. I usually disassemble the trap and clean out the whole mess, from sink to where the waste line enters to wall or floor, and then it's good for several years. Don't waste a lot of money on drano or similar products - they're only effective up to a point and they're hard on the environment.
