Q:how to tile vanity top and back splash?
Yes, You should use a backer board or cement board. It makes the best base so your tiles will not pop loose. When cutting backer board wear a dust mask as it is hazardous to your lungs, but use the backer board if you want the job done right. Be sure to fill in any seams with grout where you may have had to piece your board before tiling too.
Q:We are laying 18 x 18 porcelain tiles in our kitchen for an open house we‘re having in 6 days. We can‘t figure out when and how to tile under the refrigerator. Do we have to move the refrigerator into another room? Can we wait two days for the mortar and grout to set firm and move the refrigerator onto the newly installed tile so we can lay tile where refrigerator will go? If we do that, should we then wait 24 hours for that tile to set so we can move the refrigerator back into place? What is the best way to handle the installation? I would appreciate any thoughts on how this is most ideally done.
1. Should have been done days ago. 2..Under present circumstances I would install all tile EXCEPT beneath the fridge. 3. Then, after open house, newly laid tile will have had a least a week for the adhesive and grout to fully set and cure, 4. Gently tilt the fridge backward to raise the front wheels [or casters or whatever] off the floor 5. Install a metal sheet [the thickness of the new tile and mortar and the width of the casters (wheels) under the fridge] under the front of the fridge and butted up against the new tile. This is to protect the edge of the new tile when you gently roll the fridge out of its cubbyhole in the cabinetry, 6. Remove the old floor covering, and clean and prep the floor. 7. Install the mortar and new tile, leaving the fridge out until the tile has set, and then 8. Replace the fridge.
Q:What is the basic role of tile glue?
The basic role is clearly posted more solid brick can not afford to brick Baidu experience - tile adhesive construction method
Q:We laid tile in our shower and I used too much grout. Now I need to know how to get the grout lines even without damaging the tile. Any help would be appreciated.
Kudos to William After installing multiple thousands of sq. ft. of tile, and hundreds of gallons of grout, I so want to not offend you; but the WIPE process probably should have been more resolute on your part. Grout is Mortar/Cement essentially, and when doing tile grouting; the sponging might often be considered as a 3 stage process. Barely moist immediately after application; then as the grout sets, the sponging can increase in how wet you work it. The final result is often just DUST that can easily be wiped away. The issue should have been easy to relate to; as most tile has compressed edges; designed to allow wiping, but not strictly grouting flush with the tile face. In your case, and again; no offense; it seems it's beyond those stages. I guess I'm also curious as to the type of sponge you used. Knowledge is something we so often gain AFTER we NEED it. Certainly you'll have to use abrasives, and possibly a rounded paint knife blade or dinner knife. Nylon/woven scrubbers will likely be ineffective. With care; and if the tile is decent; scraping at the grout shouldn't scratch the tile; to any extreme. The deeper truth however; is that it may never look as it should; and almost as if the grout is squeezed out or bleeding onto the tile face. I do wish you well. Steven Wolf
Q:Is there any one who have knowledge about Ceremic tiles? plz suggest me.
ceremic tile is really so good for interior designing .you also try wall tile for wall, bathroom tile for bathroom and so on.
Q:I was clowning around with my son and I accidentally knocked over a table and chipped a tile. It's about a quarter size chip. You can actually see the dark bottom part of the tile so its kinda deep. I was wondering if I can fix it without replacing it. What do I need? By the way, I blamed on my 4 year old !!!!!!!!! THX 4 ur help!
Find a good ceramic cement (ask at a tile shop) and glue the chip back into place. If it's a single chip, and you're very careful, you can make the job almost invisible.
Q:How many tiles measuring 450mm x 450mm do i nedd to cover an area of 6m x 2m?
Your answer is 60 tiles (actually about 59 and 1/4 tiles). 1 meter = 100 centimeters = 1,000 mm Area: 6 meters X 1000 = 6,000 mm 2 meters X 1,000 = 2,000 mm 6,000 mm X 2,000 mm = 120,000,000 mm2 Each tile: 450 mm X 450 mm = 202,500 mm2 Number of tiles: 120,000,000 mm2 : 202,500 mm2 = 59.26 tiles or ~59 1/4 tiles. An easier way is to convert the whole thing to meters. That will avoid all the confusing zeros, while the result remains the same (as using inches rather then 1/16 or 1/32. lol).
Q:I need to install tiles on the floors of a 500 square foot apartment. I am torn between ceramic tile and vinyl. What is the price differential in terms of materials and labor? In otherwords: in total, how much would I pay to have the entire apartment tiled in ceramic vs. vinyl? Please note I am not a DIY person AT ALL so approximate labor prices are crucial. Thanks!
vinyl tile would be a lot cheaper..off the top of my head and if the place is empty and the floor that the vinyl tile is going over is in good shape, you are probably looking at around 800 dollars........ceramic maybe 3 to 4 thousand......these figures are far from exact but the vinyl tiles could probably be finished in a day, whereas, the ceramic could take 4 to 5 days in all.........
Q:I have 1in. tile all over my bathroom,is tthere a paint to use that will stay on?
You can get tile paint, but I've never seen a good finish with it. It'd be better to change the tiles.
Q:How many square meters of tiles (wall) (Tiles) multiple?
Walls 14.174 kg / square Floor tile 28.08 kg / square
