Q: I need to have something that makes you think of a tiled bathroom with flair. My work tends to be creative and one of a kind because I work with people to give them the project they didn‘t know they wanted. It really is my passion to keep the customer happy that they had a hand in the layout. So how do you have a quick name that‘s memorable and not a commercial mess like Tile and Bathrooms Incorporated Industries. Anyone‘s help is much appreciated on this. Its been like thinking about the perfect kids name for your future child at this point. Thanks
Luxury Tile Bath Studios Executive Bath Tiles Goddess Bath Tiles Creative Bath Tile Studio DaVinci Bath Tiles . I figure something that makes me think of Mount Olympus Gods Goddesses using the can or something. Not Turkish Baths, though, 'cuz that makes me think you'll stumble upon some gay orgy inside or something. The Studio-bit makes me think that you're really creating a work of art. Maybe, Masterpiece Bath Tile Designs ?
Q: I am looking at replacing my kitchen floor, which currently has carpeting. (Bought the house like that.) And now I am looking to do either vinyl or tile. I understand tile is good for a lifetime, where as vinyl is good for 15-20 years for the heavier kind, but tile is double the cost. We plan on staying in our house a long time, if not forever, but in the case we would decide to sell, would tile or vinyl give us more value?
I could write a book on how to lose money in real estate, so listen up! Tile will NOT increase the value of your home. Value is based upon an old formula that counts Square Feet, and that's all! Whatever you put on the floor today will be outdated in 15-20 years and the new buyer will want to replace it. Tile can crack when you drop a heavy pan or pot on it. Expensive repair. Tile is not as comfortable to walk on. Tile will feel cold in the winter. And when wet, tile will be super slippery. Plus, tile needs a Perfectly Flat base- most homes don't have that and require extra sub-flooring or leveling compound if you're on a slab. Now-a-days the vinyl flooring is Excellent. You can get vinyl that Looks like tile, is a little cushioned and comfy to walk on and has an expected life of 20+ years! When you sell, there is NO difference in what your house will appraise. Save the extra money and get a Better floor, more livable and half the expense of tile and go with a high quality vinyl.
Q: How to paste tiles better
Precautions ????Tiles before the application of blisters, the number of bubbles can be built how much, do not all the one-time bubble finished, soaked with water to meet the construction progress of the workers. Due to improper mixing of cement and sand caused by the proportion or due to improper cement, cement, the proportion of large, strong adhesion of tiles, brick can quickly stick, but the high proportion of cement mixing, cement mortar expansion coefficient, easy After the paving the brick will be cracked. The recommended ratio of wall tiles is 1: 3, tiles are: 1: 2 - 3, cement cement is numbered 32.5 cement. Grinding to be careful not to damage the tile glaze layer, the link attention to the gap, not too small.
Q: I am having glass tile installed. It is in a high use area...backsplash with lots of good cooking going on...should it be sealed, and if so by what kind of sealer. The glass tile is frosted. Thanks.
If it weren't for the grout joints, you wouldn't have to apply sealer to the area. Grease and oil splatter from frying will not soak into the glass tiles, but it will soak into the grout joints. Eventually, the grout joints will become discolored and impossible to clean. For that reason, it is a good idea to apply sealer to the area. Keep in mind that you will have to thoroughly clean the area, especially the grout joints, every couple of years and reapply a new coat of sealer. Good luck with your new glass tile backsplash.
Q: I want to put tiles down on my kitchen floor, but first I need to pull up the old pattern. It is a whole piece of laminate flooring that is starting to come undone where the dining room and kitchen meet. So how would I go about doing this? Do i just pull the laminate up? Is there a specific way to put the tiles down?
yes, okorder
Q: We are using some leftover floor tile (6x6 size) and some new decorative tile (2x2 and 1x1) to tile our backsplash. Can we use the same mortar that we used on the floor? Also, we used a 1/4 inch notched trowel when doing the floor -- should we use a smaller notch for the backsplash (say, a 1/8 inch notched trowel)? Finally, the floor tile and the 1x1 tiles are porcelain. The 2x2 tile is tumbled travertine with quite a few pits on the surface. We don‘t know if we should fill those pits with grout or not. On one hand -- it will make the tiles easier to clean if they are filled (yes?). On the other, we like the look of the pits and don‘t know if we want the grout (which is a slightly darker color) filling the pits. Any suggestions?
After installing thousands of sq. ft. of tile, and getting many thumbs down here?? I offer my thoughts. On a personal note, I don't come here to boost ego or income. DO NOT grout the texture of the travertine just to fill it. First of all the texture of the grout will be different than the tile, NOT likely remain in the smallness of the PITS, and unless it's in a color that matches; will stand out as it it was NEON. I use both sized knives to trowel mortar, in your case 1/8 will be fine. Since any tile should be regularly cleaned,,,given the surfaces they cover,,, I suspect the difference in tiles and textures is interesting and the PITS wherever else they exist must have the same issue? Yes? I might not attempt it, but as a DIY, for your own home, it's not a horrible idea, and certainly can be changed at some point. I guess in the end however I'm most curious about why not save the 6x6 for possible repair/replacements? Also I'm curious about WHY the NEW/Different? Is it in use elsewhere in the house? Is it different, in general, than the horizontal surface it will BUTT against? Finally and with no offense meant,,,Why 6x6 on a floor? Is it a bathroom? Finally, finally,,, DON'T bother to use a sealer that might make you think the Travertine will clean easier. It will only cause an issue of occasionally having to re-apply sealer. Steven Wolf
Q: I rent but we have cracked a couple of white kitchen counter tiles. Is there a quikfix alternative to replacing them? We realize the solution would be cosmetic.
I can tell you of a little trick that I have done, and no one is the wiser!(No one can tell) I cracked two of mine next to the sink. I had to stop and think about this one awhile. It was in the kitchen and that's where everyone in the world congregates, and is very visible. It was a big crack, with a gap in the middle on one of the tiles, and just a plain crack on the other tile. I came up with using some of my white modelling clay to fill in the gap, and when dried, I covered it with White-Out. (I didn't have any porcelain repair.) The white out holds up to the water, believe it or not! Matter of fact, I've used it to fill in little chips that the sink had in it. And it's still there! Even after scrubbing the sink with comet! I'm both shocked and happy I came up with the idea of using it! Now that's just a quick fix. Under normal circumstances,I would have either looked for new tile,or have gone and bought some porcelain repair at the hardware store. Byee
Q: My house decoration, the decoration division to pay in the cut tiles, the whole piece of tiles cut on both sides, the rest of the total when the waste thrown. He said it was not straight. Do not you know that you have encountered such a situation? Did he make sense? Is there any way to prove that his operation is in question? Thank you al
in fact, the general brick is no problem, I guess or the master Technical problems, looking for businesses to, in fact, let the business to illustrate the problem, but also to avoid the contradiction between you and the master out.
Q: I want to install vinyl over a tile floor. What procedures should I take? What adhesive? What prep on the ceramic?
You should definitely remove the tile as well as the underlayment for the tile. Screw down the subfloor to the floor joist so that the new floor doesn't squeak. Install vinyl underlayment, crack fill the joints and install your vinyl flooring. Be sure to pay attention to your threshold where the new floor meets the old floor at the door openings.
Q: Hey!,I want to know how to make handmade tiles that you can paint and stuff....I need step-by-step instructions please !!
In some measure it depends on how strong you want the tiles to be. Fired clay, in even a tile sense, is usually done at 3600 degrees in a kiln. Then cooled, painted/glazed/ etc. and fired again. At a decent pottery retailer you can find dozens of types of clay, and in fact some that is low fire, or even oven bake, which can be hand painted, and perhaps glazed over with a clear coat and no re-firing, but the strength and durability issue will still exist. Clay for tile, Ceramic or Porcelain, is slab rolled for consistency, Cut precisely, fired in kilns, cooled, then is decorated variously. Some larger houses will sell blanks that one can decorate themselves, even coffee mugs/cups/ bathroom sinks. etc. Obviously with a rolling pin and some risers, at 3/8 or 1/4, you could hand roll the clay and cut it, but then what? Below is a link for a general search to a company that can give you all the info you need in various methods and types of clay used. I spent a lot of $$$ with them in the early part of this decade. Steven Wolf Just my two sense
