Q:bouncing the ball on the cement first then change to bouncing the ball on the carpet to see which floor the ball bounces the highest is my independent Variable the carpet? Is the dependent Variable the lower bounce on the carpet. Is the controlled variable the quality of the carpet
How high your ball bounces is dependent on which surface you bounce it on. The height that you drop it from is the controlled variable as well as using the same ball.
Q:Please any one says me Chemical composition of Portland cement?
Typical constituents of and Portland cement Mass% Calcium oxide, CaO 61-67% Silicon oxide, SiO2 19-23% Aluminum oxide, Al2O3 2.5-6% Ferric oxide, Fe2O3 0-6% Sulfate 1.5-4.5%
Q:Also which of the stars has put there real barefeet into the cement.
thank you everyone for answering
Q:Preferably in a bright white color.
Glue or concrete?
Q:i want to put some cement in my backyard for a basketball court, is it really expensive, and about how much is it per ft.?
It really depends on the depth of the cement. If you have want it just to play basketball the 3 inches would be perfect, howver if there are harsh weather conditions where you live then you might want to make it 4 inches. It can be expensive depending on if you are going to do it yourself or if you are going to pay some one to do it. ALso if you are going to order the cement from the company or if you are going to mix it yourself. If you pay someone it will cost you about $1500 (3 inches high for 6 yards( price may vary according to your state), it might be as high as $3000 (4 inches in depth (from dirt-surface of cement)). If you do it yourself but you order the mix from a company-->>$600-800 -- about $120 per yard(plus the labor (if you do it yourself you will still need at least 2 more people to help you since 6 yards is a lot.) If you buy the concrete mix bags from home depot you would need about 60-80 bags they are about $5 each. Then also if you intend to do it yourself you would need a lot of tools and buying them would be worse than paying someone to do it. If I were you I would just pay someone to do it 3 inches in depth. If you intend to put cars It must be at least 6 inches deep.
Q:Describe how concrete is made from cement?
Concrete contains: * Portland Cement - Sintered limestone, clay, and gypsum * Aggregate - filler such as rocks and sand * Additives - often nylon fibers, or chemicals, to affect strength or cure time * Reinforcement - optional, steel cable, wire, mesh, or bars. * Water - which binds the cement molecules chemically * Carbon dioxide - joins in from the air to help form crystals in the mixture. Concrete is made by: * Preparing the mold or form, such as laying boards, flattening soil, stamping a shape into sheet metal, or just digging a round hole. * Laying the reinforcements, such as a grid of textured steel bar, or maybe nothing at all. * Mixing the rest of the ingredients in a hopper large enough to handle the weight * Pouring the mud/slurry into the form * Packing, shoveling, or vibrating to help settle the mud and remove trapped air. Typical concrete may set (harden) in 30 minutes to a few hours. Cure time is longer (maximum strength) and typically takes from a few days to a month. Cure may be incomplete if the cement is allowed to dry out, so it's common to cover concrete with plastic, sealants, sprinklers, or use chemicals mixed in to help retain moisture during the cure. These same procedures happen, whether it's a bag of quick-crete poured into a hole with a mailbox post, or whether it's a million ton footing poured in a single session. A great way to see this in action is to look for road construction, or bridge construction.
Q:I think we have been already taught how this goes, butIf you mix water and cement, and you record the mass while it's still wet, then if it dries, will you also get the same mass? if not, much percent do you think will be lost?
The problems with cement is that it's a very Thirsty molecule. Could be all the water remains in the concrete. Concrete doesn't harden because it loses it's water - it hardens because of a chemical change (it's hot). Portland cement can harden under water - and the Romans understood this. Some of their bridges are still in use. Then the idea was lost until the end of the 18th century, I think.
Q:What is the meaning of 53 grade cement ?
The grade of a portland cement corresponds to how much pressure it can take after it has set for 28 days. 53-grade cement must have a compressive strength of 53 MegaPascals (7687 pounds per square inch) after 28 days. There are also 33 and 43 grades, which must have minimum compressive strengths of 33 and 43 MPa respectively.
Q:our prank is to dig 1 foot wide/1 foot deep trenches shaped like ***** and fill with cement, so how do we fill it cement, can we pour the powder stuff into the trench and fill with water then mix it with a stick, and dont tell me i shouldnt do it, or its mean, i dgaf, we have a full-proof plan, we just need to know how to lay cement
usually you mix it and then lay it , but do you know how many cubic feet you need, it will take a while to mix a lot of cement, and you really don't to take the time to mix it after you have already had to dig the whatever it is your digging. have you thought about getting a kiddy pool and putting it in the back of a truck and having several people mix it close by and then drive and quickly fill in the hole ? i bet 2 or 3 kiddy pools will hold a lot of cement and be strong enough to mix with out puncturing. ps this has good idea written all over it.
Q:Just for kicks I tried to live up to my name a few days ago. So, I threw a party, and for the grand finale I tried to pick up one of those cement parking curbs and give it a good heave- ho. Long story short- after 3 of my buddies lifted the dang thing off of me, they drove me to the hospital... and my back aint doing so good. Stupid me for trying, or a man of his word?
I'm going to go wayyyy out on a limb here and guess that cement curbs are heavy... BECAUSE THEY'RE MADE OUT OF CEMENT! I won't be as harsh to say that you are stupid - we are all capable of making poor decisions... and that was one. I do hope your back gets better, though.
