- Q:The light fitting I bought has 1x Red Wire (A) 1x Green Wire (E) and 1x Blue Wire (N)...
- In the uk red was live and black was neutral, is this part of multiple wall lights ? then it should be only one red is live, the other may go to another light fitting. The light fitting would possibly be red=live, blue=neutral and green is earth, I say possibly because it is a mix of old colours and new. There should be installation instructions with it. Start by connecting one red to the light fitting red and the black to the blue connect the earth, make the other red safe and switch on. If that doesn't work change the wall red to the other and try again. If everything is working and no other lights are not working then make good and leave as is, otherwise you may need to connect all reds together for the other light to work. You may be able to identify the live red if it is a single with grey insulation cable.
- Q:A 0.500 g wire is stretched between two points 95.0 cm apart. If the tension in the wire is 600 N, find the wire's first, second, and third harmonics.______Hz (1st)______Hz (2nd)______Hz (3rd)
- Kia ora In order to answer this question, we first need to ascertain the speed of a wave in this wire. The speed of a wave on a wire depends upon the tension 'T' and the linear density (mass per unit length) 'μ' of the wire. v=√(T/μ) T=600 N The linear density of your wire is 5.00E-4 kg/0.95=5.263E-4 kg/m. So for this wire, v=√(600/5.263E-4) =1068 m/s Now we have the speed, we need to find the wavelengths that correspond to the harmonics we are interested in. The wire is fixed at both ends. Nodes occur at fixed ends. Therefore the first harmonic will occur when there is a node at each end and the longest possible wavelength that satisfies this condition is λ=2L (you get half a wavelength on the wire). So λ=2*0.95=λ=1.90m. If v=1068m/s and λ=1.90 then by the wave equation v=fλ f=v/λ=1068/1.90=562.1 Hz. So that is the first harmonic. The second harmonic has twice the frequency of the first; the third harmonic has three times the frequency of the first. The second harmonic will therefore occur at 562.1*2=1124 Hz and the third at 562.1*3=1686 Hz. Because your data was given to 3sf you need to round your answer to 3sf: 1st harmonic: 562 Hz 2nd harmonic: 1120 Hz 3rd harmonic: 1680 Hz
- Q:(PRIOR TO READING, I SUGGEST YOU LOOK AT THE IMAGES AS IT WILL MAKE THINGS A WHOLE LOT EASIER TO UNDERSTAND)I purchased 2 neons from Repco. That run off your cigerette lighter with an adaptor. They worked fine, until my friend got in my car, and accidentally dropped something on the adaptor which caused it to malfunction, and bam, my in-car neons (placed up under the dash, near where your feet rest) went out.
- wire is wire. If it really is silver then theoretically it should conduct electrcitiy better than copper. But that doesn't really matter much. wire is wire. all it needs to be able to do is carry the electrical current. If wiring truly is your problem, then that will work fine.
- Q:And how can you not get them in hair straightener wires? Thanks!
- Short in a wire is when two wires either don't connect cuz they're not long enough, OR when the wires start to smoke or burn or catch on fire.
- Q:Does anyone know what color the neutral safety wire is on a 1995 suburban? The one in the ignition harness.
- The yellow wire on the ignition switch harness goes to the transmission range switch (aka park/neutral safety switch) on the transmission, and then the purple wire on the transmission range switch goes to the starter solenoid.
- Q:hi i have been wondering what to get Wireless or Wired for my Xbox 360 the xbox is about 30 feet away for the router. the router is a sagem router which sky provide me with and if i am going to go wired i will use a netgear etlernet HUB mainly what i want is a fast internet link hoping for lag free connection my contract with sky has ended and now i can switch what internet supplier sould i switch to
- wired because wireless can lag or disconnect so wired is the way to go!
- Q:For my science project, need about 3 feet of copper wire...approx how much will that cost me? I want the wires to be pretty thin :)
- Copper wire is probably the most expensive, but you only need 3 feet of it. Best to buy it by the foot and not by the reel. Home Depot has it. Or you can find it online (OKorder for example) as scrap wire but then you've got wait time, shipping, etc. If you know the gauge (thickness) you need, Home Depot will tell you on the phone how much it would be for 3 ft.
- Q:I had my uncle-in-law hook up my American Bass Pro 800 Watt Amp but he used cheap wiring. The wire is fairly small and he told me it doesnt matter how big the wire is. But what i wanna know is, Is the wire giving the amp enough power or does American Bass Pro Amps suck?? Help please
- your uncle obviously doesn't know what he's talking about. You can tell him I said that. If you want to get a lot of water to your garden, you use a bigger hose. If you want to get a lot of power to your amp, you use a bigger wire.
- Q:I have an old house and am replacing a dimmer switch in the kitchen. The old switch is has only 2 wires coming out of the switch that are both black. From the wall 2 wires connect to the 2 black wires on the switch, one is black which I have concluded is hot and the other is red, which must be the common wire. My question is that there is a 3rd wired that is pushed into the electrical box that is capped and not being used. This wire is white. I can only assume that would be a ground wire, but why would it be white in color. Can you tell me what the coloring scheme was for wiring old houses? Now I can connect the switch and use only the black and red wire, but would like to ground it properly if possible.
- Since this is an old house I would not assume anything, I may hook up a new switch wire per wire, but unless I opened the light fixture and confirmed the connection I would not connect any unconnected wire. That being said, since you have two colored wires then the white should only be used as a neutral. The hot and switch leg back to the light should be black and red, but which is which is anybodies guess. A ground wire is probably not present in the j-box you are dealing with, it was not required for many years, and probably do not have any grounded connection point in the light j-box either. You would just be connecting the boxes together if you used this spare wire, but not actually grounding anything, and could create a larger hazard by doing so.
- Q:How is the line differ from a neutral and ground wires in a three prong plug?
- the bare wire is the ground and goes to the green lug == the black wire goes in the brass screw/lug=== and the white wire then goes in the silver/aluminum looking screw/lug === the purpose of the ground is to act as a safety net to prevent shocks and c
