Q:Okay, I have a 99 olds intrigue 3.8 with 100k miles. Recently, I started noticing a clicking noise when turning right. I replaced both CV axles, and it did not go away. This noise ONLY happens when the car is on the ground. it happens in neutral or drive, braking or no braking, and only happens when I trun right. Now, recently I noticed the car makes a horrible grinding noise when the wheel is LOCKED to the left under acceleration. (like making a U-turn). Could both noises be caused by a bad wheel bearing? or bearings?
replace both wheel bearings, you figure, the car is resting on them, if they're grinding as you say they are you should feel a slight vibration in your gas pedal. for the clicking take it to a few shops see if anyone knows. after that i really don't know what to tell you.
Q:I will teach about bearings/bearing problems (trigonometry),and I'm looking for some good and fun teaching motivations or visual aids to catch the attention and interests of the students...Do you know some?or can you site a specific website on some good visual aids and teaching motivation?....thanks a lot! ^_^

Q:I need to get my honda aquatrax trailer's bearings greased up and I'm no handy man. I don't know if the PWC (jet ski) dealer (also a motorcycle dealer) would be willing to do it or if i have to go to a car mechanic.
your marine service shop should be up to the task of maintaining your marine trailer too. if they arent, you shouldnt be going to that shop to begin with. any normal car mechanic should be able to handle it too. its actually a very easy job, if you dont mind getting grease on your hands. wheel bearings are wheel bearins are wheel bearings..... and there are also places that deal more specifically with trailers. they would be able to handle your marine trailer maintence too. i would suggest you add a set of bearing buddy caps to your shopping list for parts. they have a fitting on them that allows you to pump grease into them without popping them off. and a spring that forces the grease through the bearings and out the wheel seal (if over pumped you will ruin the wheel seal). just pull off a little plastic cap, check that the spring is half compressed and you will have no bearing worries ever again. if the spring is ever getting relaxed, pull out the grease gun and give it a few pumps. bearing buddy caps claim to be a final solution to keeping the bearings full of grease and working properly. IF used properly and kept full, that claim is true.
Q:I have a Myrtle Longboard with Sector 9 wheels...right now my wheels spin for about 30 sec...how long would it spin approximately with bones reds?
Free spin doesn't mean anything. You don't need new bearings unless yours are broken or rusted/seized. They won't make any difference. My Bones Reds spin for about 5 seconds.
Q:my home ac unit is blowing warm so had a company come out and look at it. they said the condenser fan motor bearings were shot. I declined replacement but after he left I went on the roof to check it myself but did not notice any looseness or grinding when i spun the blades. How would tech know? would this cause it to blow warm it is a heat pump rooftop unit.
best way to check bearing is to take the condenser fan motor (with power off and double checked with a meeter) have the moror sitting with shaft up. hold the shaft and move it side to side. it wont be visible usually but if you feel any give in the shaft then the bearings are bad. However many use the word bearing loosely as many condenser fans use sleeves instead of bearings (cost of manufacturing). The smallest ever so slightly feel of play can show warn or bad bearings or sleeves. I have seen condenser fan motor with bad bearings that passed this test and ran normally until they got hot just as I would about give up on it and when they got hot they your start to slow down or sequel. With most of the motors now days it better to replace the whole motor than just the bearings. If you do not trust your tech then call somebody else. I recommend having a N.A.T.E certified technician as they have higher certifications. also when you call the company ask if their techs are paid hourly, commission or piece rate. many HVAC company's now days are paying their employees on piece rate which means the more parts they change the more they get paid.
Q:i want something thatl go fast
I'll cover some basics with you about advanced longboarding. I'll first start by talking about trucks and bushings, then I'll move on to bearings. Longboarding can be divided into two sub-categories, that is downhill riding and free riding. Now each type of riding has different sets of parts which differ from each other to provide maximum performance for the style of riding. Downhill boards are usually at top performance with trucks that have a 42 degree base plate. You will sacrifice the maneuverability and carving ability of trucks with 50 degree base plates to sturdiness if you get 42's. However, you will be able to handle speed much better on 42's and the risk of 'speed-wobbles' will go down. Bushings are pretty difficult to choose. With all different hardnesses and shapes, it's hard to recommend anything that you will be satisfied with. Bearings are simple. Any bearings are basically the same but MAKE SURE you get completely sealed bearings. Ceramic bearings are pricey but supposedly improve performance. I recommend you look into Randall or Paris for trucks (180mm standard), Khiro for bushings (unnecessary), and Bones for bearings.
Q:i need to know which is better for my skateboard
I used to roller skate when I was younger and I had abec 1 bearings which were very good at the time but I heard that the higher abec bearings were better but I'm only about 70% sure about that. If your comparing abec 5's against abec 7's they probably don't even make abec 1's anymore so I'm guessing that 7's are better
Q:2002 mercury cougar wheel bearings need to be changed, what tools do I need? And I don't think it matters but it is a 2.5 liter.
Since this is front wheel drive, it is totally different then a rear wheel drive car. I believe some people are accidentally assuming this is a rear wheel drive car, and it isn't I believe. The tire rod has to be disconnected from the knuckle arm, so you need a pickle-fork or similar tool to pop a tapered bolt. (It actually can be done with a bell ringing effect from opposing simultaneous hammer blows.) Besides the usual sockets to remove the brake caliper, strut, etc., you need a large socket and breaker bar to remove axle nut. Once you have the knuckle out, then you need snap ring pliers to remove the bearing retainer clip. And then the biggest tool of all is a press to push the stub axle out of the bearing, press the bearing out of the knuckle, and then press the new bearing back in, and the stub axle back into the bearing. (Caution not to try pounding for removal or installation, because that will ruin both the old axle and the new bearing.) Have done similar cars, but not necessarily this exact one, so there may be some variation.
Q:We have a 1990 Plymouth Voyager and we need to put on new wheel bearings (well my husband says the whole hub)..does anyone know how to go about this?
okorder about getting those bearings. Good Luck!
Q:Ok so my bearing shields recently got bent inwards and i researched it up online and it says that dirt and other stuff can get into the bearings easier and since im sort of a lazy guy i dont want to do the whole cleaning process so can skateshops clean bearings for you like with a dissolvent or something if you paid them a few bucks and also do you think that skateshops can also flatten out your bearing shields as well thanks if you answer
Yes, they can/ should be able to do that there. Since you said in your other question that you have ceramic bearings, the cost of this cleaning/repair would be alot cheaper than new bearings. I would take it in and see how much they charge, what they suggest, and how confident they are that they can fix it. If they charge alot then just ride them till you notice a decrease in performance. Then take them in and get them cleaned. If they don't charge much and sound like they can easily straighten out the cover, then ya, go for it.
