- Q:I had found out bones reds are one of the most best bearings for the money, and lots of mates have them so I bought some bones red's from Trademe (the New Zealand version of ebay) and they were real and all. as soon as I got them I rode them all around. but after about a week they were worse than my abec 3's. So I changed Back to them. While I was at the skate park People were saying that bones reds just need wearing into. so I cleaned them by soaking them in turps then putting speed cream on them. I have been skating heaps this month. but still not beta...???So any advice or help of what im doing wrong would be appreciated
- Thats strange. I've had the same Bones bearings for years and they spin just as good as they ever did since the day i bought them. If it;s not to late I would say go back and exchange them or do like your friends said and try to break them in. But I can't imagine ever having to break in a good set of bearings...good luck

- spray some wd40 or pb blaster on it, then positioned the main appropriate sized socket on it, 6point in case you have it...and unfasten it with the ratchet...in case you choose on an prolonged ratchet cope with you will get extra leverage via putting a jack cope with or something like that over the ratchet. yet once you positioned all of it back mutually make constructive its tight yet not as tight because it rather is now

- ABEC ratings are meaningless unless you are worried about small amounts of vibration over 200 mph. Really, it is a standard about vibration in high speed industrial machines. Even an ABEC 1 bearing is much better than the precision grade bearings that were used in the early skates and boards so going to ABEC was a big step up. Then the marketing people realized that they could put bigger numbers on things and the race was on. In theory, a given manufacurer puts more care into making the higher number bearings than they do the lower number bearing, but that doesn't mean that their high number bearing might not be better than a low number bearing from a better maker. In reality, the best bearing companies make non-ABEC bearings as their best ones because the smaller gaps in the high number bearings can slow you down. They put close tolerances where they need them and open up space where it can be done. They also use better grades of metal or ceramics. Within typical bearings, you will see a bigger difference due to the lubricant (and how much is used) that the bearing has in it. Oil will be faster but requires new lube more often. Grease lasts longer but is slower (especially if too much is used). Gels are in between.

- i've never used destructo bearings before but I have used rush bombers and they are a nice bearing, took a little while to break in but once they were they lasted a couple years with proper lubing and cleanings here and there, most bearings will if you take care of them.

- In this application the bearings would either be good or shot. Yours sound good although under load something occurs. What type of bearings are they? Are they sealed or shielded? The problem is probably somewhere else in the drive train like chain, sprocket, belt, pulley, shaft, etc.
