- Q: How can we reduce friction by using ball bearings?
- They are balls and because of their shape, they create less friction than something that is flat or has edges. Edges tend to dig in or scrape against other edges. The roundness of ball bearings allows them to roll with the objects.
- Q: i noticed a kind of humming noise coming from the front of the truck, my gut reaction is its the bearings going out. if i remember correctly its a pretty straight forward process.1. remove wheel2. remove caliper3. remove the bearing cap4. remove the spindle nut5. remove rotor and replace bearingspretty sure thats the sum of it, but do any you need any special tools? its been a while since i've done any bearing work and now i at college at my tool arsenal is basically limited to a 100 or so piece craftsman set.
- You'll need a brass punch. The oil seals bearings come out easy enough but use the brass punch to knock out the races. The new bearings will come with new races. An arbor press is best to press in the new races but you can use the brass punch and carefully tap them in making sure they go in straight and evenly as you gently tap all around them in. Take your time and make sure the races are bottomed out. Pack bearing grease into the bearings before installing them. Hope this helps.
- Q: i was going to buy new bearings but don't know what to get.
- dude red bearings and bones GOOD LUCK DUDE XD...
- Q: I have been checking with at least 3 different mechanic about ongoing problem in my Buick park avenue 2003.only one told me that I need to replace both front bearings and also asking me to replace tires(which I did and problem still exists) also right front tie rod..none of these other mechanic are sure what is the problem..Problem is this...Car seems pulling(no break problem) and wheels wobbling..making wide turns..what is could be?looks like all these mechanic don't want to deal with to fix my bearings..what you say?
- You might have a bent rim/s, if you took a real hard curb shot some time this can happen. If you have bad bearings there will be a lot of shaking of the steering wheel at most speeds. Bent suspension members do not result in wheel wobble, of course a bent axle will. But bending the axle stub is a difficult thing to do. The wheel will bend first.
- Q: my skateboard is really squeaky but im not quite sure how to grease them....(another thing the bolts on the wheels are sort of loose...are they supposed to be like that or are they supposed to be tight??)
- the squeaking is a results of two rubber components rubbing against one yet another, placed a divide between those and unfasten our autos. If that doesn't paintings, you may choose new bearings
- Q: DOES IT???
- Yoyo's have bearings? Then they don't work like when I was growing up - how would a bearing unit grab the string to climb it.
- Q: I've been searching my textbook and cannot find the types of bearings that are in a manual transmission. I need to know what types are in this type of transmission and when they are active (not being used). I know there's the pocket (pilot) bearing, but there are more. Can someone please help me figure this out? It's much appreciated. Thanks.
- Mainshaft bearings, countershaft bearings, input shaft bearing.....some are tapered, some are roller, some are needle bearings.........
- Q: a boat sails on a bearing of N15E for 10 km then on a bearing of S85E until it is due east of starting point the distance from the starting point to the nearest km is thena. 10 kmb 38c. 110d. 113e.114
- Sketch the situation and you have a triangle ABC, where A is the starting point, B is the turn after 10km, and C is the ending points. From the bearings, angle A is 75° (90° - 15°), angle B is 100° (85° + 15°), and so C must be 5°. Side c (opposite from C) is 10 km. Solve for side b (opposite from B) using the law of sines: b / (sin B) = c / (sin C) b = c * (sin B)/(sin C) = (10 km) * (sin 100°) / (sin 5°) Now, put your calculator in degree mode and see if the answer is closer to 113 or 114.
- Q: okay my dad bought some stuff for my skatedboard berrings cuz they been goin kinda slow and im not sure if its good or not it cant attract dust so if anyone knows please help!
- I think this stuff should be fine, though I don't know if it will help speed up your bearings. I've used WD40 on my bearings before and it didn't seem to hurt, so you should be okay to put this stuff on. I would also recommend that you check in with a local skate shop and ask what they would consider before you put it on just in case.
- Q: 99 Lexus ES300. When I drive the car its fine for like the first ten minutes but after that when I stop at lights and for traffic the oil pressure will drops when the RPMs go below 500 or so. I took it in and they told me to keep thicker oil and Lucas Stop Leak in it. They also told me the bearings on the Camshaft are loose and thats why I'm losing pressure. Anyone know how much this is to fix? Is it possible to fix on my own? I'm a novice at best with cars. Also why would the oil pressure drop since the bearings are going bad? Just trying to understand the problem a bit better. Thx
- Well to start, your engine has no camshaft bearings. It utilizes dual overhead camshafts, that ride in specially machined surfaces in the cylinder head and are held down with caps that have the same machined surfaces. If excessive wear is present in these places, the cylinder heads are irreparably damaged and must be replaced. The reason for the loss of oil pressure is due to the increased clearances between the components. This is symptom is usually more a product of worn crankshaft and or connecting rod bearings. The increased space between the components provides a less resistant path for the oil to be forced through, and therefore resulting pressure is reduced.
