- Q: how to replace wheel bearings on a 97 ford aspire?
- Most wheel bearings are now all-in-one with the hub. You didn't say if it's front or rear. Front, don't try, the tools will cost more than the hub assembly.
- Q: could you please tell me what other things could i use to clean my bearings so that they roll like new! jeje.... i mean if there's a better one than DW 40..... and where can i buy it ( not DW40) n_n'

- Q: The serpentine belt in my car came off somehow and I found it in the driveway (this was a few days after it had been replaced) and my dad told me to drive my car to the automotive place without it and if it overheated just to pull over, let it cool, and then keep going. it did overheat and I pulled over, but called AAA and had them tow me, now the guy fixing my car told me my alternator bearings have failed, and that it wasn't like that when he did the belt before. Was this from the drive there? or from something else?
- Jennifer. You didn't hurt the alternator bearings by driving the car to the automotive store. Without the serpentine belt, the alternator and water-pump doesn't turn. Without the water-pump spinning is the reason the coolant temperature got hot. The alternator bearings were stiff or noisy before the belt spun off. In fact, that might have caused the belt to spin off. Too bad there isn't an automotive electrical shop or private mechanic nearby who couldn't split the alternator and slide on new bearings and brushes. The alternator will be as good as new! If you're pushed into a corner and it's necessary to purchase an new re-manufactured alternator call around for the best price with the *best lifetime warranty. Let me know how you make out.
- Q: I have a 2004 VUE, and the last couple weeks I've been hearing a roaring noise coming from the rear right wheel. It has gotten louder the last day or so. One person told me it might be the bearings, and that it's a easy thing to have fixed. I'm taking it to the mechanic on Friday. Anyone have an idea how much this might cost?
- Now here is what you do if you get a shop to do it. Get estimates from everyone. Then go by brake check and get an estimate. Now the trick is is to get on the computer for the brake check in your city, if you have one. They have a calendar there where you can schedule your vehicle for putting in new bearings. If you will notice, on certain days, they have up to 30% on some locations at different times and days. You might call and ask what the percent off covers. Is it parts or labor or both. But seems a good deal. Otherwise, buy a hayes repair manual for about $20 or so. Bearings are one of the few things that are EASY to put in. Now you can go to one of those back yard mechanics who can do it real cheap.
- Q: I lubed my bearings, loosened trucks, loosened my wheels, now I hear a rattling noise, wheres it coming from? Its a longboard. The wheels are made of like a rubber substance, so I dont think the problem is inside the wheels. The noise sounds metallic, so Im guessing the noise is coming from the outside wheel bolt, or the top cup washer. Can anyone experienced or knows the answer help me out? Im an amateur Please help me out. The sound gets annoying to me and my friends when i cruise.
- umm wheels arent supposed to be loose.. thats when they fall off. and you die. not a good situation if you like living
- Q: I have a 1992 Camaro RS, LO3 305 TBI V8, Automatic, 125k miles. It had the oil changed awhile ago, not sure what they put in it, but when I picked it up, the engine was ticking (sounded like a lifter or failing oil pump). I've driven it a few thousand miles and it runs good and strong, but I've always noticed that the oil pressure guage reads low, between 5-25 psi. I'm concerned my bearings are shot. It normally starts up at 25psi and after driving 10-20 minutes, it reads 5-10 psi, and the ticking becomes slower. The engine never kills though. Could it just be a case of a bad sending unit, with to light of a weight of oil, or bad bearings? What are some common signs of bad bearing? The motor does not knock.
- if your bearings are bad your engine would be knocking and would soon stop. it sounds like your bearings are worn which would give you low oil pressure. I would run the oil made for older engines that have wear like yours.and by the way try not to beat it to much it'll last a little longer
- Q: I have a Merida sub-20 bike. can i use sealed units? if so, what size should i use?I want to change to sealed bearings to make it easier to replace/fix. many thanks
- You will have to switch out the headset to go from caged to sealed bearings. Most modern bicycles come with a 1.125, also known as 1 1/8 inch headset. It would be a very odd late model bike that would come with a 1 headset. If you want to replace it yourself check out the links below for all sorts of useful information. Remember that most of the race cups into which the bearings fit are aluminum and are relatively soft so use wood or a special tool to install correctly. Headsets are definitely one area where a bigger hammer does not work. Setting the star nut requires a lot of patience or a special tool, so think about having a shop swap the headset. It's a common repair and with the right tools reasonably quick. Best of luck!
- Q: examples.
- Every rotating wheel in your life has a bearing of some sort in it. Your car, the mower, the UPS truck, the shopping cart at walmart. They are everywhere. If you have any full-extention drawers in your house (especially on filing cabinets), they have bearings. Any heavy entrance doors, have bearings in the hinges. If your garage has power tools, air compressors or scissor jacks, they all have bearings. A box fan (or any air moving fan-there's a ton of them) has a bearing in it. If your search extended into your place of work, the number of applications is endless. Just look for any thing that is spinning or has a heavy object with rotational movement.
- Q: I recently had a repair done to my vehicle, and on the bill, they noted wheel bearings make noise. I went back in to ask the mechanic, and he stated to me that if I drive down the road I hear a roaring noise, and those are my wheel bearings. I asked him if this is something I should get taken care of right away, and he stated, no, not until it is very loud, so loud that you cannot drown the noise out with the car radio. Is this an accurate answer, or should I take care of this sooner rather than later. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure of what it would cost to have my front wheel bearings replaced? Thank you.
- If okorder . I'm sorry you encountered such a lame mechanic as wheel bearing noise is a great indicator the right, left or both should be throughly inspected and serviced. Im sure you don't want the dirty son of a gun to seize of fall off the car while you're driving.
- Q: i have a 20 kent bmx bike. The bearings in the frame got messed up some how and now the pedal crank moves back and forth. Can I get these the bearings or do I have to get a new frame?
- Count the number of bearings you need and take them to the local bike shop and get a whole set, don't mix the old and new ones use all new.
